In this episode of Anchored by the Sword Podcast, I'm joined by Willow Weston, whose brand-new book Collide: Running Into Healing When Life Hands You Hurt released today, March 10. Willow shares her powerful story of how God met her in the middle of deep pain and completely transformed her life.Growing up in a difficult environment with an alcoholic parent, Willow carried years of unspoken hurt and brokenness. By the time she reached college, the weight of those secrets had become overwhelming. But God had a different plan for her life—one that began with a “crazy Christian lady” named Cindy who simply invited Willow into her home, listened to her story, and introduced her to Jesus.Through that relationship, Willow began asking deeper questions about faith, purpose, and healing. At 21 years old, she surrendered her life to Christ, and everything changed. In this conversation, Willow shares how her personal healing journey led to the creation of Collide Ministries, which now serves thousands of women each year.Together we talk about: • Why avoiding pain actually causes more pain • The difference between asking God for healing and participating in healing • How unresolved hurt can impact our relationships, families, and even our physical health • The importance of safe community and letting others carry our burdens • Why you don't have to have everything figured out before God can use your storyWillow reminds us of a powerful truth:Jesus never avoided pain—He ran straight toward it.And if you've been avoiding your own wounds, today might be the day God is inviting you to step toward healing. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start, this episode is for you.Your healing matters. And you are worthy of it today.Bio:Willow Weston is an author, a speaker, a podcast host, and the founder of Collide, a ministry impacting women nationwide. With decades of experience, Willow brings passion and truth, sharing her own journey of pain to inspire others to invite Jesus into their brokenness so they, too, can experience healing. Willow leads conferences that empower, heal, and transform women. She has authored several Bible studies, including The Birds and the Lilies; Personal and Powerful; Go Ahead; Yes, You; and Collide and Converse.Willow loves telling stories and inviting others to share theirs. She's a spelling bee champ but loses miserably in Trivial Pursuit. She can throw a mean dinner party but is a criminal at the local library. She has a hippie name and once lived on a school bus as a kid. Willow frequents coffee shops more than she'd like to admit and sits across from hurting people in the hope that they will find help for their pain. She uses china on Wednesdays and loves making the ordinary feel extraordinary. Willow battles insecurity and old wounds every day, just like you probably do too.She collided with Jesus in college, and He became her direction, her healer, her hope, and her rescuer. Jesus met her in her brokenness and has used her there too. She's been married for more than 30 years and has two kids who teach her more about God and life than she could ever teach them. Willow is as real as you get, obsessed with hosting parties, coffee, the beach, and a good, good story.Anchor Verse:Deuteronomy 30:3Connect with Willow:Website: https://www.willowweston.comMinistry Website: https://wecollide.netIG: https://www.instagram.com/willowanneweston***We love hearing from you! In this episode of the Crazy Wisdom podcast, host Stewart Alsop sits down with Kelvin Lwin for their second conversation exploring the fascinating intersection of AI and Buddhist cosmology. Lwin brings his unique perspective as both a technologist with deep Silicon Valley experience and a serious meditation practitioner who's spent decades studying Buddhist philosophy. Together, they examine how AI development fits into ancient spiritual prophecies, discuss the dangerous allure of LLMs as potentially "asura weapons" that can mislead users, and explore verification methods for enlightenment claims in our modern digital age. The conversation ranges from technical discussions about the need for better AI compilers and world models to profound questions about humanity's role in what Lwin sees as an inevitable technological crucible that will determine our collective spiritual evolution. For more information about Kelvin's work on attention training and AI, visit his website at alin.ai. You can also join Kelvin for live meditation sessions twice daily on Clubhouse at clubhouse.com/house/neowise.Timestamps00:00 Exploring AI and Spirituality05:56 The Quest for Enlightenment Verification11:58 AI's Impact on Spirituality and Reality17:51 The 500-Year Prophecy of Buddhism23:36 The Future of AI and Business Innovation32:15 Exploring Language and Communication34:54 Programming Languages and Human Interaction36:23 AI and the Crucible of Change39:20 World Models and Physical AI41:27 The Role of Ontologies in AI44:25 The Asura and Deva: A Battle for Supremacy48:15 The Future of Humanity and AI51:08 Persuasion and the Power of LLMs55:29 Navigating the New Age of TechnologyKey Insights1. The Rarity of Polymath AI-Spirituality Perspectives: Kelvin argues that very few people are approaching AI through spiritual frameworks because it requires being a polymath with deep knowledge across multiple domains. Most people specialize in one field, and combining AI expertise with Buddhist cosmology requires significant time, resources, and academic background that few possess.2. Traditional Enlightenment Verification vs. Modern Claims: There are established methods for verifying enlightenment claims in Buddhist traditions, including adherence to the five precepts and overcoming hell rebirth through karmic resolution. Many modern Western practitioners claiming enlightenment fail these traditional tests, often changing the criteria when they can't meet the original requirements.3. The 500-Year Buddhist Prophecy and Current Timing: We are approximately 60 years into a prophesied 500-year period where enlightenment becomes possible again. This "startup phase of Buddhism revival" coincides with technological developments like the internet and AI, which are seen as integral to this spiritual renaissance rather than obstacles to it.4. LLMs as UI Solution, Not Reasoning Engine: While LLMs have solved the user interface problem of capturing human intent, they fundamentally cannot reason or make decisions due to their token-based architecture. The technology works well enough to create illusion of capability, leading people down an asymptotic path away from true solutions.5. The Need for New Programming Paradigms: Current AI development caters too much to human cognitive limitations through familiar programming structures. True advancement requires moving beyond human-readable code toward agent-generated languages that prioritize efficiency over human comprehension, similar to how compilers already translate high-level code.6. AI as Asura Weapon in Spiritual Warfare: From Buddhist cosmological perspective, AI represents an asura (demon-realm) tool that appears helpful but is fundamentally wasteful and disruptive to human consciousness. Humanity exists as the battleground between divine and demonic forces, with AI serving as a weapon that both sides employ in this cosmic conflict.7. 2029 as Critical Convergence Point: Multiple technological and spiritual trends point toward 2029 as when various systems will reach breaking points, forcing humanity to either transcend current limitations or be consumed by them. This timing aligns with both technological development curves and spiritual prophecies about transformation periods.

How do very small galaxies form? What's going on inside them? And what happens when black holes collide? To find out, Dr. Charles Liu and co-host Allen Liu welcome astrophysicist and “Galaxy Detective” Dr. Charlotte Olsen from New York City College of Technology – and you can call her Chuck, too! As always, though, we start off with the day's joyfully cool cosmic thing, the latest announcement from LIGO about the detection of a gravitational wave event in 2023 from the loudest collision we've heard so far. In this case, the wave was caused by the collision of two black holes that created one new black hole about 60x the mass of our Sun and released an entire sun's worth of energy. Charlotte explains why there are many black hole collisions going on, and how LIGO detections are now being combined with data from other gravitational wave detectors to give us more precise measurements. You'll also hear about Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs) and their negative impact on Charlotte's research. Charlotte talks about what she looks for in her research, and why it all comes down to “wanting to see more photons” to better validate her modeling. Our first question from the audience comes from Joe, who asks, “What does it mean for the Milky Way to have a bar? Why does it have a bar? And how can such a long bar form?” It turns out that many spiral galaxies like ours have bars, and Charlotte explains a little about bar structure. She brings up the current debate about the stability of these bars, and points out that they actually come in slightly different configurations and that star formation at the ends of the bar has an impact, too. Unlike previous thinking, these bars can develop earlier in galactic evolution and can last a very long time. In other words, as Charlotte puts it, “The bar is always open.” Next, Chuck asks what got Charlotte into astronomy. She describes the inspiration she drew from both the dark skies of Northern California, where she grew up, and from the science fiction she read. She shares a few of her “million and one jobs” she did, including her stint as a bassist in a band. That tees up our next audience question, from Shivani, who asks, “How do you mix music and science? I can't decide if I want to be a scientist or a musician someday – can I be both?” Yes, Charlotte says, and explains why doing both might actually be better. She talks about the value of music, and passion, and hobbies that are more than just hobbies, as well as some of the live music she's been seeing in Brooklyn, Long Island and Queens. Finally, Chuck asks Charlotte about the current passion project she's working on. She tells us how she's looking at a handful of galaxies in multiple wavelengths and comparing them to each other to figure out “what's going on under the hood.” If you'd like to know more about Charlotte, you can connect with her on Bluesky at @charlotteeureka.bsky.social or on her GitHub page charlotteolsen.github.io.
