On this episode we chat to Chele Isaac. Chele is an Immersive Installation Artist and exhibit video based installations in project spaces and art museums. Her studio is located in a former church building in downtown Madison. She is active in the arts landscape in Madison and opens her space to other artists– musicians, dancers, film screenings, poetry readings, etc– for rehearsal and exhibition. It’s called the Maiahaus Project Space in tribute to her first dog. She is an invested volunteer for the Arts+Literature Lab (ALL) so some of the programming is connected to them. ALL is an amazing entrepreneurial (women run!) project that you should look at! She is also in the beginning stages of establishing a sustainable farm model in the driftless area. "As an artist/farmer most of my existence is about being alone. But now that I’m being ordered to stay put all I can think about is hosting dinner parties. In terms of being an artist in the age of the pandemic...every venue -museums, galleries, film festivals- is shut down. They are trying to make do with virtual events (the Ann Arbor Film Festival live streamed my work, for instance), but it’s not the same— an integral part of art is the direct contact. I worry about art institutions and especially those working at the community level. What will our cultural fabric look like after this? The other weird thing (on the farm side) is that all of a sudden being self sufficient and in charge of ones food supply is something people are thinking about instead of taking for granted."

Sarah has worked as a meditation teacher, energy healing practitioner and awakening guide for nearly fifteen years and has helped people find their authentic well-being. (To learn more, click here) Sarah performs comedy in Los Angeles and all over. From the profound to the profane, the sublime to the silly, her comedy illuminates the paradox of the human experience. Having gone through her own radical transformation, often known as non-dual awakening, and in working as a mentor and energy healer for many years, Sarah is gathering her wisdom and wit and writing The Divine Mess: How To Be A Nobody In Hollywood. It’s a humorous and helpful book for anyone who yearns to find what spiritual seekers have sought for centuries, or for people who just want to take a deep breath and sleep better at night. At The Hollywood Improv she has produced COSMIC JOKE and now WEIRD ADVICE with Sarah Taylor & Friends in the Lab. Sarah takes THE DIVINE MESS SHOW on tour, which is a one-of-a-kind experience that includes Sarah’s comedy with its unique point of view. Brittany Tainter is a 29 year old creative living in Eau Claire, WI and she's the founder of Giizhig Design Company. She's a member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe of Ojibwe. She started her career solely as a Graphic Designer, but now her work crosses many disciplines and the list continues to grow. Within the last several years, she's begun to connect deeper with her Indigenous roots in various ways such as beadwork and learning Anishinaabemowin (the traditional Ojibwe language). How Covid-19 is impacting her business: "As a graphic designer/creative agency, I've definitely see a drop in clients. I'm not really receiving quote requests and some of my current clients are putting their projects on hold for now. I completely understand the situation. Most of my clients are small business owners, so their income has dropped dramatically. As a beader, my business has also been impacted. With the approach of Spring and Summer, a lot of events like conferences, artist markets, and pow wows were coming up. I typically make the best sales in these scenarios, so I'm taking a hit there. I am grateful because I can sell my beadwork online, but I think the experience is definitely much better in person." Facebook Instagram

I speak four languages and love working on international projects in a fast-paced environment. As a project management consultant I helped project teams succeed in delivering critical multi-million dollar construction, manufacturing and event planning projects. While I LOVED working with my teams in the manufacturing environment, there was one aspect I truly hated: my bulky and manly steel toe boots. After years of frustration I decided to solve this issue by designing and manufacturing fashionable steel-toe footwear for women so that they can finally dress like the professionals they are! In my free time I volunteer as a board member for a non-profit called "Feeding Mouths, Filling Minds" which establishes sustainable water and food supply systems in Western and Eastern African countries. This episode is a very SPECIAL EARLY RELEASE. We recorded season 3 just a few weeks ago. All of our conversations in season 3 were around Covid-19. We wanted to release this episode early since some of the conversation revolved around time sensitive measures. We talked to Karen Cahn from IFundWomen who is working hard to keep women owned businesses doing what they do.   Karen Cahn is the Founder & CEO of IFundWomen, a startup funding platform for women entrepreneurs. The mission of IFundWomen is to close the funding and confidence gap by providing a full-stack solution including crowdfunding, grants, expert business coaching, and a vibrant community of women business owners collaborating on how to win. Karen is a pioneer in tech and media. She was an early Google Intrapreneur where she spent 10 years leading various monetization teams in search, display, and video. Most notably, Karen started the Branded Entertainment business at YouTube, when, back in the olden times of YouTube 2006, she and a rogue group of sales and product managers, made the connection between big consumer brands and video creators, thus creating the first native video ad experiences monetized on YouTube. After a historic 10 year run at Google, Karen spent three years as General Manager of AOL Original Video, and was responsible for business strategy and strategic partnerships. In this role, Karen built AOL’s female creative economy in video and as a result, nabbed AOL its first-ever Emmy nod. Karen is an active angel investor in her own right and through Golden Seeds. Karen is on the board of advisors of Girl Rising, an organization dedicated to girls education in developing countries. She is also on the Springboard Media Council and invests her “human capital” in their pipeline of high-growth, women-led companies. Originally from the suburbs of Boston, Karen migrated to New York City in 1998 to be a part of the early days of the digital media revolution with Salon.com. When she's not working, Karen can be found in her kitchen in Montclair, NJ baking Toll House cookies with her kids (because there is no substitute for Toll House), or outside doing something sporty like playing golf, yoga, tennis, tetherball, or any sport involving a ball and a bat.
