Todd Miller of Isaiah Industries and co-host Ethan Young welcome Muhammad Faiz of Rise Roofers and host of the Roofing Millionaires podcast to discuss how he entered the roofing industry from Pakistan, his shift from ads and lead generation to helping roofers build emotionally resonant brands, and why many contractors lack marketing knowledge and a clear definition of growth.Faiz explains how purpose can serve as a decision filter amid overwhelming tech and platform choices, and how positioning helps contractors avoid competing solely on the lowest price. He shares why he started Roofing Millionaires as a non-promotional platform for veteran insights, highlights his favorite episodes, and describes client outcomes centered on clarity, fulfillment, and premium perception. In rapid-fire questions, he discusses a childhood English lesson, favorite foods, his view that roofing will return to relationship basics, and how to connect with him.Timestamps00:00 Welcome and Co-Host Intro00:41 Meet Muhammad Faiz02:16 Why Roofing Marketing04:19 From Pakistan to Freelance05:46 Rise Roofers Branding Focus09:27 Purpose Driven Growth11:09 Tech Noise and Clarity15:39 Positioning Beyond Price17:34 Why Start the Podcast24:34 Best Episodes to Start26:50 Client Transformations32:52 Faiz Personal Purpose35:45 How to Work Together38:03 Define Your Growth40:52 Rapid Fire Questions46:39 Connect and ClosingConnect with Muhammad OnlineFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/muhammadfaiz99For more Construction Disruption, listen on Apple Podcasts or YouTubeConnect with us on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedInThis episode was produced by Isaiah Industries, Inc.Construction Disruption was recently featured in this 15 Best Podcasts for Contractors list! This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podtrac - https://analytics.podtrac.com/privacy-policy-gdrp
Küçükken karşımızdaki çocukları köşeye sıkıştırmak, sinir krizinin eşiğine getirmek için kullandığımız “yapamaz ki yapamaz ki” sloganı, bugün Merkez Bankası'nın para politikasını tanımlamak için kullanılır hale geldi. Koskoca Para Politikası Kurulu'nu mahallenin mızıkçı çocuğu konumuna düşürmek de herhalde sadece bizim makroekonomik tarihimize nasip olurdu.
Ekonomi yönetiminin dengede tutması gereken üç temel gösterge faiz, enflasyon ve ekonomik büyümedir.
Faiz Ahmad Faiz wrote this ghazal from a prison cell in Hyderabad, Sindh — and somehow made it sound like spring. In this episode, Kshitij and Burair sit with Gulon Mein Rang Bhare and ask the question the poem itself refuses to answer: is this a love poem or a call for revolution? They trace the ghazal through three renditions that each find something different in it — Mehdi Hassan's classical composition that gave the poem its first immortal voice, Ali Sethi's Coke Studio version that cracked it open for a younger diaspora ear, and Vishal Bhardwaj's use of it in Haider, where Faiz's longing and Kashmir's grief become indistinguishable. Along the way, the conversation turns to the bandishein of ghazal — the formal rules that hold the form together — and what it means that a structure this disciplined became home to some of the most quietly subversive poetry of the 20th century.
This powerful session explores poetry as an act of resistance and a voice for the voiceless. At its heart are four towering literary figures: Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Pablo Neruda, Mahmoud Darwish, and Nizar Qabbani, whose words transcended borders and became rallying cries for justice, dignity, and freedom. Faiz and Neruda were known friends and fellow travellers in the international struggle for peace and justice. Darwish and Faiz were also dear friends and shared a poetic kinship. Qabbani paralleled Faiz in his fusion of love and politics, turning verse into a form of protest. Despite writing in different languages of Urdu, Spanish, and Arabic, these poets are bound by a common ethos: that poetry can confront power, nurture memory, and awaken hope. Their legacies speak across borders and generations, inviting us to consider how language and resistance remain intertwined.

What happens when journalism stops pretending objectivity is the same thing as truth telling? In this episode, Glen Galaich and co-host Dr. Carmen Rojas take Break Fake Rules to Kansas City for another conversation from Common Thread, the national event series from the Marguerite Casey Foundation bringing people together around the issues shaping working-class life in America. They welcome Faiz Shakir, founder of More Perfect Union, the Emmy Award-winning nonprofit newsroom redefining what news can look like when it actually centers working-class people. Together, they explore how More Perfect Union's reporting has become a powerful tool for policy change and corporate accountability. The conversation takes on one of the media's biggest fake rules: the myth of objectivity. Faiz makes the case for an honest form of advocacy journalism, one that stays grounded in facts while refusing to hide its investment in the lives of working people. As Glen, Carmen, and Faiz talk through the stories that much mainstream media still fails to tell, a bigger idea comes into focus: journalism can do more than describe a rigged economy. It can help people understand the forces shaping their lives, see themselves as actors in that story, and build power to change it.

In 1943, the Bengal famine killed over three million people — not because food didn't exist, but because British wartime policy redirected it to Allied forces fighting World War II. It was in this moment of collective grief that Faiz Ahmad Faiz wrote what many consider the most important nazm in modern Urdu literature.Mujhse Pehli Si Mohabbat Meri Mehbooba Na Maang opens the second section of Naqsh-e-Fariyadi — Faiz's debut collection — and marks his decisive turn from romantic poetry toward what he called poetry with purpose. Faiz signals this shift himself, prefacing the section with a line from Persian poet Nizami: "Dil-e-ba-farokhtam, jaan-e-khareedam" — I have sold my heart and bought a soul.Kshitij and Burair sit with that line. With the poem. With what it demands of a reader. In this episode, Kshitij attempts to read the nazm aloud — and the weight of it catches in his voice more than once. Some poems don't let you stay comfortable. This is one of them.

Faiz Shakir — Bernie Sanders' 2020 campaign manager, former DNC chair candidate, and executive director of the progressive media organization More Perfect Union — joins the Chuck Toddcast for a bracingly honest conversation about what's wrong with the Democratic Party and what it would take to fix it. Shakir diagnoses a party that is functionally leaderless, with its top figures stuck in a "play dead" mentality while the Democratic brand polls worse than the Republican brand even as Trump's corruption grows more brazen by the day. He argues that Trump — like Biden before him — is finger-wagging at voters on the economy rather than addressing affordability, and that Democrats are blowing the opportunity to capitalize because they're terrible at picking fights and allergic to friction. Shakir is particularly scathing on the party's relationship with big tech and corporate power: He holds up Bernie Sanders' AI data center moratorium as the kind of fight Democrats should be waging, and Lina Khan's FTC tenure as the model of mission-driven disruption. The conversation then turns to the future of the party and how to build a lasting majority. Shakir argues that the right candidate could move 7% of the electorate from right to left, that if Sanders were younger he'd likely win in 2028, and that Sanders has more credibility than AOC because he represents a rural state — though he praises both AOC's national appeal and Ro Khanna's political intelligence. He insists Democrats need to fight a class-based economic justice campaign, stop punishing candidates who aren't perfectly aligned on social issues, and recognize that "independent" doesn't mean centrist — younger voters are disillusioned with both parties and hungry for a working-class-first agenda. Shakir offers a detailed vision for DNC reform: fund state parties based on merit and metrics, move Nevada to first on the primary calendar because Vegas politics would orient the party toward working-class concerns, add Michigan and North Carolina to the early window, and invest in sun belt opportunities He closes by noting that James Talarico channeled Bernie's message with a religious-based framing, and that Democratic voters always gravitate toward outsiders — the party just needs to let them run. What happens when a poem becomes more dangerous than a weapon? In this episode, Kshitij and Burair dive into the high-stakes world of the Progressive Writers' Movement (PWM). We start in the 1940s, where Faiz Ahmad Faiz watched the British Empire stumble during WWII and realized the "iron was red-hot"—it was time for India to strike. We trace the DNA of resistance from Faiz's iconic "Bol" to the fiery Ghazals of Dushyant Kumar that defined the "Halla Bol" spirit decades later. But the revolution wasn't just political; it was personal. We explore the radical feminism of Kaifi Azmi and Majaaz Lakhnawi, who challenged women to step out of the shadows and turn their "aanchals" into revolutionary banners. From the prison cells of Pakistan to the protest streets of India, join us as we uncover how these poets taught a subcontinent that silence is the only true defeat.

Data from a 2025 Pew study shows that only 17 percent of Americans think AI will have a positive impact over the next 20 years. But it's a David vs. Goliath battle. Today's guests say AI expansion is not a red or blue issue; it's about who gets to decide how human and natural resources are distributed, who controls the technology, and who stands to benefit. Faiz Shakir is the Founder and Executive Director of the labor-focused news platform More Perfect Union, and serves as a political advisor for Senator Bernie Sanders. John Cassidy, staff writer at the New Yorker, is the author of the recent book, “Capitalism and Its Critics: A History: From the Industrial Revolution to AI”, in which he draws our attention back to the Luddites, the 18th century workers whose revolt deserves our closer attention. Plus, our correspondent's coverage of a shocking scene at a public comment meeting in Wisconsin when a local woman was arrested and dragged away. If AI is the new face of capitalism, what is the new alternative?“Luddites, when I was growing up, was a term of abuse. It was people who were sort of antediluvians and didn't understand the modern world. . . . They understood the modern world as it was in their times perfectly, and they saw it was moving against them, and they saw that the political system wasn't coming to their defense.” - John Cassidy“. . . There's more and more pushback, which hopefully portends the possibility that a lot of these communities can strike better deals if they are going to have data centers. There's no reason why we can't be asking that the teachers are well paid, that the electricity rates don't go up, that we have decent affordable housing in those communities. That is all possible because we're playing with incredible amounts of dollars and deep-pocketed people . . . ” - Faiz ShakirGuests:• John Cassidy: Staff Writer, The New Yorker; Author, Capitalism and Its Critics: A History: From the Industrial Revolution to AI• Faiz Shakir: Founder & Executive Director, More Perfect Union; Political Advisor & Former Campaign Manager, Senator Bernie Sanders Watch the episode released on YouTube; PBS World Channel 11:30am ET Sundays and on over 300 public stations across the country (check your listings, or search here via zipcode).
Marc Elias sits down with Faiz Shakir, founder of More Perfect Union and former campaign manager for Bernie Sanders, for a deep dive into the future of Democratic messaging, media, and grassroots organizing. Faiz breaks down three core elements of constructive, pro-worker populism, how political organizing is empowering Americans to advocate for workplace justice, and how independent media is stepping into the vacuum left by legacy outlets. Tasalli is a feeling of comfort, reassurance, and emotional support. It is what helps the heart feel calm when someone listens without judgment, shares your pain or simply lets you be with your emotions. Urdu poets like Aarzoo Lakhnavi write about tasalli as the space to process grief, letting tears flow and giving the heart time to settle. or, rather the lack of it when the poet is also expecting more than just words to pacify him. Jan Nisar Akhtar shows how tasalli can come from presence and intimacy, like a hand on the heart or words that make someone feel truly seen. Hasrat Mohani writes about its fragile and cyclical nature, how peace can come and go and memories can trigger those familiar unsettling old feelings. And in the episode you will also find yourself in the embrace of Faiz's reminder that you are your own biggest and most effective healer in his iconic nazm, Mere Humdum Mere Dost. So tune in. In this episode of Urdunama, Fabeha Syed explores the word Fursat, those rare moments of time when you can pause, breathe, and just be. What does it mean in Urdu poetry? We look at the ashaar of Ghalib, Faiz, and Sahir, tracing how each poet reflects on these small luxuries: the freedom to imagine, the quiet spaces that let life breathe, and the way even fleeting moments can feel enormous. From daydreaming about the beloved to feeling the weight of solitude and the world's relentless pace, fursat becomes more than just leisure, it's a window into the soul. Tune in. Sarah didn't think she'd be looking to Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as examples of good Democratic communicators. But all of a sudden, they're some of the only people in the Democratic Party showing how to get the Trump opposition engaged. Faiz Shakir, Sanders' adviser and 2020 presidential campaign manager, joins the show to talk about Sanders' and Ocasio-Cortez's rallies around the country, why he thinks they'll advance the Democratic Party going forward, and what even moderates can learn from their approach.
