Everyone eats. It's the one thing we all have in common. And yet, nutrition has become one of the most confusing, divisive, and misunderstood sciences in modern life. Low-fat. High-fat. Keto. Vegan. Paleo. Superfoods. For every study, there's a headline that seems to say the opposite. In this episode, we turn to one of the most trusted voices in nutrition research to cut through the noise: Dr. Walter Willett, MD, DrPH. Dr. Willett, Professor of Epidemiology and Nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, has spent more than four decades studying how what we eat affects our health, longevity, and brain function. His work has helped reshape dietary guidelines around the world, replacing fear and fads with clarity and evidence. Together, we unpack what the science really says about diet and the brain: how food choices shape inflammation, cognition, and long-term disease risk, and what practical lessons decades of data can teach us about eating for life and longevity. In this conversation, we discuss: • How nutrition became so confusing (and what the data actually shows) • Why the quality of fat matters more than the amount • How refined carbohydrates fuel inflammation, insulin resistance, and brain fog • The power of fiber and the microbiome for mood and memory • Why plant-based proteins come out ahead for health and sustainability • How global dietary guidelines are changing (and what's still misunderstood) • The intersection of nutrition, planetary health, and human wellbeing Dr. Walter Willett has authored over 2,000 scientific papers and several landmark books, including 'Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy'. While God works in ways that don't always make sense to us, they are always good and there is joy in the mystery. Let us stop trying to find joy through understanding God's purposes in our circumstances, and start finding it through believing God's promises for our circumstances.

John 6:54-55, He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. Every day, we abide in Jesus so we can live with Him. The only way we can abide in Jesus is through His finished work on the cross, where He gave His flesh as a sacrifice for our sins. Without the shedding of blood, there's no forgiveness of sins (Heb. 9:22). Without forgiveness of sins, there's no way we can have access to God or have fellowship with Him. We can't be His fruit bearing disciples if we are not cleansed, washed by His blood. We have His life in us, and that is only possible if our sins have been removed, and we have been made holy, one with Him at the cross. The apostle Paul wrote in Titus 3:5, “He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.” So, there's not a day that we don't eat His flesh and drink His blood. Living to love with Jesus each day is based on the diet of true food and drink revealed in the gospel. We eat His flesh and drink His blood because we have eternal life. We are encouraged by these two verses to eat and drink the true food and drink provided through His substitutionary death. He died for us so He might bring us to God, present us holy, blameless, and beyond reproach. Then the Father sends His Son from heaven to be the bread of life and our true drink. Out of the fellowship and union we have with Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit, we can rise to our calling to glorify God each day and on the last day. The way we glorify God is through Jesus Christ, as we abide in Him and He in us. Then the Vine can produce the fruit of faith and love in the branches. By this is the Father glorified as we bear or display much fruit. Every circumstance and relationship is God orchestrated so He might be glorified in us as we trust and love with Jesus. Out of Jesus' life abiding in us, we trust God and love others. The sustenance for that kind of living is the true food and drink, of which we continually partake every day until we die. Let's eat, drink, and be merry in Christ! I invite you to become a partner in our ministry. Would you pray about becoming a regular supporter of Elijah Ministries and the Live to Love with Jesus ministry? I hope you will receive the joy and benefit of "giving it forward," so others may receive encouragement to turn their hearts to God and to live to love with Jesus. With the passing of Malcolm Jamal Warner, my crew and I reflected on the following question. "Does God consider Malcolm Jamal Warner to be a fool?" In the book of Luke, chapter 12:16, Jesus shares a profound story about a rich man whose fertile farm yielded an abundance of fine crops. As the story unfolds, Jesus reveals the farmer's true nature, describing him as a fool. On this podcast, we delve deeper into the story, personalizing it and asking ourselves a poignant question. On our last day on earth, will the Lord consider us to be fools who were too consumed by earthly pleasures, neglecting to nurture a rich, spiritual relationship with the Lord Jesus the Christ? Listen and ask yourself the same question.
