Joshua Ravensbergen also comes on to talk about Prince George Cougars teammate and potential San Jose Sharks No. 2 pick Carson Carels! The San Jose Hockey Now Podcast is sponsored by Bring Hockey Back and Bladetech Hockey! (00:04:12) Scott Wheeler shares why he has a “hunch” that the Sharks will pick Ivar Stenberg at No. 2. (00:10:39) How does Wheeler look back at Michael Misa vs. Anton Frondell last year? If the Sharks select the Swedish winger, Wheeler explains why he wouldn't be so quick to trade from the Sharks' excess of forwards for defensive help. (00:19:13) If the Sharks pick a defenseman, have Chase Reid and Carels set themselves apart from the rest of the field? Wheeler has been arguing with fellow Athletic draft guru Corey Pronman on their podcast about the potential value of Reid versus Stenberg. How does Reid rank amongst recent top blueline picks like Artyom Levshunov, David Jiricek, Simon Nemec, Zayne Parekh, Zeev Buium, and Sam Dickinson? Arafah Duʿāʾ 2026 by Muftī Zubair Bayat by Radio Islam
This week's guest is Chef Zubair Mohajir -- and he's got a lot going on. A former finance guy who found his calling in the kitchen after the 2008 crash, Zubair has since built one of the most compelling culinary identities in Chicago, rooted in the idea that food is migration made edible. He's the force behind Lilac Tiger, the Coach House, and Mirra -- and this summer, he's opening three more: Mariela, Muhājir, and Bobo. He joins us to walk through all of it, in a conversation that covers growing up between Qatar and the southwest suburbs, his mom's legendary garage catering operation, staging at Alinea with zero experience, why a 927-year-old duck recipe from medieval Islamic Spain is one of his signature dishes -- and so much more!
We say goodbye to a special San Jose Sharks season! But before that, Sharks legend Dan Boyle remembers the time that he walked Brent Burns. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JV3AWKsTK7U Also, Zubair shares a great “hockey” movie that he watched recently. So where did Sheng vote Macklin Celebrini for the Hart Trophy? GM Mike Grier, in his exit interview, gave a spirited case. Will Celebrini be the next captain of the San Jose Sharks? Recent history gives a good idea of what Celebrini's extension should look like. What did Dan think of Luca Cagnoni's recent NHL call-up? Would you trade Michael Misa for Zach Werenski? Dan and Keegan have a perhaps surprising answer. We discuss what the San Jose Sharks blueline might look like next year. What about head coach Ryan Warsofsky? What did we think about his performance this season? What does Dan think of Eric Pohlkamp? We get into a thoughtful conversation about Shakir Mukhamadullin: What will it take to get him to the next level? Finally, we each give thanks for all your support this season! The San Jose Sharks' playoff hopes are on life support! So it's time for an emergency subscriber mailbag! Let's get to it! Knewbs3: Why trade William Eklund instead of prospects like Quentin Musty and Filip Bystedt? Flying Frenchman: Is management happy with Ryan Warsofsky's performance? Ohheytravis: Is Warsofsky on the hot seat? Tim Graveline: If the San Jose Sharks win the Draft lottery, should they take a BPA forward like Gavin McKenna or trade back for a defenseman prospect? For Zubair, what's a song or maybe an album that best represents this sharks season? What song/album would you hope would represent the sharks next season? Zeke: Which San Jose Barracuda forwards have a legit shot at a playing role in the NHL? Rphillips: Is our organization's ability to develop defensemen a concern? (22:39) Bob Horenstein: What does the defense look like next year? Which UFA's do the Sharks bring back? Dave: Following how patient the Colorado Avalanche were in building a Stanley Cup winner, shouldn't we allow GM Mike Grier that kind of rope? Dylan Smallwood: Does Alex Tuch fit the San Jose Sharks? Would you give him a maximum contract? What player type do the Sharks need next year? Do you see Michael Misa or Sam Dickinson starting next season in the AHL? (40:23) Stephanie K: How much did Doug Wilson Jr.'s drafting hurt the San Jose Sharks' current team? Downriver: What skills do Shakir Mukhamadullin, Dickinson, and Luca Cagnoni need to develop if they're going to be regulars at the NHL level? Do you see Pohlkamp as NHL-ready for a contending team? Finny Damphousse: What are you all sipping on? Alcohol or non-alcoholic. Giant Shark Tooth Necklace: Is there a specific player you would have liked to have seen the Sharks trade for at the Deadline to help with the playoff push? If so, what would your “take or leave it” trade offer have been for that player, if there was a bidding war? Or do you think Grier made the right call to wait until the off-season to make any major moves? James R: For Keegan, realizing there is no Matthew Schaefer in this Draft, are there a defenseman in this year's class that could reasonably step into an NHL lineup next season and be a legit everyday player? (56:33) How comfortable do you feel running back the same goaltending tandem next season? Yetis: The organization has a glut of forwards both on the NHL roster and in the AHL in Musty, Bystedt, and Kasper Halttunen. Who is most likely to go? Rob S: Does Mukhamadullin want to return to the Sharks? Can Mario Ferraro develop his puck-moving beyond what it is now? Sven_: Would you rather fight 100 duck-sized Dan Boyles or 1 Dan Boyle-sized duck? James Murphy: Shouldn't the Sharks have called up Luca Cagnoni earlier to run the power play? Spon: Are the Sharks pushing Dickinson (and possibly Pohlkamp when he arrives) too hard and too soon? Megabite: Any chance Nedeljkovic is not going to return? BiscuitBoy: Is Yaroslav Askarov's glove hand fixable? Will Will Smith learn to be stronger with the puck? Stefan Schwartz: What do you think about the D by committee route for the Sharks, since true No. 1 D are hard to come by? Which middle-pairing defensemen would fit the Sharks? FaultySynapse: What will the San Jose Sharks' depth chart look like if they pull the trigger on a No. 1 defenseman in a trade? (1:14:25) Just Steve: How do you think the Sharks have handled Mukhamadullin and other prospects? Michael K.: What are the Sharks' options on defense next year if Pohlkamp or Cagnoni aren't ready? And they strike out on defense? Cole Seavey: Should the Sharks be in the chase for Auston Matthews? Jigglz: Do you ever see yourselves doing a live, in-person recording of the Pod with an audience? (1:27:36) Sarge: The Sharks have the No. 9 pick of the 2026 Draft. The top-4 defensemen are gone, leaving Daxon Rudolph on the board. Should San Jose take Rudolph or a forward like Oscar Hemming? How angry will Sharks fans be if they pick the non-defenseman? NotAlexKorolyuk: Which stars would you like to see on the Sharks over the next three years, be the most fun? Ken Meehan: What three moves should the Sharks make this summer to “guarantee” a playoff spot next year? Bellizar: If the Sharks pick Albert Smits, is he NHL-ready, and what does a Smits and Dickinson-led defense need around them? Kyle Johnson: As a non-season ticket holder, how do you go about getting prospects scrimmage tickets? I want to get them before they sell out. Chris Geer: If the Sharks don't win the Lottery, should they package a good prospect like a Bystedt etc. with their pick to go up higher in the Draft? Radioheadliner (the other James R.): What would Kevin Woodley or Thomas Speer say about Askarov's ability to stop shots up high or track the puck through screens? Keegan, didn't you tweet way back when that you were worried about his hands? Fin Coe: If Warsofsky keeps his job, are there any Assistant Coaches that could be in the hot seat? Keegan, will you be repping your Sharks fandom at your wedding? Sheng, are there any colleagues of yours whose work you think we should follow? Zubair, what sticks do you rock? Joe E: What's going on with the San Jose Barracuda? They're on a nine-game losing streak. Also, do we trust them to get the most out of Pohlkamp or Leo Sahlin Wallenius? Ricky LaFleur: In Mike Grier's opening presser, his mission statement was that we were going to be hard, heavy, and difficult to play against—basically the complete antithesis of what we are. Why do you think he's deviated from his original blueprint? Gary To: For top power play quarterback next year, would you prefer a youngster like Dickinson or Cagnoni to QB the PP or should they re-explore the five-forward PP? Or acquire a bridge PP1 QB? Kevin: Do we see the Sharks emptying the war chest for one star difference-maker on defense or multiple solid d-men? What will a Michael Kesselring cost? Jon Swenson: Could the San Jose Sharks ask Tyler Toffoli to waive his NTC this off-season? Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. From Busy to Barakah: Resetting Your Lifestyle Before Ramadaan:Hafiz Zubair Saith by Radio Islam

What if your AI systems could explain why something will happen before it does, rather than simply reacting after the damage is done? In this episode of Tech Talks Daily, I sat down with Zubair Magrey, co-founder and CEO of Ergodic AI, to unpack a different way of thinking about artificial intelligence, one that focuses on understanding how complex systems actually behave. Zubair's journey begins in aerospace engineering at Rolls-Royce, moves through a decade of large-scale enterprise AI programs at Accenture, and ultimately leads to building Ergodic, a company developing what he describes as world models for enterprise decision making. World models are often mentioned in research circles, but rarely explained in a way that business leaders can connect to real operational decisions. In our conversation, Zubair breaks that gap down clearly. Instead of training AI to spot patterns in past data and assume the future will look the same, world-model AI focuses on cause and effect. It builds a structured representation of how an organization works, how different parts interact, and how actions ripple through the system over time. The result is an AI approach that can simulate outcomes, test scenarios, and help teams understand the consequences of decisions before they commit to them. We explored why this matters so much as organizations move toward agentic AI, where systems are expected to recommend or even execute actions autonomously. Without an understanding of constraints, dependencies, and system dynamics, those agents can easily produce confident but unrealistic recommendations. Zubair explains how Ergodic uses ideas from physics and system theory to respect real-world limits like capacity, time, inventory, and causality, and why ignoring those principles leads to fragile AI deployments that struggle under pressure. The conversation also gets practical. Zubair shares how world-model simulations are being used in supply chain, manufacturing, automotive, and CPG environments to detect early risks, anticipate disruptions, and evaluate trade-offs before problems cascade across customers and regions. We discuss why waiting for perfect data often stalls AI adoption, how Ergodic's data-agnostic approach works alongside existing systems, and what it takes to deliver ROI that teams actually trust and use. Finally, we step back and look at the organizational side of AI adoption. As AI becomes embedded into daily workflows, cultural change, experimentation, and trust become just as important as models and metrics. Zubair offers a grounded view on how leaders can prepare their teams for faster cycles of change without losing confidence or control. As enterprises look ahead to a future shaped by autonomous systems and real-time decision making, are we building AI that truly understands how our organizations work, or are we still guessing based on the past, and what would it take to change that? Useful Links Connect with Zubair Magrey Learn more about Ergodic AI Thanks to our sponsors, Alcor, for supporting the show.

Insider Sheng Peng, prospects guru Keegan McNally, and host Zubair Jeewanjee dive into that in the latest episode of the San Jose Hockey Now Podcast. On April 26, a violent attack took place at the Lapu-Lapu Day festival in Vancouver — an event meant to honour Filipino heritage and community. At least 11 people were killed, and many others injured. In the days since, members of the Filipino community in Canada and their allies have been coming together to grieve, reflect, and support one another through this difficult time. This week on rabble radio, labour reporter Gabriela Calugay-Casuga spoke with Zuha Zubair from Migrante Ottawa to reflect on the recent Lapu Lapu Day tragedy in Vancouver, and to shed light on the often-overlooked struggles faced by Filipino migrants in Canada. About our guest Zuha Zubair is a Filipino and a community organizer with Migrante Ottawa, a chapter of an international migrants organization fighting for national liberation and genuine democracy in the Philippines. Welcome back to another episode of the How I Lawyer Podcast, where it is my job to interview lawyers about what they do, why they do it, and how they do it well. Today's guest is Ayyan Zubair, who is a Litigation Associate at Allen & Overy, where he has experience practicing commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, and white-collar investigations, and also maintains a robust pro bono practice. Following his graduation from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, Ayyan clerked on the Nevada Supreme Court for the Honorable Justice Lidia Stiglich, before joining Allen & Overy. In this episode, Ayyan shares valuable insights about the legal profession including:
Allah knows the gut-wrenching pain a mother has to go through to protect, sacrifice her own desires, and raise her child. That's why He treats them a certain way like no other. He comforts and instructs them to have faith in Him.If we look through the Quran, Allah talks in a motivational and comforting tone when dealing with mothers.Whether it's the mother of Maryam (AS) and her desire to supplicate her child in the service of Allah......or it's about Maryam (AS) when she was blessed with the news of being granted a son as a prophet......or when Allah comforted the distressed mother of Musa (AS) by ensuring he was fed by her, even when he was raised in the house of an enemy.Islam also encourages balance and moderation in every aspect of life and mothers taking some time off……won't make them selfish, but it gears them up with more strength to provide the right environment for their children.A mom goes through challenging moments, sleepless nights, and tiring schedules...Just because she envisions her child to be the best of both worlds, grow into a resilient Muslim, and be a source of Sadaqa Jariyah.
