Most restoration owners have a crazy story about how they got into the business, but very few have survived a first job so brutal it almost drove them out of the industry forever. In this episode of Restoration Pros Unplugged, host Clinton James sits down with Andrew Rickabaugh, co-owner of Rick and Ball Restoration and a One Tom Plumber franchise in Huntsville, Alabama. Andrew pulls back the curtain on his non-linear path to entrepreneurship, spanning roles as a paramedic, firefighter, Huntsville police officer, and a 20-year career in the Marine Corps. The real turning point, however, came at age 24 when he was hired into a restoration firm as an area manager, only to find himself leading an operational disaster. Handed a mountain of derailed reconstruction files, Andrew spent his days visiting furious homeowners and eating crow for mistakes made by completely unmanaged crews. The experience was so exhausting that he quit after 364 days, vowing never to set foot in the restoration industry again. The story didn't end there. Years later, a call from his brother-in-law and business partner, Kevin Ball, convinced him to return on his own terms to launch an independent company. Andrew breaks down how they put their heads down and did the dirty grunt work themselves, organically climbing the organic rankings to become the highest-rated restoration firm in a hyper-competitive market. He details their strategic expansion into the commercial market, explaining what it takes to find and manage a high-performing business development rep who isn't afraid to pick up the phone and build long-term relationships with property managers. To eliminate the expensive, margin-choking bidding wars over third-party plumbing referrals, Andrew and Kevin made the bold choice to buy a One Tom Plumber franchise. Now managing a team in the mid-30s with a fleet of 15 service vehicles, Andrew shares raw insight into how they handle modern operational constraints. He explains how they utilize AI tools to audit scopes and counter insurance adjusters using strict IICRC guidelines, and why they are aggressively pivoting toward a customer financing model to bypass carrier delays and compress their average 30-day reconstruction start times.Whether you are a military veteran looking to make the leap into home services or an established restorer feeling trapped as the bottleneck in your own business, Andrew's perspective on efficiency, tech integration, and self-reliance will reframe your growth strategy. He leaves listeners with a powerful reminder on the true value of entrepreneurship: if you don't own your business, you can't control your future.- Connect with Our GuestLearn more about Andrew and his team: www.rickandball.com- Scale Your Restoration BusinessWant to generate exclusive, high-intent water damage jobs and build an inbound marketing system you actually own? (6) James Tabor examines how, during the Jewish Revolt (66–70 CE), the movement fled Jerusalem for a "hideout" in Pella, Jordan. However, Mary disappears from the historical record before this event, likely dying on Mount Zion in the 50s or 60s. Tabor notes her absence in Paul's letters and the later chapters of Acts, despite her earlier presence at Pentecost. He discusses the tradition of the Dormition, suggesting she remained in Jerusalem until her death. This disappearance marks a transition where the historical Mary was gradually "written out" of the emerging Christiannarrative.1842 Masada

Welcome to The B-Side! Here we talk about movie stars! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones that they made in between.  Today we talk about a truly underrated star: Laurence Fishburne! Our B-Sides include: Bad Company, Fled, Hoodlum, and Biker Boyz. Conor and guest host Mitchell Beaupre discuss Fishburne's early work, his movie star run (the mid-90s, of which three of our B-Sides are a part of!), and the roles he passed on over the years.  They debate whether or not Kevin Hooks' Fled (a ‘90s take on The Defiant Ones) is worth the watch, if Oliver Parker's Othello works as a movie, and that other time Fishburne played a character based on famous gangster Bumpy Johnson (that would be Francis Ford Coppola's underrated The Cotton Club). There's a celebration of Bill Duke's directorial career (the legendary actor made Hoodlum and also Deep Cover, both starring Fishburne) and a conversation about Biker Boyz internal conflict in being a Fast & Furious movie.

Between the night Celeste Rivas Hernandez was allegedly last seen alive and the day her remains were discovered in a tow yard in Hollywood, David Anthony Burke allegedly kept living his life. He reportedly traveled to a remote area of Santa Barbara in the middle of the night. He performed at Coachella. He released his debut album. He launched a world tour. And the people around him — his manager, his close friend Neo Langston, his family — allegedly said nothing. When the grand jury came calling, Neo Langston fled to Montana. He was arrested and extradited back to Los Angeles. Burke's parents filed court papers in Texas trying to block their own subpoenas. And for months, while the public demanded answers about a dead child found in a celebrity's car, the people closest to Burke reportedly stayed silent. In Part 2 of this three-part interview series, psychotherapist Shavaun Scott sits down with Tony Brueski to examine the psychology of that silence. What allows someone to allegedly perform for thousands of people while carrying knowledge of something this extreme? What does the alleged act of dismemberment reveal about someone's psychological state? What happens inside a person like Neo Langston when loyalty finally collapses into cooperation? And when a family fights this hard to avoid answering questions — is that love, denial, or something darker?Scott has spent three decades in forensic mental health and violence psychology. She doesn't speculate. She reads behavior. And what the behavior in this case allegedly reveals is deeply disturbing.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? There were moments in Mary Tudor's life when escape seemed like the safest choice. Imperial ambassadors discussed secret routes to the coast. Ships waited across the Channel. Loyal advisers urged her to leave England before her enemies could move against her. In this video, we look at the most dangerous periods of Mary's early life, first under her father Henry VIII, when Anne Boleyn's rise left her isolated, illegitimate, and under constant pressure, and then again under her brother Edward VI, when her refusal to abandon the Catholic Mass brought her into direct conflict with the Protestant government. At least once, imperial ships were ready to carry her to safety in the Low Countries. All she had to do was go. But Mary refused every plan. She stayed in England, even when it put her at risk, and that decision would shape the dramatic events of 1553, when she claimed the throne. This is the story of the times Mary nearly escaped, and why she chose not to. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Netanyahu government may not have officially annexed the West Bank, but the ongoing settler violence expelling Palestinian communities from their land – plus the changes in regulation imposing Israeli authority and areas meant for Palestinian self-rule – is driving momentum in that direction, Haaretz West Bank correspondent Matan Golan said on the Haaretz Podcast. Golan described the ongoing ordeal in the Bedouin community of Mukhmas on the podcast, a case study which illustrates the settlers' use of daily harassment and ongoing attacks on both residents and their property to force Palestinians to relocate into an increasingly small portion of the territory. The settler outpost of Kol Mevaser terrorizing Mukhmas "has been depopulated and destroyed at least nine times," by Israeli authorities since its establishment in late October, when the young settlers living there engaged in their first spree of beatings, assaults and arson. "Each time, the settlers just escape to the hills below – and despite the fact that it's a closed military zone," she said, they return – and later brag of their destructive acts against Palestinians on social media. The IDF has consistently failed to provide enough protection for Palestinian residents to remain in their homes, she said. The Israeli and international activists try to provide a protective presence, which helps prolong the Palestinians' struggles to remain, but it has proven unsuccessful: Nearly 50 communities have been forcibly displaced since summer 2023, according to B'Tselem. On the podcast, Golan also discusses the recent announcement by Netanyahu government officials declaring that it is taking authority in areas meant to be controlled by the Palestinian Authority, in violation of the Oslo Accords. The fact that such measures are being taken to weaken the Palestinian Authority and prevent a two-state solution, she said, "are no secret." Trust account expert Lazaro Cardenas explained to jurors that Keith Caneiro's $3 million life insurance policy was held in a trust where Paul was the trustee — and that trust would only benefit Paul if Keith, Jennifer, Sophia, and Jesse were all dead. Every single one of them. Prosecutors say this is why the children weren't spared. The jury also heard from Dennis Corpora, a neighbor who was awakened by gunshots around 3:20 AM on November 20th, 2018. His immediate reaction: "Someone just got whacked." He knew it was a pistol. He called police twice. By morning, Keith Caneiro was dead on his front lawn with five gunshot wounds. His wife and children were stabbed and left to die in a burning house. The defense is fighting back by pointing to the third Caneiro brother, Corey, who fled to Pennsylvania on the morning of the murders — before Keith's family had even been discovered. Corey was seen giving Paul money that morning. His wife contacted police instead of him. A civil lawsuit alleges he later maneuvered himself into control of the insurance proceeds. But prosecutors have something the defense can't explain away: DNA matching both children found on bloody jeans in Paul's basement, a murder weapon in Paul's house, and surveillance footage showing Paul disconnecting his cameras at 1:28 AM. Questions aren't evidence. And the evidence leads to Paul.#PaulCaneiro #CaneiroBrothersTrial #ColtsNeckMurders #CoreyCaneiro #NewJerseyTrial #CourtTV #TrueCrime #FamilyAnnihilator #MansionMurders #TheCrimeTimesJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? At first, it was easy to explain away. Old house noises. A scared kid's imagination.Until someone else felt it too. Until furniture was moved. Until a voice made itself heard. And finally, until her mother woke up with hands around her throat, staring into the face of the same man her children had already seen. Send us a textEp 269 ---We're starting with some devastating news about Melissa Gilbert's husband Timothy Busfield being accused of sexually assaulting children on set, and this is going to destroy her world if true. Then I'm diving into Real Housewives of Salt Lake City gossip where Bronwyn and Todd officially separated and he's already been spotted with another woman in San Francisco - told you this was all a ruse! Monica Garcia is outing Heather Gay without using her name, and wait until you hear what she's implying was in Heather's suitcase that Jen Shah needed at BravoCon 2022. Whitney Rose's drinking problem gets exposed at the reunion with some very concerning behavior, and Mary Cosby did something absolutely unforgivable when a church member died in a tragic accident - the family speaks out and I hint as to what's to come for her. In my Season 16 Episode 16 recap, the women perform a Greek tragedy play that reveals everyone's weaknesses, Bronwyn confronts Meredith about using her for information, and all the women stage what feels like an intervention accusing Meredith of being on something. Vicki Gunvalson got rehired by Andy Cohen personally and immediately sold Coto Insurance, Heather Dubrow did NOT get offered RHOBH despite all her hints sort of, and Alex Baskin spills tea about Amanda Frances being messy on purpose. I summarize the best of what he spilled. Ashley Tisdale mom scandal and Crystal Minkoff's 14 friends. The Switzerland nightclub fire that killed 40 people gets even darker when you hear what the owners Jacques and Jessica Moretti did with the cash register while guests burned, plus this guy already had convictions for pimping and kidnapping, we discuss. Chris Redd finally confesses to his affair with Kenan Thompson's wife and reveals he was selling Adderall to SNL cast members. Gail Brophy gives an unfiltered interview about the Palm Beach Members Only drama and claims Taja set her up and physically assaulted her. Taja then attacks back. Hear the receipts. And I'm ending with a modern day grave robber named Jonathan Gerlach who had over 100 human skulls in his house including mummified children - you won't believe what else they found and what he was doing with it!Full episode only available at Dishing Drama Dana Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/cw/DishingDramaWithDanaWilkeySupport the showDana is on Cameo!Follow Dana: @Wilkey_Dana$25,000 Song - Apple Music$25,000 Song - SpotifyTo support the show and listen to full episodes, become a member on PatreonTo send Dana information, show requests and sponsorships reach out to our new email: dishingdramadana@gmail.comDana's YouTube Channel

Some experiences don't feel terrifying in the moment. They feel confusing. IDesiree was eleven years old when the apartment started behaving strangely. It wasn't loud at first. It wasn't dramatic. Just small things that repeated often enough to feel intentional — footsteps in the hallway that stopped when someone looked, the sense of movement where no one should be, the feeling of being corrected… like a child being guided instead of chased. Some moments were easy to explain away. Others weren't. A shove that came from nowhere. A presence at the foot of the bed. A hand moving slowly down her back while she was wide awake — gentle enough to feel familiar, wrong enough to never forget. The adults heard things too. But no one talked about it. It wasn't until years later, after the family moved out, that the truth about that apartment finally came out — and suddenly, the pattern made sense in a way that was deeply unsettling.  #RealGhostStories #TrueGhostStory #HauntedApartment #ParanormalPodcast #GhostEncounter #UnexplainedTouch #CreepyChildhood #HauntedHomes #RealParanormal #ListenerStories  Love real ghost stories? More To The Story: Jason Stanley isn't afraid to use the F-word when talking about President Donald Trump. The author of How Fascism Works and Erasing History: How Fascists Rewrite the Past to Control the Future is clear: He believes the United States is currently under an authoritarian regime led by a fascist leader. At a time when the Trump administration is putting increasing pressure on private and public universities to conform or lose funding, Stanley recently left his position at Yale University and moved his family to Canada, where he's now the Bissell-Heyd chair in American studies at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto. The move, he says, has allowed him to talk about the US in a way that wouldn't have been possible if he remained in the country. On this week's More To The Story, Stanley traces the recent rise of fascist regimes around the globe, and explains why he describes what's happening in the US today as a “coup” and why he thinks the speed and scope of the Trump administration's hardline policies could ultimately lead to significant pushback from those opposed to the president.Producer: Josh Sanburn | Editor: Kara McGuirk-Allison | Theme music: Fernando Arruda and Jim Briggs | Copy editor: Nikki Frick |  Digital producer: Artis Curiskis | Deputy executive producer: Taki Telonidis | Executive producer: Brett Myers | Executive editor: James West | Host: Al Letson Donate today at Revealnews.org/more Subscribe to our weekly newsletter at Revealnews.org/weekly Follow us on Instagram and Bluesky Read: He Studies Fascism: Is He Now Living Through It? 1. Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s Personal Journey: Born in Somalia in 1969, raised in a Muslim household. Fled to the Netherlands in 1992 to escape a forced marriage. Became a Dutch citizen, studied political science, and served in the Dutch Parliament. Transitioned from Islam to atheism, and later converted to Christianity. Currently a research fellow at the Hoover Institution and founder of the AHA Foundation. 2. Defining Political Islam vs. Islam as a Religion: Hirsi Ali distinguishes between Islam as a religion and Islamism (political Islam). She describes Islamism as a totalitarian ideology aiming to establish Islamic dominance globally. Emphasizes the threat posed by groups like the Muslim Brotherhood, which she compares to a “termite infestation” due to their subversive tactics. 3. The Muslim Brotherhood: Founded in 1928 by Hassan al-Banna in Egypt. Described as a decentralized, global movement using both peaceful and violent means to infiltrate societies. Hirsi Ali and Cruz advocate for its designation as a terrorist organization in the U.S. 4. The Red-Green Alliance: A term used to describe the alliance between radical Islamists (green) and Marxist/communist groups (red). Hirsi Ali warns that this alliance is strategically dangerous and aims to undermine Western democratic institutions. 5. Sharia Law and Its Implications: Hirsi Ali outlines the oppressive nature of Sharia law, especially toward women and LGBTQ individuals. She warns of the potential consequences if Islamist ideologies gain influence in Western societies. 6. Islamist Influence in Europe and the U.S.: Hirsi Ali and Cruz discuss the rise of Islamist influence in European cities and the potential for similar developments in the U.S. They express concern over political figures like Zohran Mamdani and Ilhan Omar, suggesting they represent the Red-Green alliance. 7. Persecution of Christians in Nigeria: Cruz and Hirsi Ali highlight the mass murder of Christians by Boko Haram and other Islamist groups. They criticize the Nigerian government for its inaction and call for U.S. sanctions and accountability. 8. Recognition of Somaliland: Hirsi Ali supports recognizing Somaliland as an independent nation. She praises its democratic governance, stability, and alignment with Western values.
