The greatest way to understand and know the Lord Jesus is to study His prayer life. In John 17:15-16, Christ is praying for those who are in the strength of life who get discouraged about a matter, and think, "I want out of here. I know I will go to heaven and be with the Lord. I would just like to go on." Our Lord Jesus would not pray for that because we need laborers for the Lord's work. He is praying for God the Father to keep us from the evil so that we can minister to others around us.

SEASON 10 The Learning Leader Daily Leadership Tips and Discussions Thank you for listening. I'm Paul Grau Jr., the host of this show, and I'm excited about Season 10. This season will focus on “The Learning Leader” and/or as we refer to it here at The CLC Team, “The Expanding Leader. Every episode will primarily focus on the lifelong journey of expanding your knowledge of leadership, and I will try to give you a daily takeaway to put what you learn into action. My goal is that you learn something that you can take immediate action on, and see how powerful expanding your leadership can be.   Influencing Others begins with you! How are you influencing others by the way you carry yourself and by your character? What expectations do you have for yourself?... for your family members?... for people your work with and around? Today's episode mentioned the book The Art of Influence: Persuading Others Begins With You by Chris Widener. I highly recommend this book for you and your team to go through together and to talk about every paragraph because there are leadership lessons on every page! The Art of Influence: Persuading Others Begins With You:   https://amzn.to/3VCfmNF   Here are links to some books I've mentioned in various episodes. If it's listed, I highly recommend it! Well, it's because every leader is unique and has their own style and way of leading their team. By coming together and forming a bond in your organizations leadership team, you can begin norming better than ever before. I use the DISC assessment with every client and team I work with and have found it to be a real game-changer for the entire team. This is certainly no different when you have a group of leaders together. In order for them to work together in unison, they have to begin by knowing each other very well. That's where the DISC comes in, so I will mix the DISC behavioral styles in throughout this series. I am a DISC Certified Trainer and Consultant and have worked with behavioral styles for over 20 years. I am certified through the John Maxwell Leadership Team and have worked with hundreds of teams. If you are interested in having me work with your team leaders or if you want to purchase a DISC assessments for yourself and your team, please contact me via email at Paul@CLCTeam.com If you want to dive in deeper, here are some great books to read and study about the behavioral styles: “Surrounded by Idiots” by Thomas Erikson https://amzn.to/4gphp0D “Full Spectrum Success: Living and Leading in True Color” by Jacob Adamo https://amzn.to/3zglV0A “The Four Tendencies” by Gretchen Rubin https://amzn.to/4dVCMVB “Wired That Way” by Marita Littauer. https://amzn.to/4dZHXUj “Personality PLUS” by Florence Littauer. https://amzn.to/4d1jQmT   Please listen daily (Mon – Friday) as Paul focuses on not only giving tips about how to be a great leader, but also a leader who is respected, a leader who people want to follow, a leader who can confidently navigate their way through both personal and professional challenges, a leader who is not afraid to share their faith while living it out, a leader who knows his/her purpose and lives to fulfill that purpose every day, and a leader who has no regrets! According to industry leaders such as Forbes, LinkedIn, and the World Economic Forum, the ability to influence and persuade others is among the top three essential soft skills in today's business world. However, it's crucial that persuasion is conducted in an ethical manner, ensuring that a favorable outcome is likely for all parties involved. Known as the “godfather of influence,” Dr. Robert Cialdini has spent over 40 years conducting scientific research on how to ethically persuade others. He's the author of several New York Times bestsellers, including “Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion,” which has sold over 8 million copies, and “Pre-Suasion: A Revolutionary Way to Influence and Persuade.” In addition to his groundbreaking research, Dr. Cialdini has built his reputation by going undercover at used car dealerships, fundraising organizations, and telemarketing firms to observe persuasion in the wild. Numerous leading enterprises have sought his expertise, including Microsoft, Google, and Berkshire Hathaway. Through the Cialdini Institute, the world's most trusted educational institute in ethical persuasion, he has combined his knowledge into seven principles of persuasion, offering a systematic approach that anyone can use to get a “yes” more often. In Episode 212 of The Mindset Game® podcast, Dr. Cialdini discusses the following:  Why ethical influence is more effective than non-ethical influence, as well as surprising results from Dr. Cialdini's research demonstrating the effects that an ethical vs. unethical culture can have on an organization's employees and bottom line Why it's crucial for leaders to develop a mindset aimed at developing a culture of ethical persuasion within their organizations A detailed description of the 7 principles of influence: reciprocation; likability; authority; social proof; commitment and consistency; scarcity; and unity To learn more about Dr. Cialdini and his programs through the Cialdini Institute, visit https://cialdini.com.  To learn more about The Mindset Game podcast, visit www.TheMindsetGame.com. The inner workings of social influence and persuasion.Want to change someone's mind? First, explains Robert Cialdini, you have to change their framing. For Cialdini, the Regent's Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Marketing at Arizona State University, persuasion begins before we even deliver our pitch or presentation. Through what he calls “Pre-suasion,” communicators can prime audiences to receive messages in a specific way, simply by drawing their attention in specific directions. “It involves focusing people on—putting them in mind of—those motivators before they encounter [them] in the communicator's message,” Cialdini says, “bringing people's focus of attention onto something that is nested in the message…before that message is delivered, so they have been readied for the concept.”In this episode, Matt Abrahams and Cialdini talk about the motivating power of FOMO, getting better advice from others, and how your next wine purchase could be influenced by what music is playing in the shop.Episode Reference Links:Robert CialdiniRobert's books: Influence / Pre-SuasionEp.11 The Science of Influence: How to Persuade Others And Hold Their AttentionEp.142 Power and Persuasion: Live Insights from Stanford Experts Original Episode: Ep.76 Change My Mind: Using “Pre-suasion” to Influence Others Connect:Email Questions & Feedback >>> hello@fastersmarter.ioEpisode Transcripts >>> Think Fast Talk Smart WebsiteNewsletter Signup + English Language Learning >>> FasterSmarter.ioThink Fast Talk Smart >>> LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTubeMatt Abrahams >>> LinkedInChapters:(00:00:00) IntroductionMatt Abrahams introduces Robert Cialdini, the Regents Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Marketing at Arizona State University(00:01:56) Persuasion and Pre-suasionDistinguishing persuasion and pre-suasion, with focus on attention and motivation.(00:05:17) Priming and Framing in Pre-suasionThe power of pre-suasion and its cognitive effects on decision-making.(00:07:58) Understanding ScarcityHow scarcity influences behavior and decision-making through fear of loss.(00:10:48) The Unity PrincipleThe unity principle and its role in building connection in persuasive efforts.(00:14:04) Social Proof and InfluenceResearch on social proof  and how others' actions influence individual choices.(00:19:24) The Role of Language in PersuasionThe impact of subtle language shifts on collaboration and critique.(00:22:23) The Final Three QuestionsRobert shares communication advice, a communicator he admires, and his recipe for successful communication.(00:26:49) Conclusion (00:00) - Introduction (02:40) - Persuasion and Pre-suasion (06:01) - Priming and Framing in Pre-suasion (08:42) - Understanding Scarcity (11:32) - The Unity Principle (14:48) - Social Proof and Influence (20:08) - The Role of Language in Persuasion (23:07) - The Final Three Questions (27:33) - Conclusion

So they led him by the hand into Damascus. For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything.”Acts 9:8-9…………….The obstacles to influencing others.………..“In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!” “Yes, Lord,” he answered. The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.”Acts 9:10-12…………….“Lord,” Ananias answered; “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem. And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.”Acts 9:13-14…………..“But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go!”  This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”Acts 9:15-16…………..2. The characteristics the Holy Spirit uses to influence others.…………..“He (Ananias) stood beside me and said, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight!' You will be his witness to all men of what you have seen and heard.”Acts 22:13-15…………..“Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, and after taking some food, he regained his strength. Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus.”Acts 9:18-19……..3. Allison Shapira, MPA, CSP, is a former opera singer turned entrepreneur, keynote speaker, and international expert in leadership communication. She is the Founder/CEO of Global Public Speaking LLC, a certified woman-owned small business that teaches speaking skills to leaders so that they can build better client relationships, inspire their teams, and confidently lead their organizations into the future. She teaches a graduate-level course at the Harvard Kennedy School and has spent 20 years developing leadership communication programs for Fortune 50 companies, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. She has worked with prime ministers and their cabinets and CEOs and their leadership teams, teaching them authentic leadership as a way to inspire their constituents and teams. She also travels around the world with the nonprofit Vital Voices Global Partnership, teaching leadership communication to help women leaders grow their business, run for office, or launch a nonprofit. Allison is a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) and a Certified Virtual Presenter. She holds a master's degree in public administration from the Harvard Kennedy School and is an internationally-renowned singer/songwriter who uses music as a way to help others find their voice and their courage to speak. As an avid tech enthusiast, Allison has incorporated artificial intelligence into her keynotes, workshops and coaching to help people improve their speaking skills. More broadly, she is researching the intersection of AI and authenticity and what that means for the future of human connection. Allison is the author of Speak with Impact: How to Command the Room and Influence Others (HarperCollins Leadership), which was a Washington Post best-seller, and the new companion e-guide Speak with Impact VIRTUALLY. She has spoken at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Next Gen Summit, the Most Powerful Women in Banking LEAD Conference, and was a finalist for 2017 Woman Business Owner of the Year by the National Association of Women Business Owners, San Diego Chapter. A lifelong learner and world traveler who has taught public speaking on nearly every continent, Allison can ask for directions in ten languages but can only understand the responses in four. One of the proudest moments of her life was singing the National Anthem for the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Allison had a number of amazing insights during our conversation. Some of them include: “[There is so much value in public speaking in] not reading every single person's body language” (8:05). “[Our perceptions of] body language expressions can be accurate, but they're not necessarily related to us or what we're saying” (9:05). “What I'm doing is co-creating a reality between me and each member of the audience” (10:30). “I'm always very intentional about the energy I'm creating with myself so that I can perform at my best” (12:20). “'It depends' is one of my favorite answers because very few issues are binary” (15:45). “I'm always someone who's loved to learn new things. I love going from not knowing to knowing” (16:10). “Why you?” (24:35). “You're not the center of attention. Your message is the center of attention” (26:00). “I do [need validation]” (29:05). “I don't just do this work as a job. The work that I do is an extension of who I am and what I believe and how I want to show up in this world” (29:35). “It's hard to balance the strategy of running the company with the creativity of making new content” (31:30). “AI is going to affect every part of our lives in ways we can control and ways we can't control” (34:20). “When you're speaking, you're actually engaging the audience in conversation” (41:10). “[Executive presence is] a way of speaking and acting that makes others take notice and listen” (41:30). “Confidence comes from a belief in our ability to affect a positive outcome” (43:05). “The amount of time you spend preparing for a presentation is based on two key factors: how well you know the material and how important the occasion is” (45:50). “Opera music is so rigid and folk music is so make it up as you go” (52:05). “Public speaking is closer to folk music than to opera” (52:45). “We are sometimes too close to who we are to really tap into what drives us the most” (57:05). “I am a super empowered, growth-oriented citizen of the world” (57:55). “When we tap into our own emotions, we actually tap into the emotions of our audience” (1:01:25). “The more personal I am in my songwriting, the more the audience relates to my journey” (1:02:25). “Clarity is a muscle, and we learn how to build that muscle” (1:05:15). “Your energy affects the energy of all the other people in the room” (1:05:25). Join Baylor Barbee, motivational speaker and author, on a reflective and insightful episode of the Shark Theory podcast, where he delves into the influence of personal energy on both ourselves and those around us. In this episode, Baylor shares personal anecdotes and expert viewpoints that will inspire you to consider the vibe you project and the environments you immerse yourself in. He discusses the contagious nature of energy and how it can affect our relationships, productivity, and overall well-being. In a world where stress is a common undertone in our daily lives, Baylor opens up about the subtle signs of stress he observed in his Australian Shepherd puppy, Bear, and how this was a mirror to his own unknowing tension. He emphasizes that not all stress is detrimental, but it serves as a signifier of our busy lives. He explores the idea that our personal energy doesn't just impact us but also significantly affects those close to us, including pets. Baylor challenges listeners to assess their own energy and environment, encouraging a self-aware approach to personal influence and companionship. Key Takeaways: Personal energy impacts not just oneself but also those around us, be they human or animal. Stress, while sometimes unavoidable, can be managed and adjusted to foster a positive environment. One's energy has the power to influence mood and productivity, both in personal and professional settings. Relationships thrive in environments where individual attention and presence are given importance. Surrounding oneself with either constructive or detrimental energy can have a significant effect on personal growth and achievement. Notable Quotes: "If this puppy can pick up on my energy in just seven months, how much more so do the people in our lives, especially the people that know us, feed off the energy that we have?" "The energy that you put up is so much more important. [...] It's not so much about the words that you say, but it's like when people leave your talk, what's the emotion that they have?" "Nobody is in this life alone. We're all a constant state of giving and receiving energy." "You have to be sure that you are not around the wrong energy." "You have the decision and the choice to be able to change your own day, make the most of it."

We are going to start a special series over the rest of this month and next month. We are going to be doing multiple AMA episodes. These questions are special, though, because these are questions that the ladies asked during UncommonTEEN Live! This week's AMA episode is all about influence! We are answering the questions, “How do you influence others at school without them influencing you.” “How do you show the love of Jesus to others but not become best friends when you're being nice, but they are not a good influence.” “How do you stand out from the world.”These are such great questions, and they are questions that you might have asked even yourself. To get started, let's answer the questions, “What is an influencer?” “What is influence?” Am I really an influencer?”If I were to ask you, “what is the definition of influencer?” You might say something along the lines of someone on YouTube or TikTok that has positioned themselves to be an expert in a certain area that has a massive number of followers. They set trends and have the power to affect many people. According to this definition, you would most likely say that you are not on influencer. But did you know that you are an influencer…and even bigger influencer than you realize. Every one of us are influencers. But before we dig into that, let's answer the question, “What is influence?” The definition of the word influence is, “the power to have an effect on people.” You are an influencer, because weather you realize it or not every time you come into contact with someone, you are influencing them in some kind of way. It may be for the good or it may be for the bad. Ladies, you are an influencer whether you like it or not…no matter what you're doing or where you're at. Now, I want you to look back on your life over this past month, over the past couple weeks and I want you to ask yourself, “Has my influence been about me or has it been shining the light of Jesus to this dark world?” If it's been about you, no condemnation. Ask God for forgiveness, He's ready to forgive you and decide…I am going all in with Jesus today. I am making my influence all about Jesus! In Matthew 5:14, Jesus calls you a light in this world. He says, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.”This world is a dark place. It's broken and without hope. I want you to think about light for a minute. What does light to? It helps us see in the dark, so we don't hurt ourselves. It exposes what's hidden in the dark. If you drop a $20 on the ground in the dark, it's hard to see where it landed unless you turn on the light on your phone or in the room, right? It exposes what was hidden in the dark. It also converts the darkness into light. No amount of darkness can stand up to the smallest amount of light.“Don't shine so others can see you. Shine so that through you, others can see Him.” —C.S. In this episode of Selling From The Heart, hosts Larry Levine and Darrell Amy are joined by Stacey Hanke, the author of two books, "Influence Redefined" and "Yes You Can! Everything You Need to Know from A to Z to Influence Others to Take Action." She is an expert in communication and influence, helping individuals enhance their influence and build trust through clear messaging and body language.Stacey emphasizes the importance of going back to the basics in sales and communication. In a world filled with noise and distractions, it is crucial to focus on warmth, sincerity, and authenticity. Influence is about consistent body language and messaging, as well as the ability to move people to take action long after the interaction has occurred. Hanke encourages sales professionals to seek feedback and record themselves to increase self-awareness and improve their influence. By paying attention to how they show up and being consistent in their personal brand, sales professionals can stand out and build trust with their clients. HIGHLIGHT QUOTESWhat does Selling from the Heart mean? - Stacey: “Selling from the heart is thinking like an athlete, that no matter how great you are, you know, there is always this journey of constant development.”Discussion on the meaning of influence in sales - Stacey: “When I work with sales professionals, I keep telling them, you can't turn this on and turn it off. Right. It's the consistency of that. Body language and messaging, whether you're on the screen, whether you're in person or social media. That's one side of it, Darrell. The other side is that you have this ability to move people to take action long after the interaction has occurred. I think there's one thing that the three of us have in common, and we have common with your followers, is influence doesn't necessarily happen in the first interaction, but it's a series of how people experience you that are consistent every time. That consistency, to me, is key, especially now more than ever, because I see my clients show up a certain way on Zoom, and then I'll meet them in person, and I'm thinking, okay, that's not the same. That's different.” Connect with Stacey and check her work in the links below:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/staceyhanke/Website: https://staceyhankeinc.com/ Learn more about Darrell and Larry: Darrell | Larry | Website Got a video about how you sell from the heart? Thoughts on Breathing I noticed if I start feeling anxious or something scares me, I'll take four breaths in and four breaths out. The other thing that helps me is to take a breath in and then exhale, as long as I can. That was the style then I had freckles I had these ugly glasses; just things that were not helping me be at my best. I remember kids saying mean things about my brother's name, Jack. So, Jack and Jill; I heard all kinds of versions of the nursery rhyme. I had a definite incident of inappropriate sexual contact. And that was really upsetting, where I felt like I couldn't even go to school like I'd be looked at. I had my share of feeling bullied, feeling insecure, feeling threatened. I think in my life, there have been many moments of feeling bullied, feeling insecure, feeling unsafe, feeling taunted, feeling teased, which might be slightly different than being taunted. The point is, part of children's messiness is a certain meanness. Now, here's my hope and excitement for the future and the present; I believe fully that children now are much more conscious and more mindful. This episode begins with the answer to that question. https://www.newswise.com/articles/sleep-on-it-is-sound-science-based-advice# We all get those weird feelings – you know like we are being watched or that feeling that time is passing by faster or you have memory from your past, but you are not sure if it is true. Here to discuss that is Dr. Jen Martin, an award-winning educator from the University of Melbourne and author of the book Why Am I Like This?: The Science Behind Your Weirdest Thoughts and Habits (https://amzn.to/3C5wgdb) We have the power to influence others in a positive way. Not to sell or persuade them but to make their lives better. And it is pretty easy to do according to Tommy Spaulding, author, speaker and former CEO of Up With People. Tommy writes about this in his new book The Gift Of Influence: Creating Life-Changing and Lasting Impact in Your Everyday Interactions (https://amzn.to/3e0FXSl).
