Honest Repentance: Purification. Our topic this week in our Honest Repentance series isn't one that is talked about much – purification. A few weeks ago we explored the theme of water throughout the Bible. This week, we thought about fire and how it's used by God – and specifically how He uses it to purify us. We looked at "fire" from two different perspectives both which help us along the path of the cross. Don't miss this interesting and challenging message.

Honest Repentance: Repentance. This is a core Sunday in this series because we talked very directly about “Repentance” – Honest Repentance! To get there, we took a look at the account of the prophet Jonah when God commanded him to go to the city of Ninevah, a city of great wickedness, darkness, and evil, and call them to repentance. Jonah wasn't thrilled about it but, without giving too many spoilers, it is amazing and even miraculous what God can do in the hearts of any and all people!

Honest Repentance: Faith. Pastor Glen's message this week is about Abraham and the unthinkable command that God gave to him to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. As Abraham, by faith, trusted God and obeyed what He commanded him, God stopped Abraham from actually killing his son, this act of faith became the foundation from which faith is talked about throughout the rest of Scripture. How does that continue to speak into our lives yet today? As we continue our Lenten series, Honest Repentance, we're looking at how faith is such an integral component to living lives of honest repentance.

Epiphanization at its Best! As we wrapped up the Epiphany season with Transfiguration Sunday, we're reminded in no uncertain terms that it's always about Jesus. The Transfiguration event in Matthew 17 was all about Jesus – pointing to Him, the presence of Moses and Elijah giving clarity about Jesus and who He truly is, the glowing/shining and then the words of affirmation from the Father/the voice from the cloud, it's all about Jesus! 2 Peter 1 appropriately exalts Jesus even further, as Peter speaks of what he personally saw and experienced on that mountaintop. We went to the mountaintop this Sunday to “see” what Peter saw, along with James and John, and add our worship and praise to the shining light of Jesus.

Keep Your Eyes on Jesus. In both the Old Testament reading and the Gospel reading for Sunday, we're given some very harsh realities from the Lord. In Isaiah 5, we hear the disappointment He feels after giving us so much over and over again – and yet… His desire is to love us and forgive us. That's what He wants to do! In Luke 12, Jesus talks about how tough it is to follow Him. It's challenging. Yet… keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. The writer to the Hebrews in chapters 11 and 12 talks about what the Old Testament people of faith endured, and yet they didn't give up – they had faith, even in the hardships of life, they kept their eyes fixed on the Promise, the Messiah, who we know to be Jesus. This is a message full of encouragement to not give up, especially in the face of the trials, challenges, and hardships of life.
