The inquest into the death of 14-year-old Noah Donohoe has now heard its 19th week of evidence. The inquest has now heard from mental health experts - one said it ‘feels like there is so much we don't know about this case'. But the experts do agree that Noah is “unlikely to have died by suicide”. They also agreed that Jordan Peterson's book ‘12 Rules For Life' would have had an “influence” on Noah. The teenager's body was found in a storm drain in June 2020 after being missing for six days. Liam Tunney is covering the inquest for the Belfast Telegraph, he spoke to Olivia Peden. Hosted on Acast. Send us Fan MailA road trip is a great metaphor for life. In this episode I share 6 ideas or rules for life that come from the road. I share a few road trips stories and then weave them into how that can relate to our life in general. Rules like, detours are part of life and make sure to stop and refuel. In addition a few deeper metaphors, like knowing your destination and the people in the car matter. As you think about and plan your next road trip, you may also think how this adventure can relate to the metaphor of life. We are joined for the first time (hopefully not the last) by Professor Jonathan Sackier - Surgeon, Innovator, Aviator, Health Commentator, Author & cohost of the highly entertaining 'Join the Docs' podcast. This fascinating conversation is as much about life as it is health. We get to know Jonathan's background, medical career, longevity outlook & how, after an incredibly challenging life experience he was encouraged to create his own, very personal 'Rules for Life'. We're sure you'll enjoy listening to this hour with him as much as we enjoyed meeting him ourselves.
In this episode of ScaleUp Radio, Kevin Brent is joined by entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist Jeremy Middleton. Jeremy is best known as one of the early backers of HomeServe, a business that grew from a struggling plumbing service into a FTSE-100 company before its eventual acquisition. Today he leads Middleton Enterprises, investing in profitable founder-led businesses and helping them scale from around £500k profit to £5m and beyond. This episode explores the real lessons behind scaling successfully: pivoting business models, building predictable revenue, hiring the right people and making smart funding decisions. As always, our discussion breaks down into three parts. First, we explore Jeremy's journey with HomeServe and the lessons from building and scaling the business. Second, we dig into the real challenges founders face when scaling including hiring the right people, building predictable revenue and why one of the most important early hires is a strong Finance Director. And third, we finish with some quickfire questions to wrap things up. One standout message from the discussion is this: a small share of a big business is far better than a big share of a small one. On Today's Show: Prager shares his insights on the importance of wisdom over knowledge, and how it's lacking in today's society. He reflects on his own experiences at Columbia University, where he felt like he was being taught nonsense, and how it led him to question the value of knowledge without wisdom. He also discusses the dangers of the left's emphasis on feelings over behavior, and how it's leading to a society that values being offended over being good. What do you do in the moments - or seasons - when your coaching business feels too hard?In this episode, Ruth Saville, Alex Whitton, and Robbie Swale explore the emotional reality behind building a coaching business: the doubt, comparison, financial pressure, cancellations, unpredictability… and the unexpected beauty that sits alongside all of it.This episode began with a simple observation: every coach goes through periods when the business feels heavy. From there, the three of us look at what helps, what doesn't, and what it means to keep going in a work we care deeply about.Together we talk about:The many moments that make coaching feel hard - and why they surprise us every timeComparison, LinkedIn spirals, and the relief of remembering other coaches struggle tooCancellations, no-shows, reschedules - and how to respond without collapsing insideThe very personal nature of coaching, and how easily confidence gets entangled with identityWhy ‘you have everything you need' is easier to say to clients than to ourselvesHow to navigate hard seasons with more steadiness, self-respect and perspectiveWhat we each reach for when we hit the ‘break glass' momentWhy the challenging parts of the journey are often where the growth isThis is an episode for coaches at every stage - whether you're right in the middle of a difficult moment now, or you want to feel more resourced the next time you hit a wobble. As always, we hope it helps you feel less alone and more grounded in your own path as a coach.Oh, and if you like this, there's a Part II coming in the new year. On this month's Q and A episode of The Brad Jensen Show, Craig and I sat down and answered a stacked lineup of questions you all sent in. We kicked things off by diving into GLP medications and the big conversation around sustainability. We talked about who they actually make sense for, the mindset traps people fall into, and what long term success looks like beyond just the scale. From there, we broke down my three rules for life and how those simple principles can anchor you when everything else feels chaotic. We also got into the most overrated exercises in the gym and why the flashy stuff you see on social media rarely moves the needle like people think. Another big part of the discussion was the overlap between fitness and relationships How your habits affect your partner, how communication matters more than macros, and how to stay aligned when you and your significant other might be in different "seasons." We wrapped with practical strategies for balancing a busy life Running businesses, being parents, staying consistent, and not losing your identity in the chaos. And of course, there were a handful of other questions we hit that we left out on purpose You will have to tune in to hear the rest. She's an Olympic athlete, a brilliant life coach, and a busy mum of three - it's the awesome Michelle Griffith-Robinson! We hear all about how she became a medal-winning triple jumper, choice versus sacrifice, and whether it's true that all the athletes are having it off behind the scenes. We talk about Michelle's life now and she shares her top tip if you're planning a home renovation. She gives us some inspirational, motivational advice for living life to the full. Plus, we discuss her strict rules for screentime and school reports. There's some serious chat as Michelle tells us about her work for Women's Aid. She explains the one thing you should never say to someone in an abusive relationship, and what to say instead. We round off, of course, with some Scummy Mummy Confessions, and a cheeky bit of chat about Mel B's wedding.Follow Michelle on Instagram @michellegriffithrobinson for news of all her doings. What are you daily life rules? We all have them! If you don't think you have any, listen to this then ask those closest to you!
This week we end our series in the Gospel of Matthew by looking at how God works in unseen ways in us and the world by making peace in Christ.
This week we look at Jesus rebuking the Pharisees ministry strategy, and submit to us that mercy is our means of reaching the lost.
We consider this week what Jesus means by Him inviting us to find rest under His yoke.
This week we discuss the cost of following Jesus and why it is worth spending.
This week we looked at Jesus' call to the missions field. His heart for the lost animates His mission, and He desires disciples, not fans.
“Don't flinch,” Theodore Roosevelt wrote, “don't foul, hit the line hard.”
Michael Knowles sits down with Eduard Habsburg-Lothringen, a member of the historic Habsburg family and a diplomat, to discuss the lost art of "Building A Wholesome Family in a Broken World." From faith and tradition to family values and leadership, this conversation dives deep into principles that have stood the test of time. Discover how the wisdom of the past can guide us in navigating today's challenges and shaping a better future. Don't miss this thought-provoking discussion!
