And it looks expensive. He's like it is. I got big dreams and I want someone by my side to grow an empire with. She asks him to put it on her. We then see a bunch of clips of the Kentucky Derby from over the years. We meet Sadie who is going to leave her family's greenhouse, the one for Churchill Downs, so that she can become a full time florist - that's her dream. She notices some work being done at Churchill Downs. Apparently a storm came through. We then meet Ash Taylor. He's the son of the Churchill Downs CEO. His dad calls him and says there's been an emergency and asks him to come home. Ash is like I'm too busy to help you. It's clear that he and his dad don't see eye to eye. Ash even changed his last name so that people wouldn't know that he is a Reed. He doesn't want to take any shortcuts. But when his mom asks him to do it, he can't say no. He comes across Sadie who is looking at the flowers at Churchill Downs. They chat and bond over not wanting to take over the family business. They end up watching fireworks together and having a great time. But they didn't exchange information...not even names. Luckily for them, they bump into each other at a bar the next night. They have a great time! Ash's mom bumps into Sadie and sees some of her work and hires her to put together some bouquets for a fundraising event. When Sadie's boss finds out, she's like well...figure it out. She's gotta find some roses. Luckily Ash knows where they can find some in the wild. This is when she explains that greenhouse flowers are different than florist flowers and I gotta be honest....thankful for that explanation. This is also when she finds out that he is the son of the Derby folks, the Reeds, and she's not pleased. We find out that that couple at the beginning of the movie was Ash's great-uncle and Sadie's great-grandma. Apparently they were in love. But his dad wouldn't let him marry her. The flowers mysteriously end up on Sadie's doorstep and the event is a big success. She ends up going out with Ash again but they get in an argument - apparently his family thinks that her great-grandmother kept the jewelry. Her family says they gave it back. It's a whole thing. But no time to wallow. She finds out that the roses for the Derby's blanket of roses are stuck in South America. So she posts a video on social media asking for the community to all bring their roses. And it works! The roses come flying in. Big success! She also finds a letter that tells her where the necklace is and she brings it to Ash to have him put it on her. And they kiss BIG HONKEN ONES! KISS OF THE YEAR CONTENDER! It's Derby day! He tells his dad he's willing to come back if he can run the charity that finds homes for old Derby horses. Her best friend wins the Derby. And then his dad says they are going to source the roses locally moving forward and they want her to do it first. They celebrate with another kiss. In this episode, Mauricio sits down with Adam Reeds, co-founder and CEO of Ledn, to discuss his upbringing in Canada in a family shaped by his father's work in agricultural banking and his mother's career in education — a stable, functional financial backdrop that would later contrast sharply with Mauricio's Venezuelan experience and ultimately inspire the founding of Ledn. Adam breaks down Ledn's landmark $188 million Bitcoin-backed loan ABS (Asset-Backed Securities) bond — the first of its kind in history. He explains how the structure mirrors traditional finance vehicles used for auto loans, mortgages, and credit card debt, and why fitting Bitcoin-backed loans into that framework unlocks access to the $3 trillion US ABS market. He details why Ledn was uniquely positioned to pull this off after eight years of operating with zero client or loan losses. He also explains how that track record was essential for S&P Global to issue the first-ever investment grade rating on a Bitcoin product. Adam walks through the rigorous year-long process with S&P, including stress tests around Bitcoin volatility, liquidation thresholds, and systemic risk scenarios — many of which played out live as Bitcoin's price dropped from the 80s to the 60s during the deal's marketing period, ultimately validating Ledn's automated and non-discretionary processes in real time. Led by Jefferies as structuring agent, the deal attracted 15 institutional participants across 50 meetings, including a major reinsurance company, traditional credit funds, and hedge funds. It closed more than two times oversubscribed on the senior tranche and three times on the mezzanine. Adam explains how the bond's structure — with Fidelity as custodian and a blended rate of 7.2% — brings unprecedented transparency to Ledn's operations, allowing clients to see exactly where their Bitcoin sits and how the funding side of the business works. He also discusses how this model removes the arbitrary jurisdictional barriers of traditional lending by treating Bitcoin collateral from borrowers around the world as equal, regardless of geography. Looking ahead, Adam previews lower rates for borrowers, expansion into more US states, better functionality for business accounts at Ledn, and the rollout of Ledn's mobile app.

Parashat B'shallach [Exodus 13:17-17:16] is the 4th parashah in the Book of Exodus. It features the dramatic crossing of the Sea of Reeds [14:1-31] with the companion poem [15:1-19], and a number of misfortunes: the lack of water, the lack of food, another lack of water [the Exodus story of Moses & The Rock, reprised in Numbers 20:1-13], and the attack of Amalek, which will reverberate through biblical history and beyond. It is a partiuclarly rich parashah in a book that is known to have several. We hope our conversation lives up to the parashah! We take note of the return of the body of Ran Gvili to Israel for a well-deserved dignified burial. This is the first time since 2014 that there are no Israeli hostages in Gaza. It is a time of complex emotional responses, but surely thanksgiving is one of them. We continue to keep in mind the soldiers defending Israel as members of the Israel Defense Forces. Shabbat Shalom!

Although Pharaoh regretted his decision to allow the Israelites to leave and chased them down, setting up a stand-off at the Sea of Reeds, once the sea split for the Israelites and crashed down upon the Egyptians, the Israelites were forever freed from the clutches of Egyptian bondage. Following that day, the Israelites will never see the Egyptians again. Our people are thrice warned to never return back to Egypt. There's nothing left for us there. The split was permanent. We're gone forever.But this wasn't always the plan. When Moshe initially pitched Pharaoh to release the Israelites, he sought a temporary reprieve. "Let us travel three days into the wilderness and have a festival of sacrifices for God. Moshe implied that the nation would return following the festival. This is repeated multiple times in the narrative, as the Plague escalated and Pharaoh was pliable to negotiate: First, he offered to host the festival in Egypt. That was untenable because the Israelites intended to sacrifice sheep, the deities of Egypt. Then, Pharaoh agreed to allow the adults to go, provided that the children of the animals stay behind as collateral. Finally, Pharaoh relented to allow the adults and the children to participate in this festival, if the nation agreed to leave the animals behind.When the nation left and three days elapsed and the nation failed to signal a return back to Egypt, Pharaoh pursued them. What is the nature of this counterfactual three-day festival? Was it a legitimate proposal or a deceptive ruse? In this very fascinating podcast, we share three different approaches. Taking a new turn this week, the Ron Flatter Racing Pod is off on a fishing expedition at a pond in Scott County, Kentucky. Eric Reed, who trained Rich Strike to an 80-1 upset victory in Kentucky Derby 2022, is joined by his father Herbie Reed, who living with cancer. While fishing for crappie and bass and shellcrackers from the shore of Lake Tyson, the Reeds reminisce about their lives. Herbie Reed recalls how he and his wife became teenage parents and why he tried to steer Eric away from the horse business that had been his life the generation before. In the rural Southeast, roadside ditches – known as “bar ditches” – carry on for miles. The term bar ditch probably comes from their construction, when dirt was "borrowed" to build up the road. The ditches are full of water and full of life, these narrow wetlands. Herons stalk the shallow water, stabbing at minnows. Common Gallinules, like this one, swim on the surface. Reeds and bulrushes provide cover for secretive marsh birds like King Rails.
