Celebrating the 35th anniversary of "The Best of Both Worlds."In 1990, Star Trek: The Next Generation hit its stride with its popular third season cliffhanger finale, "The Best of Both Worlds," an episode that became one of the best cliffhanger finales in television history, alongside "Who Shot J.R." from Dallas and "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" from The Simpsons. The three-month gap in new episodes, wondering what would happen to the crew of the Enterprise would be one of the longest and agonizing ordeals for Star Trek fans, only surpassed with the unintentional two-year gap between seasons two and three of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, Wes welcomes Terri and Audrey of The Voy Cast to talk TNG, the cliffhanger and other Star Trek related topics. Imagine finding a secret perk to divorce that transforms everything about how you see yourself, your life, and your future. That's exactly what this episode uncovers – the extraordinary gift that divorce offers women: the ability to have the best of both worlds. Most divorced women struggle with guilt for focusing on themselves, feeling trapped between societal expectations of motherhood and their own unfulfilled desires for personal growth. Through years of coaching women through divorce recovery, I've discovered that this painful transition actually creates a unique opportunity to balance two critical roles – being fully present as a mother while also honoring yourself as an individual woman with dreams, desires, and needs. This balance isn't just possible; it's necessary. When you become the best version of yourself by reconnecting with your intuition, setting healthy boundaries, practicing self-compassion, and learning self-love, you simultaneously become the best parent for your children. You model wholeness rather than self-abandonment. You create safety through self-trust rather than people-pleasing. You demonstrate what it means to live with integrity and authenticity.Breaking free from the socialized idea that marriage and motherhood represent a woman's highest purpose isn't easy. Many women completely lose themselves in these roles, forgetting they exist as individuals outside of caring for others. Divorce disrupts this pattern, creating space to rediscover yourself while still being the mother you want to be – perhaps an even better one because you're no longer depleted, resentful, or disconnected from your own needs.Ready to embrace this powerful perspective shift and start experiencing the best of both worlds? Listen now to discover the four key ways to become your best self after divorce, and join the community of women who are rewriting their divorce stories from ones of failure to stories of liberation, growth, and wholeness. To download your FREE GUIDE: "What to Expect When Divorcing: The Ultimate Guide to Dealing with the Emotional Rollercoaster of Divorce" click here. The way Jeff “Trip” Tripician sees it, he didn't leave his job as CEO of a conventional meat company to become CEO of the Dutch cultivated meat company Meatable; rather, he went from CEO of one meat company to another. After decades working to institute progressive practices within the U.S. meat industry, Trip is pushing the cultivated meat industry to progress by, essentially, helping them understand that they are meat companies, not food-tech companies. And by hammering home the idea that feeding the world's population is strategy, not a competition, he aims to create that brass ring of business — synergy. Trip Tripician joined MeatingPod for a wide-ranging and frank discussion of meat, alt-meat, food-tech, the climate, and the crossroads at which they all are standing.

In midlife, our bodies start speaking louder—whether through hormonal shifts, chronic inflammation, or the wear and tear of years of stress. Western medicine often focuses on treating symptoms, while Eastern healing philosophies emphasize root-cause healing, balance, and longevity. But what if we could blend the best of both worlds for a truly comprehensive, patient-centered approach to health? This week, I'm joined by Dr. Anuradha Lala-Trindade (Anu Lala), a renowned cardiologist specializing in heart failure management, cardiometabolic disease, and holistic patient care. She believes in a patient-centered approach, integrating medical advancements with emotional and spiritual well-being to create personalized treatment plans. Dr. Lala serves as Deputy Editor of the Journal of Cardiac Failure, leads research for major cardiology networks, and has been recognized by the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology for her contributions to cardiovascular education and awareness. In this episode we discuss; How Western medicine & Eastern healing complement each other in midlife health Why treatment ≠ healing and how to shift from symptom management to whole-body wellness The role of chronic inflammation in aging & how to reduce it naturally How stress, trauma, and emotional health impact heart disease and longevity The best lifestyle strategies to balance hormones, improve metabolism & boost energy How to navigate medication vs. lifestyle interventions to create the best health plan If you're ready to explore a more balanced, integrated approach to health and healing in midlife, this episode is for you.

That was what I was really worried about - what would retirement be like? So many people are rushing towards it, and they don't really think about what life will be like afterwards. And I was thinking a lot about how I would spend my time, what I would do, what the challenges might be, and what's caught me by surprise is just this feeling of joy. I feel like a kid on the first day of summer vacation, and I know this won't last. Everything changes. This is kind of the honeymoon period, but yeah, it's really fun.Well, I'm incredibly blessed and lucky that the financial stuff was in place. It was taken care of, and it allowed me to retire a little bit earlier than the norm. But again, the other thing that surprised me was how hard that decision was to make, because I really loved what I did...And then a friend and former colleague of mine died in a car accident. And he was only 61 and we'd spent a lot of time talking about what we were going to do in retirement. And it brought home the fact that we don't have infinite time." I had really wanted an off-ramp from my job at NerdWallet, and they didn't support working part-time. So that was kind of a difficult thing to wrap my head around and realize, okay, I don't have this option, so this was the next best. A lot of companies, though, do have some kind of off-ramp, and I think it helps people a lot because you keep your foot in the workplace, you can have continuing, you know, because social interaction is so important, you can have that part of your identity still remain intact so you have that sense of purpose. You're making some money, which for a lot of people is really important to make their money last, but you're starting the process of exiting. And just as a rant on the side,

Originally released on Patreon, August 18, 2023 On this month's very special edition of our Star Trek re-cap show, The Nexus, the gang is talking about TNG's "The Best of Both Worlds!" The first part aired June 16, 1990 as the finale of the third season, and the season four premiere, part two, aired September 22, 1990. This is of course the fabulous in-series movie-feeling two-parter where Picard is captured and assimilated by the Borg! How much does Riker super-hate that Commander Shelby? Lotta laughs at Wesley getting shut down at the poker game, no? Isn't it just incredible seeing the Whoopster here? How cool is Riker's blackout line for part one? And any time you get to see that Battle Bridge on this show, you know you're in for a good time! PLUS: Tons of moments of Worf and Data just ICING Borg left and right! The Nexus is a WHM podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Thank you so much for continuing to support this weird thing we do—we couldn't do it without you! We know you have lots of options for podz and we're super-stoked you chose to spend some time with us—thanks again! Thank you for checking out this WHM Patreon Unlock! If you like what you heard and want to explore The Nexus further, this show drops on a monthly basis, available to subscribers at the $8 and $10 levels! There are currently 95 episode of The Nexus—that's a lotta Trek! Original cover art by Felipe Sobreiro.

This week, Tom Segura and Christina P have some new music tastes to talk about before opening the show with a guy who has a size question for all the ladies out there. They then show a video clip of their fully customized bathroom. This is the kinda guy ya gettin. Tom also plays a snippet from an old YMH episode where he predicts how his nose would turn out as an older man and then plays a clip of an old man senator having fun with some old timey words. Comedian and podcaster Ian Fidance joins the Main Mommies and he recently dropped a new comedy special "Wild, Happy & Free" which led to him filling out his childhood fantasy of being a ghostbuster and filming at the firehouse from the movie. Ian debates Tim and Kristin about his bisexuality, specifically the male kind, and determine if it's cap. They check-in with the Double Soul Shaman, check out Christina's new footwear choices, and play a quick would you rather, before getting into some of Christina's infamous TikTok curations.
