In this episode of the food mentor podcast I chat through “The Holy grail of developing a food or beverage product”. It's no secret that there are thousands of new brands and products launched every year. There are key reasons why some find success and enjoy rapid growth and many really struggle.Having enjoyed partnerships with key high growth brands in recent years I talk through 8 key elements of reducing the risk of failure and optimising the chances of success. If you send me your email address david@djbfoodgroup.com I'll email you a short ebook “the holy grail of developing a new brand and product range”. It's high level, very simple (it may even be obvious to some) but I think it's helpful if you are on a new product range or new brand development journey. I hope you enjoy this episode of the food mentor podcast.  Meet David J Burns https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tZKvu9FOjMw David is the founder of DJB Food Group and Creme design helping manufacturers, brands and entrepreneurs develop innovative new products and brands and then distribute into retail. Ben once again published the wrong file yesterday. Matthew & Bob are having an emergency meeting to discuss. In the meantime here's the actual episode we recorded! It's like they don't like what we have or something. The brothers ponder the lack of trades and the news that it's not for a lack of trying. Then Matthew gives a quiz and accuses Ben of failing it. For the record here is Ben's recollection of how he did on the quiz:#1: Correct, because even though I said the wrong answer I knew what the right answer was but didn't want to say it. I also get credit for getting question 1-B right. So at this point I had a score of 200%#2: Wrong, but because I was at 200%, I'm still at %100.#3: Correct. %150#4: Correct. I'm not sure what the percentage is now, but I'm still acing this test.#5: Wrong. No one gets this one right. Stupid question.#6: Correct. I'm killing it.#7: Correct. I'm a stud.#8: Wrong. I don't want the listeners to feel bad, so I answer another incorrectly. Also, I didn't know the answer.#9: Correct. We cheated on this one because Matthew thought I was doing poorly, because he doesn't listen.#10: Correct.#11: Correct.#12: Wrong. Enrique Pequeno should have been the answer.#13: Correct.#14: Wrong. On the cocktail side of things Matthew is drinking a Final Ward while Ben is drinking a Tribute. There's a whole narrative right now that “vibe coding is a bubble” and all the MRR from AI-built apps isn't real.In this episode, we chat with Jacob Klug, founder of the agency Creme, which specializes in building lovable MVPs on top of tools like Lovable and AI coding assistants. Jacob makes the case that most of the “AI apps are trash” discourse is really a skill issue, not a tool issue—and he breaks down the exact process his team uses to ship full platform-level apps in two-week sprints. We dig into how to scope and design software that doesn't look AI-generated, how to think about personal operating systems vs. SaaS, why ideas are getting worse even as tools get better, and how creators and agencies can turn niche domain expertise into real products. If you're an operator, marketer, or founder trying to figure out how to actually use AI coding tools (instead of just tweeting about them), this one's for you.GuestJacob Klug — founder of Creme, an agency building “lovable MVPs” and full-stack products with Lovable + AI tools; helps founders, startups & enterprises ship production apps in weeks without sacrificing UX.Guest LinksWebsite: https://www.creme.digital/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jacob-klug-37b254156/X (Twitter): https://x.com/JacobsklugWhat You'll LearnWhy the “vibe coding is a bubble” take is mostly a skill and discipline problemHow Jacob's agency ships full startup-grade products using Lovable and AIThe PRD-first formula they use before ever opening a builderHow to decide when to build vs. when to buy software in 2025Why we're entering a wave of personal OSes and custom internal toolsHow to avoid shipping janky AI UI and make your app look intentionally designedThe mindset shift from “I could build anything” → “I will build this one specific thing”Why specializing in one AI tool (Lovable, Cursor, n8n, etc.) beats being “the AI guy”Tactical content and lead-gen plays for agencies on LinkedIn and YouTubeHow to learn AI tooling without getting paralyzed by the infinite possibilitiesTimestamps00:00 — Vibe coding: bubble or breakthrough?02:23 — Effective use of no-code tools05:23 — Stack and scoping for MVP development07:08 — Trends in personal software development10:33 — Personal projects: blood work analysis tool13:00 — Steps to start building custom software17:49 — Successful and unsuccessful product categories21:01 — Learning and adopting AI tools27:45 — Creator collaboration in software development32:14 — Lead generation strategies for AI-powered agenciesKey Topics & Ideas1. Bubble or Skill Issue? Why early no-code/AI apps looked jankyHow tools like Lovable increased automation from ~50% → ~85%The remaining 10–15% where real engineering still mattersMany failures come from non-devs skipping fundamentals2. How Creme Builds Lovable MVPsEvery project starts with a clear PRD (often drafted with ChatGPT)AI is used to tighten scope before buildingWhen Creme stays fully in Lovable vs. moving code to CursorUsing Lovable Cloud for hosting, database, and analytics3. Personal Operating Systems & Internal ToolsPeople replacing SaaS subscriptions with their own custom toolsIn a 20-person cohort, nearly everyone built workflow appsRise of the Personal OS: one system for life + workExample builds:Bloodwork tracker from PDF uploadsUnified messaging CRM (WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, email)Automated 30-second sales briefings4. How to Learn AI Coding ToolsHalf the cohort hadn't built anything before startingMain blocker: overwhelm, not skillLearn core concepts: frontend vs. backend, auth, roles, securityBuild daily reps, focus on the next thing you need—not “all of AI”5. Designing Apps That Don't Look AI-GeneratedGood design is still the hardest and biggest edgeCreme process: build a /components library, define buttons/cards/inputs, assign stable IDsTools: Mobbin, Figma Community kits, 21st.devBest prompt: “Here's a screenshot → copy this.”6. What Works in Product IdeasMost of Creme's builds are full startup platforms, not micro-toolsAI makes shipping easier, but ideas are getting worse without depthReal advantage = domain expertise + niche problem + AI speed7. Creators x SoftwareCreators can now ship products without capitalJacob prefers retainers over equityAnalogy: Like creator brands—most fail, a few go huge8. Career Strategy: SpecializeFuture = verticalized expertise, not “AI generalists”Specialist lanes: Lovable, Cursor, n8n, automationBe the person for one tool + one market9. BENJAMIN CREME - The Star and the UFO Phenomena - Scottish-born professional artist who paints images of an inner reality perceived through meditation and claims to be a herald of "the reappearance of the Christ" at the end of the twentieth century. Born in Glasgow in 1922, early in his life Creme became attracted to theosophical literature, especially the writings of Alice A. Bailey. In the 1950s he also joined the Aetherius Society, an occult-oriented flying saucer contact group founded by George King, in which he learned a form of meditation called "transmission" meditation. Throughout the 1950s Creme was in direct contact with the Great White Brotherhood, the assembly of beings believed by Theosophists to guide the destiny of humankind. Creme claimed that in 1959 he received a telepathic communication from his own master, a member of the divine hierarchy, who told him that he would have a part to play in the return of Maitreya, the Christ. (In Theosophy, the person who walked the earth as Jesus, and is called the Christ by Christians, is identified as Maitreya, the bodhisattva whom many Buddhists expect to appear in the near future.) A constant and conscious telepathic link was established with this master, by which Creme received precise and up-to-date information about the reappearance of the Christ, which Bailey had predicted to occur toward the end of the twentieth century. - www.share-international.orgBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-x-zone-radio-tv-show--1078348/support.Please note that all XZBN radio and/or television shows are Copyright © REL-MAR McConnell Meda Company, Niagara, Ontario, Canada – www.rel-mar.com. A world champion athlete shouldn't have to fight for the right diagnosis—yet Kelly Palace did, for years. What began as a swimmer's quick fix for itchy, chlorine-dry skin became a descent into topical steroid addiction and withdrawal: spreading rashes, burning, oozing skin, misdiagnoses, and the long, lonely road of recovery. Kelly lays out the unvarnished truth about a “miracle cream” millions use and why the industry's strongest selling points—fast relief and flawless skin—can mask a deeper problem that grows with every tube and refill. We walk through the real mechanism under the surface: the blanching test that validated potency, the escalation from mild to super-potent products, and tachyphylaxis that drives dependency. Kelly explains how withdrawal can look nothing like classic eczema, why infants and facial skin absorb more, and how short, tightly defined courses can be appropriate for acute flares—while chronic use becomes a trap. Her journey to Dr. Marvin Rappaport's work, the co-founding of ITSAN (International Topical Steroid Awareness Network), and the movement to push medicine to recognize topical steroid withdrawal provide a roadmap for patients seeking answers when standard care fails. This is also a practical guide. You'll hear the questions to ask before filling a prescription, the difference between treating symptoms and addressing root causes, and the lifestyle foundations—sleep, hydration, nutrition, stress reduction, gentle barrier care—that help the skin do its job. Kelly makes a compelling case to treat the skin like the longevity organ it is and to choose what you apply as carefully as what you eat. The human side matters too: the isolation, the mental health toll, and the hope that comes with recognizing the pattern and finding support. If you or someone you love uses hydrocortisone, triamcinolone, or other topical steroids, this conversation will change how you think about risk, duration, and informed consent. Today, I am joined by my amazing guests, Katlego Tefu and Siyamthanda Ndube.Listening back to 'Don't Touch My Hair' by Solange & Sampha, it is clear to see that; for a lot of us (black women), the phenomenon of our hair is more than just the style we choose and the appearance of it. It is more of a totem of representation, for us. An extension of our personality and the fabrics of our roots. These are some of the ground foundations of what makes this episode a very urgent one. An episode where I, along with my guests can sit down and trade stories about our respective journeys, finding what works best for our hair and what styles represent us - in our own tastes and experiences. It is in these stories that we discover the importance of nurturing your hair, no matter what the style of choice is. The only solution to ensure the perfect results, is Creme of Nature and I cannot recommend this product ENOUGH, for all of your hair care needs. It is imperative, that we look after our hair and take pride in it & the true start to such an incredulous and life long journey, starts with what 'food' that you feed your hair with. I suggest you feed your hair with the finest that nature has to offer. The true creme of your hair needs, Creme of Nature!Find Creme of Nature:@cremeofnature_sa ⁨@katlego_tefu⁩  @siya_weloveher

Today, we are talking about Ann's Dari-Creme up in Glen Burnie outside of the Marley Station Mall! There's a lot to unpack here, from a start in Coney Island to the change of ownership in 1976, when Howard and Thea Pinsky, along with their partner Joe, purchased the iconic "hot dog stand" based on the number of rolls purchased from a local bread distributor! Sadly, Howard passed away in 2021, but Joe and Howard's family are carrying on the tradition. Today, Joe joins us with Amy, Stacy, MaryLou, and longtime manager Cindy to talk about 75 years of goodness along Ritchie Highway. If there ever was a shining example of not messing with a good thing, Ann's is it. Spoiler, we tried to wrest a few secrets from the team, but failed miserably--so the chili, brand of dogs, and bread will remain a secret! On August 31st, they will kick off their 75th Anniversary all day with giveaways, t-shirts, ice cream, plenty of specials, and a surprise or two. Be sure to stop by and grab a double dog (as I did), or if you dare, a triple dog! What a great group and what a great, true legacy business in Anne Arundel County! Have a listen!
