Der Zug, der sich auf dem Weg von Hannover nach Hamburg befindet und mit einer Geschwindigkeit von 200 Kilometern pro Stunde fährt, entgleist und prallt gegen die Pfeiler einer 200 Tonnen schweren Brücke, die einstürzt. 101 Menschen sterben, 88 werden schwer verletzt. Am 3. Juni 1924 stirbt Franz Kafka im Sanatorium Kierling bei Klosterneuburg im Alter von 40 Jahren. Als offizielle Todesursache wird Herzversagen festgestellt. Begraben wird er auf dem Neuen Jüdischen Friedhof in Prag. Franz Kafka war ein deutschsprachiger jüdischer Schriftsteller aus Prag, dessen visionäre Romane und Erzählungen zu den bedeutendsten Werken der Weltliteratur gehören.
