In this week's episode of the Red Card, Sasha dives into the red card for this week, and it has a lot to do with the “change order” world. There's a physical therapy practice that has a shower situation that's turned out to be a pretty sticky one. There's a bathroom with a full shower for the customers to use after their session. They're working with a contractor. It turns out that their designers and architects forgot shelves in the shower. The problem is that the tile job is already completed with no shelves or anything to be used to set the shampoo, soap etc… on. In this week's episode of the red card segment, Sasha dives into it with the delivery of furniture for a practice that's being built. We work with a practice that's reaching the end of the project and is almost ready for the furniture. In most cases, there will be a schedule that outlines the project and the delivery of different phases. It turns out that the furniture was delivered to the site but was signed by a random person. The doctors placed the order for the furniture, not the contractor, because they didn't want to miss out on the furniture, but the delivery wasn't communicated with the contractors. In this case, the painter signed for the furniture, and it wasn't revisited until the very end of the project when a big hole was noticed on the side of the couch. The sticky situation is that the contractor is being held responsible for one of his crews signing for the delivery of the furniture, have listened to what Sasha recommends to avoid a future sticky situation like this one.
In this week's episode, Sasha gets another question from a caller out in California that's interested in building his first practice. He's hired his contractor and has his cabinetry folks and a few other teams but is now faced with little clarity regarding who is responsible for the installation. The twist was that he purchased his own materials…chandeliers, etc., and is having different contractors handle the installation. Check this episode out; Sasha breaks down the sticky situation when there is more than one contractor that can handle the same job/area (two different flooring guys, three cabinetry teams) to avoid miscommunication between contractors.
