We are back! After a lengthy hiatus Evan and Joel are back! We talk about allowing yourself to feel feelings without trying to control them or allowing them to impact your actions and how giving yourself space to FEEL, can lead you to answers about yourself or your goals, that you didn't even know you were looking for! Be honest with yourself is the best way to love yourself!
This week we discuss the famous " Man in the Arena" speech from Theodore Roosevelt and the incredible relevance it still carries today about how others will sometimes try to downplay or ridicule the goals and work of others in order to make themselves feel better about their lack of courage, meaning, fortitude, or belief. Instead of popping someones balloon, go find your own!
Great conversation about building habits for sustainable success through small, intentional choices on a consistent basis to develop healthy habits and eliminate bad ones to increase productivity and results in all areas of life!
We are back after an unintentional hiatus! We take a look at how Strength and hardness is needed to build, protect, and fortify, and softness can be used to create comfort and "feelings" of safety. Ultimately we need both, but it is our job to balance What we seek, and when. Memento Mori is much darker when you forget the other half which is Memento Vivere. As always, We believe balance is the ultimate discipline. Enjoy!
Good Discussion about the upside of being "Friendzoned" and how excommunicating people who care about you for not being romantically interested in you can be incredibly detrimental to your life in the long run because of the amount of valuable relationships you can lose by thinking like a caveman, Chime in and let us know what you think!
Joel and Evan Have an awesome conversation about the problems with lowering standards to achieve "Success" and the negative impact universal equity of outcome can have on the overall quality of our lives. We hope you enjoy, and would love to hear what you think!

This week we start out with a discussion on the dangers of selling a "quick fix" for vulnerable people looking to learn self defense. Also covered is the idea of either living with your choices and being happy, or changing the things you prioritize to get different results rather than complaining about the consequences of choices that we made on our own for ourselves. Do what makes you happy. Control what you can control.
On this episode we talk about how toughness is a choice that is made every single day, telling yourself the truth in relation to your capabilities and goals, and understanding that feelings are meant to be FELT, not discarded, discredited, demonized or avoided. We talk about how our loved ones make sacrifices for us in telling us what we don' want to hear, and better ways to deal with negative feelings, self talk, or explosive emotions. Thanks for helping us make it to 101 episodes. WE LOVE YOU.
Today we talk about a philosophical question of friendship. Do you LOVE your friends? If not, should you find new friends? Or, should you work on BEING a better friend? Balancing ego and accountability cant be hard, but if you can't be happy for your friends, something is missing. We hope to help you find friends that you can not help but love.
Brief solo episode about my thoughts on a recent social media encounter and some of the underlying reasons why it may have gone the way it did. I'll talk about my opinion on why the saying "misery loves company" seems so fitting and true in these types of exchanges and how realizing where a person is coming from can help you at least feel empathy for their situation. The second half is a realization I had in explaining the importance grip breaking and gi training to a beginner student and how that relates to removing the obstacles that stop us from understanding our true value and distort our perception of ourselves. I hope you enjoy, and i hope this helps anyone who may be struggling to love yourself. Have a great week!
It's been a long time coming but we Finally have our friend Ellocin Daz on the podcast! Ellocin does all kinds of stuff! Today's episode is pointed, passionate and probably gonna piss some people off. Although we find ourselves in times of grave government overstep and dismantling of freedoms across the world, many of us are too busy being mad at each other about things we are told to feel by politicians. The hypocrisy of global politicians is no longer something to avoid talking about. Most of us don't trust politicians, or politics? So why do we let them tell us how we should feel? Why do we allow them to separate us, and cost us our mental health, friendships, relationships and sometimes more? Hypocrisy is something that we explore to see if it is possible to be virtuous and a hypocrite at the same time? We hope you will listen to this episode in its entirety and are happy and willing to have open dialogue with anyone out there about the times we are in. More than ever. we need LOVE, we need consistency, we need virtue. We must not let true virtue die. Let's talk!
Awesome discussion with our friend Chris about how being fully committed to something is often easier than part time committed. Chris is currently on an 821 day streak without a day off from running. Check it out for an awesome insight into acheiving great things one small decision at a time!
Evan and Joel had a great time discussing the relationship between reasons youre unable to do something over time, and how a legitimate reason that is keeping you from your goals today, becomes an excuse as time passes and it remains unresolved. We offer a strategy to deal with the sometimes overwhelming feelings of fear and imposter syndrome that can creep in when we are challenging ourselves to pursue something far outside of our comfort zone. " If you don't sacrifice for what you want, then what you want becomes the sacrifice."
Today we discuss the give and take relationship between being either " A jack of all trades" or top level elite at one specific thing and the sacrifices that you will need to make no matter which path you choose, how to decide who to invite to your wedding, and why Evan half way reads a lot of books. Enjoy!
Awesome First episode of the new year with Joel and Evan talking about the differences between fate and destiny, how the choices you make can impact the path you take, and what you can do to make sure that your destiny becomes your fate. This one was a lot of fun. Enjoy!
The Story of Sisyphus is not the happiest or most heartwarming story, but the value of understanding the stoic Principle of controlling what you can, when you can, where you can, cant be overstated. In life, we all have a different rock to push. Often times, the act of choosing to do this with a positive attitude will lead us to where we hope to be. Evan and Joel have a great discussion about how being "humble", can lead to us having a hard time believing that we are valuable and capable enough to live a meaningful fulfilling life through our work. The opposite of Nihilishm is Gratitude, and we hope this discussion will help you believe in yourself and take the first step toward living your best possible life.
This week we talk about the damage being done to our society with the black and white mentality, ostracizing of people who don't fit into a specific mold and the disappearing of nuanced, meaningful conversations between people on some of the biggest issues facing us right now. The power of love is not in the ability to always agree or never be unhappy with one another. The power of love is that it persists. The power of love is that it can bring us together without us all having to agree about everything. We need Nuance in our Thinking, but more than anything, we need LOVE.
Plot twists incoming! Lot of talk today about building a sustainable baseline of balance in your life, unhealthy expectations, the perfect chaos that is the universe, and the incredible design of the planet we live on. Life isnt perfect... GOOD.
Today we had our friend Lianna back for an awesome conversation on many different levels about topics ranging from imposter syndrome, to physical fitness, mental health, empowering women, humility as a vessel for credibility in business and leadership, and reputation vs. character. This was so much fun we hope you enjoy! Lianna also is the host of her own podcast " This World, My View". Give her a listen, she's Awesome!
High Energy day here at the fight for tomorrow studio! We get into lots of things, and how even though everything is different, everything is the same. Many of the lessons and experiences we learn in life can be utilized across many different aspects of living. Also a friendly reminder that Balance is the true discipline. Thank you and enjoy!
The idea of darkness and light, hardship and strength, obstacles and overcoming them are often thought of separately. Today we dive into the necessary and natural relationship the opposing sides have in our lives, our world and our universe. The obstacle IS the way.
Join us for a conversation with Michelle! Michelle is a mom, an ultra-runner, psychologist, a deep thinker and an all around TOUGH cookie. on this episode we will cover lots of different topics but all of it will help you deposit in your "warrior bank". Dont miss it!
Our Boy Joel is Back! We get to hear from him about his experience at the MOAB 240 endurance race and congratulate him on his success! This is just the beginning! Enjoy the bonus at the end. We were done but he was still talking so I added it without telling him :)
One more monologue before Jo-el Returns from MOAB where he just COMPLETED the Moab 240 endurance run! On this short episode Ill talk about some revelations i've had during the transtion out of my corporate job about the way that we sometime try to fit our purpose into our "job" rather than crafting the way we earn a living based around things that "fill our bucket." Hope this helps you get started on the path!
Evan Is all alone on this one. Join Me for A short episode where Ill detail some of the trap doors that we can fall into during periods of transition from one part of our life to the next. When you know the purpose but feel like you get stuck in sort of a holding pattern where you cant really put the rubber to the road just yet. How can we stay motivated, Patient and on path during these times? This is a struggle that doesnt really feel like a struggle which, in being harder to identify as such, it becomes harder to implement solutions to pull us out of the mud. Hope this helps! Enjoy!
On todays episode we discuss the problem of overplanning, The downside of destinations, The hard part about big goals, and the true power of love. We hope you enjoy this one half as much as we did!
On this episode we talk about the tendency most people have to overestimate their competency or preparedness to deal with things that they have no prior experience in. In this instance, pertaining to self defense and protecting others. We also cover boundaries, situational awareness and 9/11. Better to be a Warrior in a garden, than a Gardener who finds themself in a war. Enjoy!
We have our Friend Sebastion from Singapore, who Fled the country due to COVID protocols looking for freedom. 9,500 miles from home, he found it With Zach Maslany and 10th planet Bethlehem right here in the USA. We hope you enjoy his story of Leglocks, Lockdowns, and Liberty. Life Is Hard. Gratitude is Easy.
A conversation on the loss of perspective we are experiencing in America at this time and how the unfortunate reality is that many times it takes great tragedy for us to unite after we have become divided, bitter and ungrateful for our home, our neighbors, and our freedoms.
We discuss in depth some of the similarities and nuanced differences between being Tough, or resilient and some of the larger implications of both. Enjoy!
Goals and commitment are sometimes things that we THINK we have figured out, until we start down a path and realize this is not what we want. What is the difference between deciding something isnt for you and giving up on yourself? What would the childhood version of you think of the current version of you? Would the life you are living make them feel heard, appreciated, and loved? If you won't do it for you, do it for them.
Important episode on the personal responsibility we have to make our homes, our cities, our country and our planet a better place to live rather than being somewhere we exist. We can all make everything better for each other. But only if we do it TOGETHER. Love is the answer.
This week we discuss the importance of love, not only from your support system, but especially self love in finding hope for change, growth, progress or the ability to give back love to help others who may be in dark times. Love is the light that will lead you out of the darkness, and it comes from within.
Among other things we talk about (unfortunately) the antics and conduct of Conor Mcgregor after his last loss this weekend. The debate was, does money corrupt? We explore both sides of this coin and we hope you enjoy the conversation!
We started off talking about a few different topics but we settled in to a very meaningful conversation about Fate, Destiny, Choices, Life, and death, and how they are all closely related. We consider how no one is ever ready for the next step in whatever path they are on until AFTER they take it, and how knowing the difference between fate and destiny can help you perform at your highest level no matter what your endeavor. The three stoic principles of Memento Mori, Memento Viviere, and Amor Fati help encapsulate this Perfectly. One of our favorite discussions to date and we hope you will love it just as much as we did.
Open conversation about the levels of learning for any new skill you are trying to develop. First is knowledge, then you must apply. If you can apply, you must understand in order to teach. When you can marry all of these concepts to perpetualize growth, you can master a skill. Among other topics are intentional practice, application of skills, experience, growth mindset, and the difference between doing and teaching.

This one was a lot of fun and we are CERTAIN you will enjoy.
Today is all about the way. We talk about finding common ground with others to set boundaries, and dive into the way of the martial arts according to Miyamoto Musashi and how the Way of the warrior parallels the way of a farmer, or master carpenter, chef or any other life path. The interesting thing about devoting yourself to a particular "way" is that in mastering one, you become adept at many more. Recommended reading is The Mook Of The Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi, translated by William Scott Wilson. Enjoy!
Today I had My Friend Lianna on the show. Lianna is a lot of things, to name a few, Mom, Massage Therapist (Not a PT) Travel Junkie, BJJ blue Belt, philosopher, and all around a wise "old soul". We had a great discussion about her latest personal endeavor to help empower women through their experiences to be their most confident self. Also covered: navigating hardship, resilience, Jiu-jitsu, love, parenting and more. Check it out! You can find her on Instagram at ladyandthetrip or online at ladyandthetrip.com. Enjoy!
This week we discuss what memorial day means to us to get us started and get into a discussion about Ways to use your darkest times as your biggest catalyst for growth with some personal stories. Its important not to compare your struggles with others, just to support others when we can along the way. On the flip side of that coin, we must remember that our friends can help pull us out of a dark hole, but ultimately, we must continue to climb on our own in order to overcome. We hope you'll enjoy!
