Are you leading from your strengths, or simply telling others what they should do? In this week's episode, John Maxwell unpacks the challenging truth that leaders don't just teach what they know—they reproduce who they are by their example. Key takeaways: Leading yourself effectively with authenticity and consistency can be your greatest daily challenge. The responsibility of leadership means modeling growth and resilience so your team mirrors your example, not just your instructions. Do Business. Do Life. — The Financial Advisor Podcast — DBDL
A prospect can sit through an entire meeting, nod along, ask good questions, and still leave without fully understanding why they need you. That's the problem. Many advisors explain their value clearly, but they don't make it easy for prospects to see the difference between where they are today and where they could be with the right plan in place. In Part 2 of this three-part series, I break down one of the simplest ways to make your planning process feel more tangible, more understandable, and more compelling without overwhelming prospects with more information.3 Insights From This Week's Episode…#1.) Why Prospects Struggle To See Your ValueYou may understand the strategy, the software, and the planning opportunities sitting underneath the surface. But your prospect often just sees complexity. I cover why this disconnect matters and how it can quietly hurt your close rate.#2.) The Hidden Cost Of Leading With ComplexityAdvisors often walk into meetings with charts, projections, jargon, and too many decision points. The problem is that more information doesn't always create more clarity. We explore why this can make prospects hesitate instead of move forward.#3.) The Communication Trap That Kills TrustThere's a fine line between helping prospects see what's missing and making them feel judged for not already having it figured out. I unpack the mistake advisors make here and why tone can make or break the conversation.SHOW NOTEShttps://bradleyjohnson.com/172SPONSORED BY BELAYRunning a business is hard enough without trying to do everything yourself. The Efficient Advisor: Tactical Business Advice for Financial Planners
In this episode, I'm getting really tactical about what delegation actually looks like in real life—not just the idea of it. I'm joined again by Kyle Willis from Belay, and we're breaking down exactly what you can hand off to a virtual assistant, how to do it, and what changes when you stop trying to do everything yourself.I share what I'm seeing inside my coaching programs as advisors step into the CEO role—building processes, defining responsibilities, and then hitting that very real question: “Okay, but how do I actually delegate this?”What delegation looks like before, during, and after client meetingsHow I think about handing off prep work, scheduling, and follow-up without losing controlThe 10-80-10 rule and how I use it to stay involved without doing everythingHow I've seen email go from a constant distraction to something I barely touchWhy giving feedback to your assistant is not optional—and how it actually makes everything easierHow to handle the “unexpected” work (NIGOs, paperwork issues, client fires) without it ruining your dayWhy a great assistant is not just support—but a true extension of how you run your businessIf you've been wondering what delegation actually looks like in practice, this episode will give you a clear, realistic picture of how to start.Get the Delegation Guide & Book a Call with BELAY HERE! The discussion dives into authenticity, consistency, and purpose as the foundation of influence, along with her belief that confidence comes from action and that waiting is the fastest way to stay stuck. Maha unpacks how to turn setbacks into comebacks, build a personal board of directors, and become a value creator by making consistent deposits in other people's trust banks. The difference between agroecology and regenerative agriculture is the deep social change we need in the food and agriculture system. As Laura Ortiz Montemayor told us once "ecology without social justice is just gardening". Million Belay, who leads the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa, the largest social movement on the African continent, is very clear stop intervening with agriculture on the continent, stop imposing all kinds of rules, practices, seeds, inputs etc, which don't serve in this context (and we could argue in the context we come from as well, how many European banned pesticides are exported to the continent?)We talk about the shut down of the USAID which was actually a good shock to the system. And finally donors, which unfortunately dictate quite a bit the direction, are talking and slowly also acting around agroecology. We discuss how through lobbying they managed to get many countries to adopt agroecology policies in the last few years, what Million would do with a billion dollar and what his message for investors is.More about this episode.==========================In Investing in Regenerative Agriculture and Food podcast show we talk to the pioneers in the regenerative food and agriculture space to learn more on how to put our money to work to regenerate soil, people, local communities and ecosystems while making an appropriate and fair return.
