Fun fact, the last time I recorded by myself was when I first started uploading episodes in 2020. So if I sound awkward, go easy on me because it's not easy talking to yourself with a mic on.
Between love or career, which one are you choosing? As of right now, Long and I choose career but if love came our way, we wouldn't oppose it either. We also appreciate if you could choose to follow us on our socials! Long's Twitch Youtube, and Tiktok, and my instagram!
Long and I discuss the difficulties of societal beauty standards and whether looks or personality matter more when you are trying to date someone. This is Long's debut episode so please show him some love by following him on Twitch, Youtube, and Tiktok!
In this episode, Angelyna and I explore our regrets and the different types of regrets that we've gone through as well as the ways we've tried to move on. Listen to our previous episode and we hope you enjoy listening to this one!
It's way past the month of love, but it's never too late to learn about the importance of love languages in your personal relationships! This episode was recorded at the Vera Project under the affiliation with Ground Zero Radio, and without their help I wouldn't have been able to record this episode! Please go check out their content and support all the amazing work they do for the youth and for their community!
Happy New Year!! In this episode Angela and I discuss how our break was and what manifestations we want for 2023. We are most definitely not ready for winter quarter and we can only hope for the best even when things don't go right!
This was that one episode where it was supposed to be a blooper but we kept it recording and Angelyna didn't even get to introduce herself until the end... Expect 404 error loads in our conversations because we are just as confused as you are.
It has been a running joke that I talk about Angela as if she's not real or that she's dead, and I do that so unconsciously because I always stay missing her however! She is very much real to me and to the people who's met her, and to those who just don't believe it, you don't deserve to have her in your life. #gatekeep
After two months, Angela and I are back with another new episode about what's been going on in our lives! The title says it all, and no, we didn't scream into the mic but stay tune for the bloopers of this episode coming very soon, tehe!
DISCLAIMER: Do not wear headphones when listening to this episode unless you wish to lose your hearing but for your ear's safety, listen without headphones. And just like that Miss. Angela Becerra is back! She lied about being back in eight months as it's already been a year since we recorded our HS episode, but enjoy our annual goofy episode where all we did was laugh and scream into the mic, we are deeply sorry. ***our apology episode will be next so stay tuned*** Follow this podcast on Instagram / Spotify / Applepodcast
Hi, Hello, Mabuhay! After almost a year of hiatus, I'm finally back with a new episode with one of my favorite people, Naomi Yuenschat! She is my number one bully victim and despite what I may say about her behind her back, I admire all the work she does for her community and I always enjoy talking to her because she's someone I constantly learn from. Time Stamp (1:00) - Naomi speaks about her thesis on Taiwan's Indigenous studies, her UW experience, and her future after college (11:00) - our experiences working for UW ASC and the events we've done for the year (17:00) - ending notes and sneak peak into next episode with Carl about the Philippines
After eight months since Angela has been on - she was first on back in November for our episode about Practicing Mindfulness - she's back again to talk about how our graduations went! This is a very special episode for the class of 2021 because this school year was just never-ending, but we finally made it! For the seniors who've just graduated, how do you feel?! And what do you look forward to in your future? As always, make sure to follow this podcast on Spotify, Applepodcasts, and Anchor, and the podcast's IG page! If you're curious about Angela, please go check her out too!
Music by jorikbasov from Pixabay In this special episode, I get the chance to talk with and interview two lead organizers of a coalition organization called AAPI Against Hate. Both guests are strong AAPI women who have been actively involved with organizing demonstrations, rallies, and peaceful protests to combat Asian Hate across big cities in Washington. Taking it to the streets and taking it to the chambers, Maddy and Alicia share their thoughts on what it means to be an Asian activist as well as provide ways to better educate yourself on stopping Asian Hate.
To celebrate AAPI and to raise more awareness about anti-Asian violence, I am joined with my friend Christina to tell her experience about living abroad as an Asian! Unlike before, her perspective is new because not only is this the first episode of an international crossover, but listeners will be able to understand the differences between living in American as an Asian and living elsewhere.
As we wrap up our five episode series, we reflect again on what our letters mean to us, which letters we could improve on, who are role models are, and how CARE overall affects our daily lives even without us thinking about it. The word CARE holds so much meaning to us and even when our series is over, we will continue to Connect, Adapt, Respect, and Empower ourselves and those around us, and we hope you'll do the same too! Make sure to follow this podcast on Spotify and leave a comment/rating on Applepodcast! Follow the podcast's instagram and follow the cast on their instagram too - Claire, Maddy, and Makaiah!
Hosted by Makaiah, he makes us reflect on the times when we've felt empowered, and the journey that it takes to building one's self-confidence. He doesn't just talk about self-empowerment, but he also expands the conversation into what it means to empower our community, our friends, and our families. Most importantly, he reminds us that empowerment is similar to self-care where you must practice it on yourself everyday to become a better individual. Our final CARE episode is coming out next Monday, and until then please keep following this podcast! And follow the rest of us, Maddy, Claire, and I on Instagram for more updates!
Hosted by our youngest intern, Maddy reminds us why it's important to be respectful to one another. She makes us explore the times when we've shown respect to the times where we've seen respect being shown in different cultures, particularly in Filipino households and Asian culture. Being respectful also includes being patient and understanding towards each other, and to not be insensitive when people confide in you. As always, if you like what's being said then write a on Applepodcast! Be sure to follow this podcast on Instagram and Spotify! Then check out the rest of our cohosts, Claire and Makaiah on their socials too!
In my episode, we get really deep with what it means to grow as an individual and develop a growth mindset. By looking back on our high school experience and reflecting on the moments where we could've done things differently, we've seen how much we've grown since we were freshmen to now. But the path to rebuilding ourselves isn't always easy, so we've discussed the ways we picked ourselves up and the healthier habits we've created in order to keep growing. If you enjoyed the conversations being held on this podcast, please write a review on Applepodcast and follow my instagram! Also go follow Claire, Maddy, and Makaiah to see the wonderful things they're doing!
Hosted by Claire, this episode explores the meaning of connection and community. She makes us question if we have been staying in touch with the people we love as well as help us better understand different ways to foster these relationships. Though it can be tough to reach out in a pandemic, Claire reassures everyone that they aren't alone and that taking one step to reach out for help can go a long ways for our mental health. If you like what's being said, make sure to follow and support this podcast on Spotify, Applepodcast, and Instagram!
This is part two of my Stop Asian Hate series, and it will be the last one for now until May. I said this in the first episode with Tianna and Nikki, but let this mini series be your introduction to May where we will go further into AAPI history, Asian American Racism, and the Culture of being an Asian-Americans in America. But in this episode, Jackie and I get personal with our experiences when dealing with micro-aggressive comments like being a stereotypical "model minority student" and how it impacted our identity heavily. Our conversation also goes into the struggles of rewriting Asian-American narratives while navigating our privileges and handling the damages of being whitewashed.
In light of the ongoing violence against the AAPI community, this is part of one of my mini series called "Stop Asian Hate". Though the words "Stop Asian Hate" may seem empty, the conversations being held in this episode and in the upcoming episodes are aiming to change the discourse of what it means to stop hating on Asian-Americans. Joined with me today, Tianna and Nikki provide context as to why Asian xenophobia has increased and its historical ties in American society and white supremacy. Now with the recent massacre of 6 Asian women being gunned down in Atlanta, Georgia, it's important that Asian-American women start speaking up about incidents like this or their own similar experiences because we aren't as "submissive" or "docile" as the media portrays us to be. We aren't saying anything new; we're simply trying to repeat what's already been said and repeatedly ignored in the AAPI community.
In this week's episode, Calista Ogburn (the first poet and author on my show) opens up about what it's like being an Asian-American author. She tells us her many successes as well as her challenges that got her to where is she today. Her books, "A Splash of Yellow" & "This Is It" both stem from Asian-American problems of cultural identity, not fitting in, and the hate we receive when being viewed as "foreigners". You can buy her books on Amazon and you find more information about Calista here - https://www.calista-ogburn.com/
This week’s episode is a deep dive about all things involving podcasts and podcasting!! Rheanna, the host of Uncut Mangospod, and I got really nerdy in this raw unedited episode when talking about which podcasts we listen to and why we like listening to them! We discuss how we both love sharing long conversations with friends, who we want to interview next, and where we see our shows go. We had never thought that podcasting would be a new form of creativity and meeting new people! Though we are small podcasters now, who knows where we’ll be in the future! And make sure to follow Rheanna and her podcast, uncut mangos pod on all streaming platforms and on Instagram!
In this week’s episode, Arlene and I discuss why old souls like us enjoy pen paling and writing letters as it seen as an “old-fashion” way of communicating in the modern day era. Since it’s the week of Valentine’s Day, we decided this is the perfect episode for others to think outside the box when gifting their loved ones present because you can never go wrong with writing love letters.
In this week’s episode, I am joined by not only a friend but a Project Family mentor who shares her experience as being the only STEM girl in her grade during high school, and the pressures of now being a Cinema Media Studies major. Since we are both non-STEM majors, we discuss being looked down upon for being an Asian-American student that is straying away from the grain to do their own thing. Though it can be scary to switch and follow what you want to do, Chloe and I advice that you will regret it even more if you don’t make a change now as you will be haunted by your decision later on.
In this episode, Dani (my poetry sister) and I get deep with our thoughts, feelings, and emotions! We both share a love for poetry and writing poetry as it it our way to heal from past traumas. Dani also shares her story as a cancer survivor and she gives courage to those who need it the most!
In this week’s episode, I am joined with the one and only Seattle fashionista, Tianna Andresen! She is well-known for her asymmetrical look, bright colors, and unique style that makes her pop out! So listen to this episode to learn more about her fashion journey and insights on how to be confident in what you wear!
In this week's episode, I interview Kristina Ang on what it's like working in the fashion industry. Her passion for what she does has led her to study at Parsons School of Design (The New School) in New York, City. She informs everyone about her unique experience being a fashion student and the journey to becoming one. From where she first began to where she is now, Kristina tells it all. So make sure to go follow her and her podcast @lifeofafashionstudentpodcast on Spotify or Apple podcast!
In this week's episode, I interview Joelianne Jose about her passion for bullet journaling and sticker making! Listen to her 13 minute interview about how she first created a bujo account and gained the confidence to then start her own sticker business as she saw much success from doing both! Since she is my first sponsor, use the code "ko10" to receive 10% off her stickers when checking out at stickersbyjjo on Etsy!
In this week's episode, I am joined with Karina as we reflect on our running start experience and discuss the challenges of figuring out a post high school plan. We share our struggles on finding the right major that suits you and how scary it can be to switch majors when you realize it's not what you want to do anymore. We advice people to expect the best when you follow your own path but also prepare for the worst because nothing will ever go as expected.
In this week's episode, Valeria and I give our character analysis and personal review of Netflix's Original, Grand Army. Now if you're unfamiliar with this teen drama, it follows the stories and lives of Joey, Sid, Jason, Leila, and Dom as they try to survive in Brooklyn and find their place in the world.
On this week's episode, Lindsey analyze our top five songs and artists that we streamed throughout 2020. We explain the connection we have for each song and artist as well as explain the meaning behind their lyrics. We explore the similar music genre that we both share and even take a trip down memory lane when looking back on old playlists. So if you’re a music lover like us or want new music to listen to, then this episode is definitely for you!!
On this week's episode, I am joined by another close friend of mine, Nicole-Anne Villegas, to reflect on our missed out senior year. We open up about the possible scenarios that we would've experienced if this pandemic weren't here: homecoming, prom, senior sunrise, football games, etc. We don't hide our true feelings when explaining how our future was robbed at the beginning of this year; so if you're a senior in high school, this episode is a reminder that you aren't alone and that you do have a future waiting for you after this pandemic is over.
This week's episode is for a cause - it's dedicated to the victims of Typhoon Goni and Typhoon Ulysses. Instead of donating me money, donate me your time by playing this week's episode because the number of total plays will be the amount of money I donate to a Filipino relief organization. For example, 1 play = $1 donated. I encourage that after you are done listening, you should send the link to this episode to at least one another person to keep spreading the awareness. Lastly, the evidence and research talked about in my episode are from websites like Vox, CNN, and the Earth's Observatory.
On this week’s episode I am joined with a very close friend of mine, Angela K Becerra, to address the importance of practicing mindfulness and self-care, especially during these sensitive times. By no means are we experts, but it doesn’t take an expert to know when you have exhausted your mental capacity. Give this episode a listen and subscribe to this podcast above!

To celebrate Filipino American History Month (FAHM) I dedicate this episode to talking about Filipino history and the contributions made by three Filipina women in American society. In the first half, I tell the lives of Dorothy Laigo Cordova, Thelma Garcia Buccholdt, and Cristeta Comerford. Though each woman has a different story, their end goal was always to create change for the the Filipino community and uplift their people. And as the episode comes to a close, I open up about my cultural disconnect but inevitably voice out how proud I am to be Filipino-American.
In this episode I briefly discuss my experience with quarantine burnout. From why it began, what lead to accumulate it, and how I was able to cope. The trick being to reconnect with the kid in you to get a fresh perspective about life again.
