A tribute to Jim "Gully" Gullickson and Karen Wright. In 2014, Jim Gullickson and Karen Wright, the general and operations managers of KMSU-FM in Mankato, Minnesota, took a chance on a young adult hoping to make it for himself as a broadcaster. Throughout 2015 and early 2016, these two people would become Wes' mentors. Jim Gullickson retired in 2019, and Karen Wright will be retiring at the end of 2025. In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, Wes pays tribute to the two people who became a very influential part of his life, and thanks them for everything. The title of the episode is misleading, but that is intentional as it is addressed to both Gullickson and Wright and NOT a podcast series finale.Any feedback you have can be submitted to the Facebook page (facebook.com/TCTrekkiesPod), or by emailing them at tctrekkiespodcast@gmail.com. Piotr Michael Interview.PLEASE NOTE: this episode was put together in July 2024 - before the strike. In 2023, a new video game sprang on to the scene, Star Trek: Resurgence. It was a third-person adventure game, with its plot a follow-up to the first season Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "The Last Outpost." It included the voice of Jonathan Frakes as William Riker, however, one of the other voice actors stood out - Piotr Michael, who channeled the late Leonard Nimoy as Ambassador Spock. Resurgence takes place before the 24th century events of the 2009 Star Trek feature film so naturally a new voice actor was needed to play Spock. In this mini-episode of Twin Cities Trekkies - long delayed due to the Video Game Strike of 2024 (which has now ended as of June 11, 2025) - Wes interviews Piotr Michael, who voiced Spock and asks about his career, how he was able to channel Nimoy, and teases about other projects he is currently doing.Any feedback you have can be submitted to the Facebook page (facebook.com/tctrekkiespod), or by emailing them at tctrekkiespodcast@gmail.com. Una McCormack's The Autobiography of Kathryn Janeway. During the seven seasons of Star Trek: Voyager, we got to know Kathryn Janeway very well. We knew who she was like, a little bit about her history before Voyager and how she was a strong and capable starship commander. But in all that time, have we heard about her background before Voyager, in her own words? In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, which marks the fifth part of the podcast's celebration of Star Trek: Voyager's thirtieth anniversary, Wes reviews Una McCormack's 2020 novel The Autobiography of Kathryn Janeway, which was published during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and was published to celebrate the silver anniversary of the television series. To bring the episode an extra flair, Wes interviews Una herself! She talks about the novel and her Star Trek literary journey. Seven of Nine.Introduced in the fourth season of Star Trek: Voyager to boost the series' tanking ratings, Seven of Nine became an integral part of that series. She became known not only for her sex appeal, but also for her smarts. So much so, she became a force to be reckoned with as her life took her beyond Voyager, but eventually with the Fenris Rangers, to eventually becoming the newest captain of the Enterprise in Star Trek: Picard. Of course, none of this would be possible without the actress who portrayed her for at least seven full seasons - four on Voyager, three on Picard, and hopefully beyond - by none other than Jeri Ryan. In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, which celebrates 30 Years of Star Trek: Voyager, Wes is joined by Crusher Convo's Jessi to talk about this rather unique character in Star Trek history. Star Trek: Section 31. Initially announced as a television series in 2019, it was later morphed into a Suicide Squad Meets Star Trek movie. The film still stars Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, as the film and the TV series before it had been envisioned as a vehicle for her. However, in this "Lost Era" film, a future Enterprise captain steals the show. In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, Wes reviews the film and finds out that Michelle Yeoh did not steal the show as Philippa Georgiou. Kathryn Janeway. The lead character of Star Trek: Voyager did a lot for her crew in seven years. To trying to merge the Starfleet and Maquis crews after being stranded in the Delta Quadrant, to try and doing several alliances with the Kazon and the Borg, Kathryn Janeway has done it all. Her experiences as trying to hold the ideals of the Federation made her the perfect candidate for the Emergency Training Hologram version for the Starship Protostar in Star Trek: Prodigy. In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, which continues the 30 Years of Star Trek: Voyager Celebration, Wes has decided to rebroadcast Episode 35 (at least, the discussion part) to showcase the fourth main character analysis that he and Kenzie did back on January 26, 2022.
