Welcome back, you beautiful, brilliant messes!Watch the video version herehttps://youtu.be/vPOa0JZPR9UThis week on the show, we're ditching the doomsday bunkers and embracing the real-life readiness that matters. As neurodivergent, hormonal Gen X women, our lives are a glorious, chaotic testament to the phrase, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.” So, why even try to plan, right? We're diving into the art of low-effort preparedness, where a forgotten snack in your car is a mobile survival kit and a stash of emergency chocolate is a vital piece of crisis management. We'll talk about how readiness isn't about having a color-coded binder; it's about building a little bit of wiggle room into our beautifully chaotic lives.Join us as we redefine what it means to be ready and share our ridiculously small victories.Don't forget to do your one small, ridiculous act of preparedness this week, snap a picture, and tag us!Soul Coaching, by Sonyawww.sonyajanisse.com#SlightlyUnhingedAndFullyUnprepared #asksonya #afreshapproach #sonyajanisse #NeurodivergentAndReadyish #GenXPreparedness #EmergencyChocolate #IfYouWannaMakeGodLaugh #ChaoticGood #SurvivalSock #ADHDLife #StThomasOntario #UnpreparedButReady

“The Gospel Is…” (Romans 1:16–17)In this episode we unpack Paul's thesis for Romans: the gospel is God's power to save because it reveals God's righteousness. We trace how salvation is offered to everyone who believes, why “the righteousness of God” is good news (God's character, God's saving action, and God's gift), and how the just live—now and forever—by faith.Romans 1:16–17; 3:22, 26 • Ephesians 2:5 • 1 Corinthians 1:18 • Romans 13:11 • Philippians 3:9 • Habakkuk 2:4 • Galatians 3:11The gospel is God's powerful means of salvation because it reveals His righteous way of putting sinners right with Himself—received by faith alone. “The righteous (by faith) shall live.”Unashamed of the Gospel (v.16)Paul's confidence despite opposition; the gospel is God's power, not self-help.Goal: full salvation—justification, reconciliation, redemption, transformation—past, present, future.Scope: offered to everyone who believes; to the Jew first and also to the Gentile. Why the Gospel Saves (v.17)It reveals the righteousness of God—the thesis of Romans.Attribute: God is righteous and just; at the cross He is “just and the justifier.”Activity: God keeps covenant, rescues His people, defeats evil.Achievement/Gift: a righteous status from God, granted by grace through faith.Received by FaithHabakkuk 2:4 in context: trust God amid injustice.Paul's application: the one declared righteous by faith truly lives.Structure of Romans: chs. 1–4 (faith → righteousness); chs. 5–8 (righteousness → life). The gospel doesn't merely offer power; it is God's power.Salvation is comprehensive: rescued from wrath and restored to God.God's righteousness is not earned; it's given.Faith is the empty hand that receives Christ—and then walks in new life.Where are you tempted to be “ashamed” of the gospel, and why?Which aspect of God's righteousness (attribute, activity, gift) most encourages you today? How does “the righteous by faith shall live” shape your week practically?

How can plant-based oils help solve some of the food industry's biggest challenges? From reducing greenhouse gas emissions to cutting costs, while maintaining great taste, plant-based oils are emerging as a powerful solution for manufacturers facing mounting pressure to deliver sustainable, affordable, and delicious products. But with concerns around deforestation and responsible sourcing, how do we harness their benefits without causing more harm? In this episode of the Food Matters Live podcast, made in partnership with AAK, we explore how innovative plant-based oil technologies are transforming everything from butter and dairy alternatives to chocolate and hybrid meats. We dive deep into Life Cycle Assessment tools, that help customers reduce their carbon footprint, discover how removing the "mediator" (livestock) can dramatically cut emissions, and tackle the complex conversation around palm oil. Our guests share real-world examples of how these solutions are helping manufacturers balance competing demands: delivering better taste, better health, better sustainability, and better costs all at once. AAK are a lead partner for the Food Matters Live events in Rotterdam and Ascot. AAK AAK are experts in plant-based oils and fats, the value-adding ingredients in many products people love to consume. They make these products better tasting, healthier, and more sustainable. Chocolate may fill grocery store shelves around the world, but the raw product that powers chocolate is far more selective. The majority of chocolate farms are found in West Africa and South America – just 20 degrees north or south of the equator. Each farm produces chocolate of a different flavor. Some cocoa tastes fruitier; others, more floral. Nutty. Earthy. Spicy. But what drives these different flavor profiles? And can it be recreated in a lab? A team led by scientists at the University of Nottingham in the UK sought to find out and published their results in the journal Nature Microbiology this week. Episode 317 Winter bugs are notoriously hard to vaccinate against. But as cold, flu and covid season is about to descend on us once more, one group researchers are working on an entirely new solution to the misery. A team out of Columbia University has been testing an mRNA-based treatment that could prime our immune systems to fight against any kind of viral infection, perhaps in the form of an asthma-like inhaler. But there is a catch… New life has been breathed into one of the most controversial ideas in science. In 1989, a surprising way to generate nuclear fusion at room temperature gained worldwide attention - but the initial experiment couldn't be replicated. Dead in the water for many years, the idea of ‘cold fusion' is now being revisited - and it could help us create futuristic electronics. Ever wondered what makes chocolate taste so good? As with many things, it turns out we have microbes to thank. Chocolate, like kimchi and cheese, is a fermented food product - and scientists are beginning to discover which microbes give chocolate its many flavours. These findings could help us create more delicious chocolate, or even create new flavours we've never tasted before. Chapters: (00:00) Intro (00:29) Could we end winter illness? As part of a peace deal, Vladimir Putin wants the regions of Donetsk and Luhansk. But that would mean ceding a key line of defence -- and making Ukraine vulnerable to another Russian invasion.
