The idea came about organically, grew out of covid, and is now a large and growing membership platform with weekly, quarterly and yearly options. Humans are stressed. Life runs at an incredibly fast pace and the idea of calming the mind and settling down can be hard for many. I couldn't agree more with what Harry had to say, ‘We're not living in our bodies, were just living way too much in our head'. The themes that run throughout are so potent. The sense of community and science, meets spirituality, connecting with nature, swearing in ceremony. This episode really resonated with me and I really think you're on to something. When you block the themes together, it's fascinating how people from various backgrounds hammer on the same common threads. These are all great people and I'm thankful and honored that they were guests and took the time to share insights with us. We never did get to the part about him teaching me Singlish, but that's for another time. After leaving the world of private equity, Sam ventured off to start Gipsy Hill Brewery as a way to be more hands on and to create a better work life balance. But with four young kids at home, he quickly realized that work runs you until you get on top of it. There are a few laughs in this one, but Sam's approach to business and life is inspiring. And he hits on a number of principles that can be applied to any entrepreneur anywhere including; focusing on value and how a product makes someone feel, the idea that you only need a small audience to make a version of a thing, a brand's ability to unite a team and tell a story. When you are a person, like many entrepreneurs wearing many hats, how and when you can start to remove a hat or two, and ultimately at the end of the day, how it's all about fantastic people. Sam's passion, intelligence and heart are on full display and in his words, yeast is magic. Norm is a guru. There's no other way to put it. He covers a lot in this conversation and some of the things that drew me in are the idea as to what separates great producers from average producers. For high performers, the big separator is the time frame in which they think. Framing the long game, the short game and the infinite game. It's interesting how tweaks in language can be so powerful. For example, referrals versus introductions and mastering the art of retaining introductions. One of my favorite parts of the conversation is the ‘Can't Miss' section on mastering the client attraction conversation. In the fascinating take on how you answer the question, ‘what do you do?'
