The National Concert Hall in Ireland has cancelled our planned performance of the OCTOBER 7 play.It seems there is no room in Ireland for the truth about Israel. This is very serious. It is terrible news for us - terrible news for the truth but really terrible news for Ireland's reputation. We went to Israel after the massacres to collect the testimony of those who lived through the country's darkest day. We saw there was a need for the truth in Ireland and further afield. We created OCTOBER 7, a verbatim play, from the stories we heard. The New York Post described the play as “compelling”.We bring the behind-the-scenes drama and our plans to beat the Irish ban.Watch today's podcast to hear the full behind-the-scenes story of how they are trying to kill the truth in Ireland. And the vile anti-Semitic abuse that we have experienced just for wanting to tell the truth. And we ask if Ireland is the most anti-Semitic country in Europe. The podcast features an interview with our old friend and frequent guest Jenny Holland. She has special insight into the madness as a former liberal journalist, who grew up in New York and is now living in Ireland. A brave soul indeed. She also has very interesting insights into the rot at the heart of the arts establishment on both sides of the Atlantic. It's worse than you think. You can read her “Saving Culture (from itself)” Substack and visit her YouTube channel through the links below. And Phelim finds it hard to say but it has to be said he has sympathy for Eric Swalwell and so should you. We reveal the truth you won't see elsewhere. And we bring back one of our favorite recipes! Ann made scones (which should be pronounced like sconn or should it?). Now do you put the clotted cream or jam (jelly) on first? Put your method in the comments. And we bring you some very crazy headlines this week. First, we present to you the manager of a sober bar that was charged with drunk driving. Also there was a raccoon in Virginia that couldn't hold his liquor, and passed out in a store bathroom. And no his name wasn't Eric Swalwell. Watch the cutest bandit on this week's show!!We are determined to bring OCTOBER 7 the play to Ireland but we need your help. We did it! 1,000 episodes! Today we celebrate our achievement by talking about a scandal on Mt. Everest where we don't even know who the villain is. We find out what an everyday superpower is and we discuss what ours are. We learn about the woman who created the star categorization system that is still used. We hear why some people are getting exposed for their non-Christian attitudes through their treatment of a statue of Jesus. We discuss a man who flew 16,000 feet in the air using a lawn chair and some balloons. In this talk, i share what is a Irish Goodbye. It's something you may already have been doing and had no clue. CONQUER SHYNESS
You've probably heard of the "Irish Goodbye" where you leave a party without saying goodbye to anyone BUT have you heard of the "Midwest Goodbye" (it's quite the opposite)
This episode of The Rizzuto Show is what happens when a completely normal conversation gets absolutely hijacked by the internet—and somehow turns into a full-blown existential crisis disguised as a funny podcast. It starts innocent enough: is social media actually making us miserable? You know, light, thoughtful, borderline responsible content. But within minutes, the show derails into one of the most aggressively dumb (and weirdly brilliant) “Would You Rather” scenarios ever introduced. You're forced to sleep on a bed shaped like a capital letter… but you can never eat foods that start with that letter again. Suddenly, everyone's doing mental gymnastics trying to protect ice cream, watermelon, noodles, and whatever else they emotionally depend on. It becomes a full-blown strategy session that nobody asked for—but nobody can stop thinking about. From there, things escalate like only a funny podcast can. The crew debates whether they'd relive high school (trauma included) or fast-forward to being 80 for a week just to see how bad things get. Then comes the nightmare scenario of going viral for something you absolutely don't want—aka becoming “that person” on the internet forever. And yes, somehow that turns into a deep dive on ego, fame, and whether you'd rather be funny or respected… which gets way more personal than expected. But the real star of this episode? The art of leaving a party. What starts as a simple question turns into a cultural breakdown between the legendary Irish Goodbye (aka “The Moondini”) and the Midwest Goodbye, where you say goodbye 47 times, have three more conversations, and somehow end up in the driveway for another hour. It's painfully relatable, slightly chaotic, and somehow becomes the most heated debate of the episode.By the end, the crew stumbles into “adult cheat codes”—the weird little life rules that actually make things easier, like not caring what people think, using a calendar like a functioning human, and realizing nobody is thinking about you as much as you think they are. It's ridiculous, it's relatable, and it's exactly what you expect from a funny podcast that thrives on turning small ideas into full-blown chaos.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShowHear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The fastest way to rethink your friendships is to stop measuring them by how close you are and start measuring them by how safe they are. In this episode, we go deeper into how to spot the difference between healthy and unhealthy friendships—especially as you grow, heal, or enter a new season. We define what “healthy” actually looks like: consistent reciprocity, real curiosity, and trust that holds even when you don't talk for a while. We also explore how friendships with different kinds of people can push your growth, and how long-term relationships can evolve without blowing up.Then we call out the red flags: one-sided venting, constant reassurance, transactional dynamics, and that quiet dread when their name pops up on your phone. We dig into rumination, boundaries, and how overgiving to low-equity relationships drains the ones that matter most. Finally, we lay out what to do next—how to set boundaries, when to pull back, and when it's okay to quietly let a friendship go.

Everyone is a little bit Irish today, especially if you are in Midtown Manhattan. The St. Patrick's Day Parade is rolling in, and after you have finished a pint of Guinness (or two, or several), and it's time for you to roll out, you may want to master the art of the Irish Goodbye. While some people think it's important to bid farewell to everyone at the shindig, Kennedy (and many others) is in favor of quietly slipping out. In today's episode, two authors tackle everyday experience through short-form writing. First, The Irish Goodbye is a collection of micro-memoirs by the poet Beth Ann Fennelly. In these recollections, she considers childhood, marriage, and old friends – and she told NPR's Scott Simon about the immense difficulty she had writing about her sister's death. Then, Anne Fadiman joins Simon to discuss Frog: and Other Essays, in which she takes on topics like a printer, an unpettable pet, M&Ms, and the rules of grammar. To listen to Book of the Day sponsor-free and support NPR's book coverage, sign up for Book of the Day+ at plus.npr.org/bookofthedayTo manage podcast ad preferences, review the links below:See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for sponsorship and to manage your podcast sponsorship preferences.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy

Have you ever left a social gathering without saying goodbye? What were your reasons? In addiction, we are experts in Irish goodbyes! How do you think people feel when we disappear without a goodbye? When we stay away for days and never check in? So whether you are the one who gave the Irish goodbye, or if you have been the receiver of one, or if you've been ghosted by someone on social media, this epieosde is for you!
Nathan, Caleb, and Nick go over the results from the international break, including some shockingly good football involving Scotland and Ireland. Plus, musings on Cape Verde (whose population does not, in fact, fit in Massachusetts), old Watford players, Yamal's injuries, and more.
Tobin and Leroy are still not over Mike McDaniels decision to go for it on that 4th and 1 in Madrid, just enjoy the win and bye week guys! Last night Jimmy Butler made his “return” to Miami but did not play. The guys break down his irish goodbye and Bam's subtle shade. A caller needs answers to the Dolphins struggles at the start of the game, and Leroy is there to save the day.
The crew opens the day still worked up over Mike McDaniel's 4th-and-1 gamble in Madrid before shifting to Jimmy Butler's low-key Miami appearance and Bam's quiet jab, with Leroy stepping in to diagnose the Dolphins' slow starts. Tobin then goes on a full rant about Steve Kerr, recoils at a bizarre birthday message from Skip Bayless, and faces more disbelief over his infamous snake tale, all while Brittney jumps in with her Dancing With the Stars breakdown and the show reacts to fresh sound from Mahomes, Rodgers, and Spo. Hour three brings “evidence” of Tobin's barely-audible boo aimed at Jimmy Butler, more interrogation about his snake saga, and a spirited round of Goosies or No Goosies that sends him spiraling when Leroy insists he doesn't hate Aaron Rodgers. The show closes at peak chaos: Tobin celebrating Vice Night at Kaseya Center, Spo's thoughts on beating the Warriors, and a round of laughs at Leroy's expense after AI slander leaves him salty—all while the silly sauce hits maximum strength.
In this special episode of the podcast (recorded live at Zibby's Petite Retreat in Greenwich), Zibby interviews bestselling debut author Heather Aimee O'Neill about her achingly poignant and gripping novel, THE IRISH GOODBYE (which was a Read With Jenna book club pick!). Zibby and Heather discuss the novel's exploration of sisterhood, grief, and forgiveness as three women return home to confront their brother's death and the secrets that have haunted them for years. Heather opens up about her family's connection to 9/11, how that experience shaped her understanding of loss, and the power of compassion and humor in healing.Share, rate, & review the podcast, and follow Zibby on Instagram @zibbyowens!** Follow @totallybookedwithzibby on Instagram for listening guides and more. **(Music by Morning Moon Music. You know that feeling when you rediscover something—a sound, a feeling—that makes you feel young again? Takes you back 25-plus years? Just hits you right between the eyes? I do, because it happened the second I heard the opening riff of “Irish Goodbye,” the first single from latest album by the Minneapolis-based band the Honeydogs. That jangly guitar took me back to 1996/97, when the so-called alt.country music scene was just getting started. So it was a thrill to welcome Honeydogs singer/songwriter Adam Levy to the show and talk about the band's first album in almost 10 years, Algebra for Broken Hearts. More than that, this is the first album with the original lineup since 1997—so yeah, there's a familiarity here that's hard to beat. Adam talks about getting the band back together, writing songs with the new-old band, jamming with the band's drummer, brother Noah Levy, and a ton more. So sit back, dig in and jam out as Adam Levy joins me on For Songs.

New York singer-songwriter Willie has released sixteen albums since 1980. He has opened for The Who and Bruce Springsteen, among others, but rejected the major label life after his first two albums. We discuss "An Irish Goodbye" (feat. Paul Brady) from The Great Yellow Light (2025) (and listen at the end to "Wake Up, America" feat. Steve Earle from that album), "Cell Phones Ringing (In the Pockets of the Dead)" from Streets of New York (2006), and the title track from Places I Have Never Been (1991). Intro: "Vagabond Moon" from Willie Nile (1980). Hear more Nakedly Examined Music. Support us on Patreon. Thank You To Our Partners, The Institute, AutoFlow, AutoLeap, Shop Dog Marketing, In-BoundWatch Full Video EpisodeIn our episode today…I want to discuss the benefits of the recent camping trip my wife and I enjoyed in Northern Michigan. As our listeners well understand - we talk a lot about getting outside our comfort zones on this podcast - and while that is usually in the context of practicing our communication skills, today, the topic is more about stepping AWAY… Specifically from people, electronics, and modern comforts or modes of transportation, and instead highlight the benefits of immersing yourself in nature and rebooting your mind.My wife, Betsy, and I did our stepping away together by stepping onto a ferryboat and taking a nearly 2-hour trip West into Lake Michigan. We traveled from Fishtown in Leland (tip of the pinky on the Michigan map) and docked at South Manitou Island, where we would hike and camp with only the things we carried.South Manitou is a 10-mile circumference, barely inhabited island in the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. Its pristine fresh water is as blue as the Caribbean, just not as warm!If our adventure intrigues you, you'll enjoy this episode, as I hope to challenge and encourage you to seek out a similar type of adventure, as well as learn why I think this topic merits greater emphasis in our modern lives, now more than ever.Today's WOTD is: GarrulousGAIR-uh-lusadjectiveContaining many and often too many words.Talkative. Verbosity.“He delivered a rather garrulous speech.”Some Context:This camping trip has been on the calendar for me and my wife most of the year. Our anniversary gift(s) to ourselves has involved a mix of ordering camping gear online -to frequent trips to REI.What's important to note is that I have virtually no real experience ‘camping' or ‘backpacking.'Sure, I am into rucking as a fitness regime, and that builds strength to carry heavy loads long distances - hiking and backpacking involve practical gear, and as light a load as you can possibly make to bring what you need to survive. Our goals were threefold. 1.) Unplug and disconnect from devices, noise, and distraction2.) Immerse ourselves in nature3.) Reboot and return refreshed - with the “Three Day Effect” (which we'll explain)My hope was that this will improve for my wife and I both, our creative minds, our ability to focus and solve problems, and in general become more adept with backpacking and camping to take longer adventures together!UNPLUG:On the goal of disconnecting:Listen. I've felt like stepping away from constant connection for a while now.I've done something of an Irish Goodbye with Facebook. That is, I never said anything, I just sort of left it. There are so many reasons, many of which our Speak Up listeners are familiar with. Despite benefiting from a social media presence in my career, I am no fan of social media.I could tell you more about alarming statistics of wasted human time (i.e. that the equivalent of 200,000 entire human lifetimes are spent endlessly scrolling social media)I could talk about how companies like Meta are harvesting every piece of data they can about you to manipulate you to a.) spend more time on their ecosystem and b.) spend money with their advertisers.I could tell you I'm sick of being distracted…But the real catalyst for me was regarding some exchanges I observed among even respected friends. Public disputes were becoming more common - toxic groupthink was becoming more normalized - and antithetical points...
