News: Someone tried to track their kid with apples new AirTags. AirTags are used to track/locate lost or stolen items such as keys, wallets, etc. This person decided to see if they can use it as a long distance locator device. Luckily, this shouldn't present any true privacy concerns because apple implemented a feature that cuts down on unwanted tracking. That would be awesome because I know ALOT of gamers who's community lives within the discord app. Apparently, there's a website that calculates how lazy, er, I mean hard you have to binge to finish a show in time. Whatever that means. I think binging content is useless and life draining but to actually calculate how hard you have to binge to finish it is even more loser-esque, but thats just me. Episode #36 | Simulation Theory: Behind The Mandela Effect

Play Episode Listen Later May 5, 2021 56:39

In this podcast, we go tinfoil hat. We take it to the science fiction level and explore the possibility(again) that we may be living in a simulation. This time we use the concept of procedural generation to give credence simulation theory. Notes* At first I use to laugh when people brought simulation theory up. I would scoff and say “you think we live in a computer?” Then I would humor them and ask “but what would be the point of this simulation?” I studied engineering. And along with engineering I studied heavy mathematics which is the language of the universe. And the more I thought about it, the more simulation theory seemed to make sense. Think about it, it's almost as if this whole universe is made up of code. There's constants, a formula gravity and golden ratios, etc. I saw a movie called “Mandela effect” the other night and, yes...this is another episode on the Mandela effect and simulation theory but we have more cool terms to play with, Procedural generation, top-down cosmology and the observer effect. Procedural generation is creation of data by computers. When content is created quasi-randomly by a computer rather than manually programmed by a human. Think, mmorpgs or final fantasy where monsters and loot drops are generated randomly. How does this play into simulation theory. Well, I don't really know. This is a tin foil hat episode and we're having some fun here. So, let's try to connect some dots. That new age, law of attraction stuff we always talk about? Yeah, what if we play a part in the world as we experience it. In other words, what if our thoughts create our world. This would be similar to procedural generation in gaming except we set an intention and that intention manifests or is generated where it wasn't before. Or what if we don't create intentionally? That is we “create by default” as Esther and Abraham Hicks put it. Where we just experience things by random? Say for instance we stand outside a building, maybe it's our gym. We “know” what's in the gym: exercise equipment, personal trainers, etc. But is it really? When we're on the outside of the building, are those things really in there if we don't observe them? In other words, if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound, does the forest even exist when we aren't observing it? Now why would our world be set up like this? Well, if we are in a simulation, that would probably mean we exist inside some super computer. But that super computer would require immense energy to run. Procedural generation would probably ensure that the system isn't wasting resources on data that isn't in use at the moment, that's is until we observe anything. Now where does the Mandela effect come in? In the movie, Mandela effect, the story insinuated that these “false memories” were glitches in the system. Or patches by the “programmer(s)” of this simulation we live in. But then it started to point to the possibility of multiple realities colliding. That is, curious George might not have a tail in this reality but he might have his tail in another reality. Or maybe the monopoly man has his monocle in another a reality but not this one. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/anthonyboyd/message

Episode #23 | Paradigm Shifts: The Importance Of Changing Our Thinking

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 10, 2020 47:01

The other day I came across a post from a young lady educating her timeline on botany. She showed us a plant with a withered leaf. This leafs dilapidated state is due to redistribution of nutrients to a new leaf that is in the early stages of growth. This made me think of paradigm shifts. Pulling nutrients from a full grown, worn out leaf, the plant prioritizes the younger leaf for new growth. In other words, one part of the plant has to die in order for another part for it to grow. In that moment I had an epiphany. One part of us has to die in order for another part to grow. Paradigm shifts are necessary in order for us to experience growth in all aspects of our lives. Many of us hold onto old ways of doing things. Without considering a shift in paradigm, we end up stagnating as a whole. Albert Einstein once said that the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting a different result. This is how we humans operate. We operate out of a force of habit that becomes stagnation and void of any growth. Taking a birds eye view of our lives helps us see where we are withered. We need to realize that this is the prime opportunity to make a paradigm shift for growth. Redistribution of the nutrients of our attention allows for growth in all areas of our lives. In this podcast, I'm going to talk extensively about paradigm shifts and why they are important. A paradigm is a “pattern.” It is a framework that may be used for many different applications. Paradigms exist in many different contexts but the context we are going to be speaking about here is the context of life, of personal development and how it relates to our growth in many facets of life. A paradigm shift is a movement away from the old models. It's a movement away from the old frameworks. These frameworks might consist of the traditional way of doing things because they are no longer applicable to the current culture and society as a whole. Paradigm shifts are the ridding of the old and moving to a framework that may not necessarily be “new,” per se but practical for a specific context. Ryan Little - sunkissed. In this episode we explore Luke 11:33-36 & The Dhammapada to highlight the effect that focus has on our spiritual, mental, emotional and physical health.  This podcast mainly deals with attention. Our attention creates our reality by way of perpetuation of the things we focus on.  We live in a world where content is the main focus of our attention. I address the benefits of giving attention to wholesome content.  When we value our attention we improve the health of our being. The "lamp" of our body can be interpreted as the five senses which is the same as the content we give our attention to. In other words, our attention mirrors the content therefore showing up within our beings.  The attention we give to whatever we are focusing on colors the perception of our past, present and future. This is important to understand because our past experiences can be looked at in a healing light or a further damaging, traumatic perspective. Therapists know the value of attention and they use it to reshape and recolor the narrative of the dialogue or the "lamp" within. We also explore what attraction is within the context of dating. Many of us betray ourselves by not using our attention to attract the the success and people that we want. We use our attention unknowingly to draw experiences that we don't want to live. In this segment, we define attraction and apply it to the context of not only dating but for personal success as well. Pop culture references such as The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror were explored in this podcast as well. “What is the uncanny? For Freud, the uncanny locates the strangeness in the ordinary and can also be repressed material from childhood. The uncanny, as psychoanalytic theorist Jacques Lacan states is "in the field where we do not know how to distinguish bad and good, pleasure from displeasure", resulting in an irreducible anxiety that gestures to the Real.” The uncanny is that part of us that sees something that triggers the repressed material from our subconscious causing it to jump to the surface at a moments notice. The Uncanny is a strange place. It presents itself to us in many different contexts. But contrary to what many believe about the uncanny, we don't have to fear it. The uncanny can be used to stimulate many of our creative pursuits.
