What's your sweet spot? Can you answer this question? Whether you are an Uber driver or a Fortune 500 CEO, if you aren't currently exercising your strengths in your position, then you haven't fully tapped into your potential. With a few tweaks here and there, you could be living everyday right in the pocket of the very thing you were made to do.  With his company, Greenhouse Culture, Steve Perkins has committed his life to helping people, organizations and companies develop a culture that enables them to thrive and really make an impact. No matter the level of business, this all starts with the same denominator; finding your sweet spot. What makes you come alive? What really energizes you? Greenhouse Culture exists to “help people understand what is that sweet spot of their strengths and passions and how they are uniquely wired.” And then to “help them learn to be aware of that and how to put that into practice.” This simple idea has surprising results as people are often not as self-aware as they would like to believe. But through testing and learning, it is possible for leaders to put their people in the right seats on the bus that increases motivation and enhances their experience within a company. S2 E1: 4 Reasons to Utilize Alexa to Grow Your Business

Alexa. You've heard about her, seen the catchy commercials, and maybe even have one in your home, but chances are you've only begun to unlock her potential. This device, that has proven to have had the fastest install base in history, is transforming the way people interact with technology. And if you haven't discovered what she can do to give you or your company a leg up in marketing your brand, then stay tuned. In our first episode in this new year of 2019, co-hosts Bart Simpson and Matthew Nutt, sat down with Jeff Smith, known as https://alexaguy.com (The Alexa Guy), whose current position leads him to “help individuals, entrepreneurs, companies, come up with a strategy for Alexa so they can use Alexa for their businesses.” Jeff has been at the front lines of the intersection of technology and business for the last twenty years. Starting as a television producer in Hollywood, he created a website (a difficult and much sought after feat at the time) for the show he produced. This opened his mind to consider all the ways that we could marry technology with the other avenues of our lives. He recounts that in 1996 the Internet blitzed the market and became a revolutionary tool. Then in 2007, Apple released the iPhone which again changed the way people communicate using technology. Smith believes that the impact of Alexa is as significant, and will even surpass the legacy of the previous giants. Because of her unprecedented popularity and the advancement of her intelligence, the potential for businesses to tap into her resources, is tremendous. “There is a way for people to get an advantage to where they can compete with the big boys.” One of the most practical ways is through an Alexa Flash Briefing and we are going to tell you all about it in this episode! What is does greatness mean to you? Our guests are always asked this one question to kick off our podcast episodes to gather various perspectives on the equivocal status that we are all pursuing.   For Nick Macco, rather than viewing greatness as a giant finish line, he perceives it more as a process from beginning to end. Being the co-founder of Southtree and https://legacybox.com/ (Legacybox), he has learned that greatness is the sum of many small actions to gradually become "a little bit better". As is the pursuit of greatness or leaving a legacy, that has been exactly the path Macco has traveled to find himself part of a successful eCommerce venture that (ironically) aims to preserve the legacy and memories of others.   https://southtree.com (Southtree) and https://legacybox.com/ (Legacybox) are two brands that Macco and his partner, Adam Boeselager, spearheaded together based on a small business model. "As a parent, you're a leader from day one." This is something that co-host Matthew Nutt knows well, now a father of three. "However, the leadership style and leadership challenges that you go through continuously change. They're never the same. What I've learned is they change for each child."   He likens this experience to being a leader in an organization. Many leaders find that their communication style and leadership methods will vary based on the types of people that you connect with and nurture as future leaders of your company.   Matt Vairetta also has some thoughts about the correlation of raising leaders at home and in the workplace. Vairetta is Student Pastor at the Church of the City in Nashville, Tenn. but he is also the host of a podcast called "Navigating Adolescence". Our podcast co-host, Bart Simpson, has always believed, "You're going nowhere if you're sitting still." At age 16, he was already flying a plane solo and managing his own lawn care business!   This kind of drive exists in many of us, whether or not its related to business, sales or marketing. We strive to get to the top to make a difference, to find success and to leave a legacy.   That all sounds well and good, but what happens when you get to the top. It may look like a cakewalk, but it can be lonely up there. The responsibilities can be enormous; the criticism can be overwhelming; and self-motivation can become short in supply.   Still, the reward is so great and the goals achievable if you're prepared for the speed bumps that may try to trip you up along the way.

Over the course your life, it's likely that you are spending at least one-third of it at work. Crazy realization, right? With that much time and energy spent into your job, it's difficult to not become emotionally attached to it in some capacity.   This week's guest, Vice President of Sales for Gold Bond Inc. Britney Godsey, enlightened us with an interesting thought: the baby boomer generation typically operated with a live-to-work mentality, whereas today's millenials are demanding a more work-to-live lifestyle with very different expectations. The fact is that emotional intelligence plays a more significant role today than ever on a leader's success and a company's potential.    KNOWLEDGE & NUGGETS: Download our Self-Happiness Checklist and Employee Happiness Canvas to make a change in your workplace now! Marketing urgency is something that nearly every organization feels is warranted for their message. But our guest Craig Ingram of Tennessee 811 has 379,000 reasons why his organization's message is incredibly urgent. Based on 2016 statistics, there were about 379,000 utility damages that took place nationwide. In other words, there is a utility line that is damaged every 1-2 minutes.   Why does this matter? Because damages to gas lines and underground electrical wires costs money, causes outages and sometimes public safety. This is why Craig's job is so important. It's his duty to educate the public on the need to "Call Before You Dig" to prevent any unfortunate situations. The trouble is, many people don't realize the urgency of this message until it's too late.    So, Craig has to get a little creative when delivering his message.   With us, Craig covers: Public speaking tips How to recover from a PR mistake Crafting an effective message for your audience How to measure the success of delivering a message Pursuing higher education Leading by example Building a successful team KNOWLEDGE & NUGGETS: Download our infographic on how to overcome failure and not let it hold you back!
