On this episode of The Art of Fitness, Steve talks with Morgan Gray. Morgan is a 17 year old student at Winfield High School, in the small town of Milton, West Virginia, going into her senior year. She started CrossFit the summer of 2015, did her first competition that same August at the WV Championship and placed 2nd, decided to try her hand at the 2016 CrossFit open and placed 80th worldwide in the 16-17 division. That's when she decided to leave her track team and pursue CrossFit sport more seriousely. In the teen division, Morgan is a Granite Games qualifier, a Wodapolooza qualifier, And the sitting top podium finisher at the West Virginia Championship. In the 2017 CrossFit open She placed 10th worldwide in the 16-17 division. In the Teen Qualifier, she finished 17th. That finish bought her a ticket to 2017 CrossFit Games where she finished 12th overall.
On this episode of The Art of Fitness, Steve talks with Ryan Elrod. Ryan is a 34 year old acrobat and professional functional fitness athlete. Living in Orlando Florida, Ryan has been a performer with Cirque Du Soleil for almost a decade, is a current member of the DC Brawlers in the National Pro Grid League, and is the oldest individual male to qualify for the 2017 CrossFit Games. In spite of all of this, Ryan is most Proud of his family. He is a dedicated husband, a loving father to a 4 year old boy, and is excited to welcome his second child, a baby girl, who will arrive in late September. In this episode, Ryan goes into detail about how difficult it was to be able to say they had a second child coming. He and his wife were in fertility treatment for nearly three years until their doctor found the right combination of treatment to help them finally get pregnant. Unfortunately, the very treatment that brought them so much joy is also the reason that Ryan has been disqualified, with a 2 year ban, from competing in this year's CrossFit Games.

She has a BA in Accounting, an MBA with an emphasis in Accounting both from Murray State University where she ran cross country and track. She is also a member of the 2015 and 2016 CrossFit Games Team Champions, CrossFit Mayhem Freedom. We talk about opportunity, sacrifice, the pursuit of happiness, and accountability. On this episode of The Art of Fitness, Steve talks with Alexis Johnson. Alexis is a 26 year old PhD student at Rice University studying Mathematics. She is also a soon to be 2x CrossFit Games competitor. Growing up in Michigan, Alexis was a competitive gymnast throughout her youth. In 2016 she took the CrossFit world by storm having several publications exclaiming that Alexis was one of the top athletes to watch. The phrase “Major Transformation” is an understatement when describing Alexis. When she started CrossFit in 2013, she weighed only 88 pounds. In this episode, Alexis shares, how she used fitness to dig herself out of a years long battle with an eating disorder. How it manifested, how she conquered it, and what large a role CrossFit played in helping her.

One of a very small group of experts on the subject who has successfully disseminated his work across all combat communities including: self-defense, combat sport, and military and law enforcement, Tony's research into the psychology and physiology of fear mitigation and confrontation management has influenced many. Tony has been teaching personal self-defense to individuals, military, and law enforcement for over 35 years. Early in his teaching career, he had a student that got messed up pretty bad in a street fight, and that incident made Tony reflect real hard on what it was he was teaching which ultimately gave way to The SPEAR system. Based on an 80000-year-old DNA, SPEAR teaches one to tap into the amygdala's natural fight or flight response in order to utilize the human instinct to flinch. This gross motor natural phenomenon, wired deep inside of all of us, is what Tony feels is the very thing that can be used as a weapon for self preservation when forced into a violent situation. On this episode of The Art of Fitness, Steve Talks with Logan Collins. Logan is a 25 year old CrossFit athlete and Owner of CrossFit Rejoice in Wylie Texas. Growing up in Wylie Texas, he played a little football when he was young, focused on baseball through high school, and tried his hand as a fireman when he joined the world. All the while, Logan says that he had no real work ethic. When he found CrossFit in 2015, he didn't know anything about the sport. That's when he started his quick and dramatic climb to competing on the world stage. In 2015 he placed 7th at the south regional, this was when he qualified using ring pull ups because he didn't have a pull up bar. In 2016, he climbed to 3rd place in the south regional after he finished 45th worldwide in the open. That was his ticket to his rookie season at the 2016 CrossFit games. Logan made another jump at this years south regional where he got 1st place overall earning him an invite to the 2017 CrossFit games in Madison Wisconsin. On this episode of The Art of Fitness, Steve Talks with Tasia Percevecz Tasia is a 26 year old CrossFit athlete and is also a coach at CrossFit Free in Salam New Hampshire. A Gymnast from the age of 5, Tasia was offered a full ride gymnastics scholarship to the University of New Hampshire where she earned a Bachelors in Biology. After graduating in 2013 and leaving competitive gymnastics, Tasia felt lost, milling around gym floors, bouncing from treadmill to elliptical. Tasia was then introduced to CrossFit and started her journey as a competitor shortly after. She made her regional debut in the 2015 season, and at the 2016 CrossFit games she found herself with a 15th place worldwide finish.
