The US Presidential election has brought up many points of contention between voters of all parties in recent weeks, and my household has been no exception. Our family has never traditionally spoken at lengths on politics as, generally, it hasn’t been a topic that’s been raised all too often. Though, as my children are becoming young adults and forming their own opinions on the issues that affect their country, disagreements are bound to happen. Most recently, a heated debate came up in my household between my children which challenged me both on a personal level and as a parent. Hearing what they said to each other was painful, and whilst I’m so grateful that they have such passionate and strong points of view, it was only another reminder that our politics do not have to define us. I sincerely hope that this new administration brings a new era for peace, hope, and an end to the division that has tainted our nation for far too long. In today’s episode, it’s just me! Something that I’ve been wanting to bring up on the podcast is the theory of ‘The Bucket Philosophy.’ The analogy refers to the idea that ‘filling someone else's bucket’ will affect positive change in individuals who act as ‘bucket fillers.’ On the show, I will be sharing what it means to be a ‘bucket filler’ and a ‘bucket dipper’, dive into some of the teachings mentioned in the best-selling book, ‘How Full Is Your Bucket?’, as well as give you guys a sneak peek on some of the guests I have lined up for the next few episodes of ‘Six Pack.’ Some of these include the incredibly talented surgeon, Dr. Jaime Seeman, as well as the renowned leader and author, Steve Shallenberger! In commemoration of National Suicide Prevention Month, I wanted to take this episode as an opportunity to discuss mental health openly, and create a conversation between myself and my listeners. Mental illness affects such a large portion of our population and there is still a rampant stigma present on a global scale surrounding this topic. Discussions around mental health have definitely improved and become closer to the norm than they were in earlier years, but we still have a ways to go when it comes to responding to the subject as a whole. Joining me today is my Daughter, Brianne Inselman. She has been brave enough to share her time with me and open up about how her own struggles with mental illness affected her growing up. We talk about her journey with Depression and Anxiety, how therapy helped improve her state of mind, as well as some advice for listeners with loved ones that live with a mental illness. We hope this episode brings you solace if you are someone who has dealt with mental health concerns first hand and always remember, there is no shame in asking for help when you need it. What are you willing to fight for?We all have that one goal that drives us in life, the one image that pulls us through the hard days and reminds us time and time again of what it’s all for. But when was the last time you were really honest with yourself about what was important to you? On a superficial level, we all know the easy answer to that question, but what about the ones that make us sit in the discomfort? It’s what we learn there that defines how we will approach life moving forward. Once we know what our true passion is, the willingness to succeed and show up will organically follow us wherever we go. In today’s episode, I’m going to be discussing what willingness means to me and how that word has impacted me throughout my life. Carrying on from last week’s episode, my husband Brian and I have recently undergone a juice cleanse as part of our aforementioned ‘30 Day Challenge’! Today, I’m going to talk about my experience using ‘Juice From The Raw’ products and share why this detox has been so rewarding for my own physical wellbeing. It’s been said by many advocates within the wellness community that juicing provides a number of positive potential health benefits. Some of these include a boost in immunity, reduction of inflammation in joints and muscles, absorption of nutrients, and a flush out of toxins within the body. However, it’s important to remember that this may not be the case for everyone and each individual will respond differently to the cleanse, so make sure you’re listening to what you need if you do choose to undertake your own! If you’re interested to hear more about how my cleanse went and learn some useful advice on juicing in general, then tune in to Episode 21 of Six Pack!In This Episode You Will Learn:Why I chose to do a juice cleanse for my ‘30 Day Challenge’ (1:13)How others in my workshop negatively reacted to juicing (2:28)How Brian and I responded to the detox (3:02)Why juicing brought structure to my challenge (4:27)My experience using juices from ‘Juice From The Raw’ (5:26)The benefits of coconut-infused products (6:39)Why this cleanse gave my body a chance to recuperate (7:27)Why sticking to a regime helps us function during the detox period (8:53)How the juices were delivered to me & The process of thawing them out (10:08)The recommended time to start a cleanse & Why I started mine on a weekend (11:42)My advice for those preparing to do a juice cleanse (13:08)How this cleanse improved my joint health and reduced inflammation in my body (14:02)Let’s Connect!InstagramWebsiteFacebookResources:Website: ‘Juice From The Raw’ See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

In today’s episode, I thought I’d share a few of the books that I’ve read and revisited over the past few months! One of my absolute favourite genres is self help and personal development and there are a copious amount of titles within that area that have had a tremendous influence over the path I’ve gone down both professionally and personally. An author whose catalogue of books I dive into today is Jon Gordan. My family has recently gone through a huge transition. Two of my kids have taken a leap and made the incredibly brave decision to move out and start their own lives outside of our home. It’s been a whirlwind of emotions, not only from myself and my husband but from our other children as well. There has been such a huge focus on my younger kids during all of this and it’s something I wasn’t entirely prepared for. I’ve had to learn how to adjust to their new routines and living situations, while giving them space to process how they’re feeling during a particularly overwhelming time. It’s new territory for all of us, and it’s so understandable that they would need to take the time to comprehend what’s going on in a healthy way. In this episode, I discuss how our family dynamics have shifted and the effect it’s had on my younger children, the lessons I’ve taught my kids in relation to their own independence, and how all of this has impacted us in the wake of the pandemic. This year has been filled with so many uncertainties and for many of us, we’ve neglected to take the time to focus on the things that have brought us joy. Our minds have been so consumed with the events that have taken place over the past six months and our own happiness has taken a backseat to so many of those things. Remembering to practice self-care is such a vital step in looking after our mental wellbeing and it’s unrealistic to believe we can keep carrying on with all of this stress weighing us down. In today’s episode, I talk about the importance of celebrating the moments in life that bring us joy, why we should apply meaning to those things, and share a story of how my husband and I were encouraged to celebrate our twenty-third wedding anniversary and take some time for ourselves. I also give some advice on tools and techniques that I use which remind me to stay grateful and optimistic during tough times and the genuine benefits that they can have. Today I’m joined by my sister Shelby Herrington, a certified Strengths Coach who specializes in executive leadership and team coaching! Shelby was kind enough to give some insight into her career path journey and share her personal viewpoints on wellness in both life and business. Our lives are moving at a strange pace at the moment, which means self-care has never been more important. In this episode, we discuss the effect quarantine has had on our family units, childhood ideologies we’ve had to challenge in our adult lives, and ‘Boxes for Boundaries’ theory, a three-step approach created by Shelby. She also delves into her transition going from the corporate world into the Life Coaching field and how that process came to be. We also talk about the unique perspective we have as parents living through Covid-19 on opposite ends of the world. Shelby is based in the UK and talks about the outlook people over there have had towards the global pandemic in comparison to the US. We also touch on creative ways we’ve been keeping our kids engaged during lockdown and how we foster an open learning environment at home. It’s vital that we give ourselves room to grow right now, particularly as parents and caretakers. Listening to ourselves and creating a balance is essential for a healthy mind, especially for our little ones who are processing this all at once. Though don’t feel selfish in prioritizing yourself and your own wellbeing, we’ve got to put our oxygen masks on before we can help those around us!
