Modern men are deeply affected by the chaos but often forget it's not new—chaos has existed throughout history. God Thrives in Uncertainty The hosts reflect on how God historically brings order out of chaos (e.g., Genesis, Jesus calming the storm). Instead of fearing uncertainty, Christian men should lean into it as a time for spiritual growth. Faith Over Comfort Western men often idolize control, comfort, and certainty. The episode contrasts "walking by faith" vs. "walking by sight" using verses like 2 Corinthians 5:7 and Hebrews 6. Spiritual Formation Amid Hardship The hosts encourage men to avoid numbing out with distractions or escapism. Real manhood means leading your home, your team, and yourself by trusting God for “manna for today.” Hope as the Anchor Even in collective or personal chaos, biblical men can choose to grow. The episode ends in prayer, asking for peace, courage, and spiritual focus to thrive through Jesus.

We could say, then, that time is a necessary precondition for change, and change is a sufficient condition to establish the passage of time. In other words, whenever there's a change of any kind, we know that time has passed. We see this as we go through life and as we age. And we cannot recover the minutes that have passed by.

If it isn't the answer to your wildest dreams, if you aren't ready at this very moment to sell everything and buy this field, then you have placed your hopes somewhere else. Nearly everyone has. When a precious hope is dashed, it can really break your heart. It may usher in fear and anxiety. Instead, they describe gossip in action and intimately tie it to the character of the people participating in this tantalizing sin. The Bible often uses the word gossip to describe a kind of person more than just a communication pattern. My way of summarizing the Bible's teaching on this topic is to say that the sin of gossip is bearing bad news behind someone's back out of an evil heart. This functional definition considers the action itself, the content of the corrupt communication, the situation in which it occurs, and perhaps most importantly, the motivations of the people involved.

Rate our podcast! Questions or comments: info@rediscoveringbiblicalmanhood.com Ask, seek, knock. Notice the three different senses being considered here. Asking is verbal; Christians must use their mouths and petition God for their needs and desires. And believers are to seek with their minds—this is more than asking; it is a setting of priorities and a focusing of the heart. To knock involves physical movement, one in which the Christian takes action. Although asking and seeking is essential, they would be incomplete without knocking. The apostle John said Christians ought not to love in word alone but with actions also (1 John 3:18). In the same way, it's good to pray and seek God, but if one does not also act in ways that are pleasing to God, all is for naught. It's no accident that Jesus said believers should love God with all their heart, soul, strength, and mind (Luke 10:27). The commands are followed by promises: “Everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matthew 7:8). God delights in the prayer of faith, and He promises to give us what we need.

This week, Jay and Chicka discuss the only commandment not repeated in the New Testament is the one about Sabbath-keeping. The key to understanding how Jesus is our Sabbath rest is the Hebrew word sabat, which means "to rest or stop or cease from work." The origin of the Sabbath goes back to Creation. After creating the heavens and the earth in six days, God "rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made" (Genesis 2:2). This doesn't mean that God was tired and needed a rest. We know that God is omnipotent, literally "all-powerful." He has all the power in the universe, He never tires, and His most arduous energy expenditure does not diminish His power. So, what does it mean that God rested on the seventh day? Simply that He stopped what He was doing. He ceased His labors. This is important in understanding the establishment of the Sabbath day and the role of Christ as our Sabbath rest. Let us build our faith, hope, profession, obedience, and experience on Him as our foundation. We must not pretend to hold the foundation unless we are building thereon; for a foundation is of no use but to build upon. Having begun at the proper foundation, let us be careful that our structure consists of the best materials and avoid, as much as possible, all impure and pe|rishable mixtures. And if we are building on this foundation, we shall have all his glorious perfections engaged for us; his wisdom to direct us, his righ|teousness to justify us, his power to defend us, and his grace to bestow on us a full reward—when he "shall be revealed from heaven in flaming fire." Then, our building, though imperfect, will abide the trial, all our errors and infirmities will be purged away, and our virtuous habits will be carried to perfection.
