Parley Dutson tells his story from inside the Central Utah Correctional Facility in Gunnison Utah. Thanks to the UDC for allowing us access to hear how Parley, and many others, are working to change their direction and perspective preparing them for the time they will be released. He was born and raised in a religious community called Colorado City. Finding himself an outcast, he discovered “the world”. Going from a strict religious world to the total freedoms of life didn't work well for him. After two years of running and gunning, he committed a horrible act that was completely against his nature that sent him to prison for a very long time. He tells of the anguish he feels for what he did and how in spite of that, has found value in education and self-improvement. Currently serving as a mentor in the Captain Your Story lifestyle curriculum, Parley is a leader in the criminal Justice reform space having had the opportunity to testify virtually to the Utah State Legislature as well as meet with a state senator Derrin Ownes and executive director Brian Redd of the UDC. Parley's emotion can easily be heard as he tells his heart wrenching story. I'm declaring this week Up-and-Coming Young Artist Week. I sat down with a couple of relatively young muralists recently who have a lot of spirit, and I think you'll enjoy hearing their stories. This episode features 17-year-old Maddie Deiters. Despite being only 17, Maddie has painted thousands of square feet of murals in multiple states. She's a go-getter! What I took from this is that there is no minimum age to start painting and making art into a profitable career. Maddie applied and was accepted into her first mural job at 13. This chat made me think of how much supportive family and friends play a part in those early years of creating. External influences either push you into or out of the art world. This is a very real look into what can happen when we support our children's interests early on. Let me know what you think of this week's episode with Maddie Deiters.www.MuralMoney.comwww.ArtistAcademy.co

This episode has been a long time coming. Ive briefly mentioned in previous episodes that I graduated high school early.. but Ive never really talked in depth about my experience or explained what "doubling up" even means. It was this time last year when I sat down with my counselor and officially changed my schedule to become a senior and double up in classes. In honor of last year, I thought now was the perfect time to explain a few things.... In this episode, Im going to be talking all about graduating early. Ill be sharing my tips on what steps you can take to graduate early ( if this is something you are interested in), share and de-bunk some misconceptions, and also talk about the Pro's and Con's of graduating high school in three years. Last but not least, Im going to share my overall experience with being in school and the few mindset shifts Ive had. Also, It's important to note that every state has different rules and requirements for graduation. There are also different factors ( credits, what classes you have/ have not took, grades etc..) that determine if you can graduate early. Anyways, this episode is all about my high school experience and graduating in 3 years. Enjoy
Educate them about credit: Teach your kids about credit, including the importance of responsible credit management, how credit scores work, and the impact of credit on their financial future. Ensure they understand the responsibilities and potential pitfalls of using credit.Add them as an authorized user: Consider adding your child as an authorized user on one of your credit cards. As authorized users, they can benefit from the positive payment history associated with that account. However, make sure you monitor their spending and set clear guidelines to avoid misuse.Encourage responsible credit behavior: Encourage your kids to develop responsible credit habits by making small purchases and paying off the balance in full each month. This will help them establish a positive credit history and demonstrate their ability to manage credit responsibly.Co-sign a loan: If your child needs to take out a loan, you can co-sign the loan to increase their chances of approval and potentially secure a lower interest rate. However, remember that co-signing makes you equally responsible for the debt, so be cautious and ensure your child is committed to repaying the loan.Help them open a secured credit card: A secured credit card is a good option for those with limited credit history. Your child can open a secured credit card by making a cash deposit that acts as collateral. By using the card responsibly and making timely payments, they can build credit over time.Monitor their credit: Regularly monitor your child's credit report to ensure there are no errors or fraudulent activities. Encourage them to review their credit report annually as well.Promote financial responsibility: Emphasize the importance of financial responsibility, such as maintaining a budget, paying bills on time, and avoiding excessive debt. These habits will contribute to their overall financial health and improve their creditworthiness.Remember, building credit takes time, and it's crucial to start early. Encourage your kids to be patient and diligent in managing their credit. By following these steps, they can establish a solid credit foundation, increasing their chances of qualifying for a mortgage when the time comes to buy a home.tune in and learn more at https://www.ddamortgage.com/blogDidier Malagies nmls#212566DDA Mortgage nmls#324329 Support the show

Languages, math, science, geography, history... What are the most basic things you feel every student should be taught before they graduate high school? Could your kids: - Name the Governor General? - Name the PM? - Name your province's Premier? - How many of the Great Lakes could they name? - Where is Hudson Bay? - In which province or provinces would you find the Rocky Mountains? - Could they name all of the oceans that Canada touches? - Do they know Canada has had a female prime minister? Could they name her? - Do they know the zipper was invented here? The caulking gun, the paint roller? The Robertson screwdriver? Basketball? The telephone? - Do they know what signal hill is? www.itsyourcall.ca - live weekdays 2pm ET on www.BlastTheRadio.com

His favorite directors were (and still are) Hitchcock, DePalma, Carpenter, and William Castle. Swan worked in broadcasting starting at the age of 16. Graduating High School he went to join the circus for one season, returning to broadcasting where he announced, wrote and produced commercials. Swan has called himself the most famous person that no one has ever heard of with tongue in cheek. Dabbling in television, movies, and the stage, he claims to have fulfilled most of his childhood dreams. He did not write his first novel until 2007 and it took four years to complete. Since then, he has written 18 and continues to write. Winslow Swan currently lives in the North Georgia Mountains with his five dogs. ************************************************ For More Information Visit our Website: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/ ©2022

Part II to my fascinating interview with Olga. Here, Olga reflects on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, a humanitarian crisis about which, sadly, the western world is quickly forgetting. As an American born in Russia, her perspective is invaluable. You'll not want to miss what she has to say.
Upon her graduation from high school, when, with unalloyed excitement, most young men and women look hopefully toward the future, Olga's home country of Russia—in whose greatness and infallibility she was, from a very young age, propagandized to believe—collapsed. All that she'd known, every doctrine whose truth she'd been conditioned to accept, disintegrated before her eyes. She immigrated to America at the age of twenty. She reflects now on the state of Russia and its aggression toward Ukraine, What follows is her story.

When a high school senior walks across the stage to receive their diploma, it often feels like they are taking their first steps into adulthood. Jackie Peña planned to speak on that stage and pour her heart out to all the other students. She says she is “the first [in my family] to graduate in the top 10 of my class. So graduation for me was kind of like my perfect dream.”For the Class of 2020, however, that milestone ended up feeling very different. Proms were canceled, party plans altered and traditional graduation ceremonies were delayed and held in new socially distant ways. Despite the changes, principals, teachers, and school leaders worked tirelessly to ensure that their high school seniors' accomplishments were celebrated. In our third episode of IntersectEd, hosted by Raise Your Hand Texas’ Alejandro Izaguirre, we will hear from several members of the Class of 2020 in Houston about how school closures and emergency remote learning impacted their final semester of high school. School leaders and educators will also share the ways they tried to help these seniors navigate their final days of high school in the midst of a global pandemic.

He gives some inspiring and practical advice, that not only will serve them well in their journey into the big wide world and adulthood, but also provides us all with some inspiration and reflection as we begin a brand new year. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Need a business coach? Larsen Thompson is not your average teenager—this 16-year-old is a sophomore in high school who also happens to model, dance, and star in music videos with Katy Perry. But while she may hang out with mega stars and have the most incredible hair we’ve ever seen, she’s as down-to-earth as any regular teen. We sat down with her for this week’s episode of #CFofficehours to chat about how she handles life on the road, how she got her start, and her big plans for the future. Listen up for some serious inspiration from a girl who’s reaching her goals before graduating high school.
