Some of Dolapo's most notable and critically acclaimed projects include Karen (BET's #1 Movie in 2021), Scheme Queens (Official selection of the 2022 American Black Film Festival), The Sound of Christmas (BET's #1 Christmas film of 2022), I Am John Gabbana (2022), and the highly anticipated Waterboyz (2023). Born to Nigerian immigrants, Dolapo, along with his nine siblings, was taught generosity and the importance of serving others. After earning several academic degrees and with an extensive career in pharmaceuticals, Dolapo felt unfulfilled. This feeling of unfulfillment evolved into a direct pivot from corporate management to artist management. Dolapo has worked alongside Quality Control Music and supported several Grammy-nominated artists. Dolapo's entertainment accolades don't stop there: he is the Co-owner of Atlanta's #1 nightspot, Blu Lagoon Bar and Bistro, and Co- owner of Havana Lounge, another popular Atlanta nightspot. Dolapo's passion for creativity, authentic energy, and ambitious personality make him one of the film industry's most sought-after Executive Producers, and with a calm, yet ambitious demeanor, it's easy to see why Dolapo is on track to becoming one of Hollywood's most successful producers. Our latest podcast guest, Antoine Allen, shares his inspiring story of betting on himself in pursuit of his dreams. As a filmmaker who grew up poor in Jamaica, Queens, Antoine faced numerous challenges and setbacks along the way but never lost sight of his passion for storytelling. In this episode, Antoine talks candidly about the sacrifices he made to pursue his dream of becoming a filmmaker, including being homeless. He also shares how he leveraged his resourcefulness and creativity to break into the industry and build a successful career as an independent filmmaker. From navigating the ups and downs of Hollywood to creating meaningful work that reflects his experiences growing up in Queens, Antoine offers valuable insights into what it takes to succeed in a fiercely competitive industry. His story is one of persistence, resilience, and unwavering belief in oneself.Tune into our latest episode to hear more from Antoine Allen on betting on oneself and overcoming adversity in pursuit of one's passions. Watch Here: https://www.youtube.com/embed/-C4ne-oMXVE ================ BIO Antoine Allen Antoine Allen Films (AAF) was founded by award-winning filmmaker, Antoine Allen, and is an independent production company that produces and distributes its own films. Antoine Allen Films prides itself in creating films that reflect the diversity of the human spirit. Mr. Allen had dreams like any other kid growing up, and it was those same dreams that allowed him to break through every obstacle in his path. Despite growing up poor in Jamaica, Queens, Allen was already rich with potential. Refusing to let this define his future, he moved forward with a passion, drive, and tireless dedication that has now become synonymous with the Antoine Allen brand. Mr. Allen began his career in the music industry, successfully managing independent hip-hop artists for many years. During that time, he had several experiences that opened his eyes to the fact that he had more to offer. It was at this time that the phrase "dream big or don't dream at all" really hit hard. Foregoing the traditional film school route, he began educating himself on all creative, technical, and business aspects of the process and never looked back. Allen transformed himself into a successful writer, director, filmmaker and producer. He sold his first screenplay, No Where Land, an animated feature film in 2008. As an award-winning director, Allen has gone on to be involved in a variety of film and music video projects. In the summer of 2010, Mr. Allen made his directorial debut with Split Decision, a narrative short film exploring love, rejection and motivation, which he also wrote and produced, eventually launching a highly successful social media campaign. The trailer alone received over twenty-one thousand views on YouTube and countless 'Likes' on Facebook, all culminating in the Split Decision world premiere. The opening screening in New York City sold out. This should have come as no surprise since Mr. Allen sold out a premiere to a 3-minute music video that he had previously directed. On a personal level, the film allowed him to draw from his own experiences of beating the odds when life got tough and was an experience that brought Mr. Allen full circle. He has since made three successful feature length films - all of which premiered to sold out audiences - and his latest feature film, LOLA just screened at the 2020 American Black Film Festival. Aside from pursuing his creative projects, Mr. Allen has devoted a great deal of his time inspiring, mentoring and giving back to his community by helping young entrepreneurs and artists achieve the bigger dreams that they have for themselves. The film industry is a highly competitive and challenging field to break into, especially in the United States. Real filmmakers who are successful in this industry possess a combination of skills, talent, and perseverance. They understand that it takes more than just creative vision and technical ability to make a successful film. In this episode, I am joined by Elisee Junior St Preux, a Haitian storyteller born and raised in North Miami Beach, FL, who exploits his art through directing, writing, and acting, to explore some of the key characteristics and strategies that real filmmakers utilize to succeed in the US film industry. Elisee researched assiduously from numerous materials available to him as a self-taught filmmaker, such as books, blogs, podcasts, newspapers, digital articles, and documentaries. Soon after, he founded the film blog "The Movie Butter Playbook," as well as the screenplay label "La MODE Films," for Black writers. Today, his work has premiered at Tribeca, he is a recipient of Indeed's Rising Voices in collaboration with Hillman Grad Productions, a nominee for the 53rd NAACP Image Awards, an HBO Short Film Award Finalist at the American Black Film Festival, and a Netflix Created By Fellow.Elisee shares his experience of being raised in South Florida, the secrets to being successful in Florida, and how he has been so successful in his projects. He also talks about the first thing that he thinks about when working on a film, how to stay in the present as an artist, and what the real black filmmakers in the diaspora are missing. He discusses some of the things that real filmmakers do to be successful. Tune in to learn more about this and other exciting topics! This year, Skyh returns as leading man Amp ‘Addiction' Anthony on season two of Tyler Perry's smash-hit, male exotic dancer drama series “All the Queen's Men” on BET.  The show follows Madam DeVille (Eva Marcille), a fierce businesswoman at the top of her game in the Atlanta nightclub industry who won't let anyone stand in her way as she reigns over a crew of loyal dancers.  Skyh is a scene stealer as Madam's nephew and employee, who evolves in an exciting & electrifying season two storyline that pushes his character's limits to the next level.  “All the Queen's Men” is set to return on BET and BET+ on July 14, 2022.  Additional television credits for Skyh include the highest-rated Tyler Perry-produced BET series, “Sistas,” as well as starring opposite Don Cheadle and Regina Hall in Showtime's critically acclaimed drama series “Black Monday.”  Additionally, Skyh led season one of AMC ALLBLK's legal drama series “Lace” as attorney Othello Charles in 2021. On the film front, Skyh can next be seen leading TV One's feature thriller “Stranger Next Door,” directed by Emmy-award winning director Victoria Rowell.  The film tells the story of a former police detective who is both retired and divorced and lives to a life of seclusion as her father's caretaker when Jesse Holms (Skyh) moves in next door and her seemingly stagnant life is flipped on its head.  “Stranger Next Door” recently made its premiere debut at the American Black Film Festival as part of 12 hand-selected spotlight screenings in June 2022 and is set to premiere on TV One later this year.  It was also recently announced that Skyh will executive produce and star in the romantic drama feature, “A Haitian Wedding.”  The film, which recently wrapped production in Haiti and Miami, centers on the love story of a Haitian-born bride-to-be and her fiancé, the American go-getter Patrick Casey (Skyh).  Skyh continues to hone his talents behind the camera as a producer, and he is currently working on developing of handful of his own projects.Born and raised in Miami, FL, Skyh has always held a strong passion for the arts.  Inspired by Michael Jackson at a young age, Skyh enrolled in dance classes at just five years old, and in just a few years, became fully immersed in the worlds of dancing, singing, and acting.  Professionally trained in tap and ballet, Skyh has danced on tour and in world-famous music videos with legends like Beyoncé as her lead male dancer, Mariah Carey, and Rihanna, to name just a few.  After completing a handful of major tours, Skyh booked the lead role in Michael Jackson's music video for “A Place with No Name” from his second posthumous album, “Xscape,” which cemented his passion for acting and compelled him to pursue the art full-time, hitting pause on dancing professionally and even taking a side job doing valet parking in Hollywood to afford acting classes and rent while he honed this new passion and craft.  After many classes, a few small roles, and multiple auditions, Skyh booked the role of Jacobi on BET's “Sistas,” earning widespread praise and acclaim for his performance by critics, fans, and Perry himself.  Skyh holds a strong passion for advocating for the homeless and impoverished, as he himself has had to battle homelessness at various points throughout his lifetime before finding success in the arts, as well as for nourishing and cultivating the dreams of minority children, and showing them that they can follow their passions, no matter where they come from or what they look like.

This past weekend's Oscars ceremony was one for the history books. There was, of course, the smack seen around the world. But beyond the most salacious headline of the night one fact stood out: this was the Blackest Oscars ceremony the world has ever seen. Two of the night's three hosts – comedian Wanda Sykes and actress Regina Hall – were Black women. All the young people handing the winners their trophies were HBCU students. And for the first time in its history, the show was produced by an all-Black producing team, led by FAMU alum Will Packer. But the Oscars have a troubled history with race. In 1940 Hattie McDaniel became the first Black person to win an Oscar, for her portrayal of Mammy in Gone with the Wind. After a tearful acceptance speech, she returned to her seat at the edge of the auditorium where the ceremony was held, segregated from her white peers. It would be nearly a quarter century before another Black actor won an Oscar, when Sidney Poitier took home the prize for Best Actor in 1964. With last weekend's awards included, a total of 22 Oscars have gone to Black actors during the Academy's 94-year history. But do we really need an organization like the Academy to tell us how great we are? The entertainment industry is full of Black creatives making their own way, producing the stories that they want to tell, on their own terms. This week on Into America, host Trymaine Lee speaks to one of them, filmmaker Stefon Bristol, the man behind See You Yesterday about what it takes to make it in Hollywood while staying true to yourself. For a transcript, please visit msnbc.com/intoamerica. Please follow and share the show on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, all with the handle @intoamericapod.Thoughts?
