Greetings and welcome! This is our daily devotional for March 23, 2026. Today, we continue our series on Matthew in Chapter 20, where Jesus healed two blind men who saw so much! Both before and after they were healed. Thanks for joining us!
The Rev. Michael McGhee preached on John 9:1–13, 28–41 on the Fourth Sunday in Lent on March 15th.
Tom Logue - March 15th 2025 Desperation gets God's attention—because Jesus is deeply compassionate and powerful to heal. This week, Tom continues our King & His Kingdom series in Matthew 20:29–34, where Jesus encounters two blind men sitting along the road as He leaves Jericho on His way to Jerusalem. These men—beggars and social outcasts—cry out repeatedly, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” Even when the crowd tries to silence them, their desperation only grows louder. Their story reveals a powerful truth: even imperfect faith, when placed in Jesus, can bring us into contact with His grace. Tom contrasts the desperate faith of the blind men with the crowd following Jesus. While the blind men cry out for mercy in their affliction, the crowd attempts to quiet them. It's a reminder that followers of Jesus aren't perfect—sometimes we get in the way of what God wants to do. Instead of silencing desperation, Tom challenges the church to support it, recognizing that many people among us are carrying deep afflictions and need the freedom to cry out to God. The sermon presses into an uncomfortable reality: when we face pain or unmet needs, we often try to hide our afflictions or medicate them—through distraction, entertainment, substances, or busyness—instead of bringing them honestly to Jesus. The blind men model a better response. They refuse to stay silent and cry out for mercy until Jesus stops. And when He does, the text says He is moved with compassion, a deep gut-level response that leads Him to act. Jesus touches their eyes, heals them, and immediately they follow Him. Tom closes with a defining statement about what it means to be a Christian: followers of Jesus are people who have been touched by Jesus. They're not just people who believe certain ideas about Him—they're people whose lives have been changed by His mercy and who now follow Him because they've experienced His grace. The invitation of this message is simple and powerful: bring your afflictions to Jesus. Cry out for mercy. He is compassionate, He is King, and one touch from Him can change everything. The Big Unlock · Jonathan Bush, Founder & CEO, Zus Health In this episode, Jonathan Bush, Founder & CEO of Zus Health, shares a bold vision for the next phase of healthcare transformation. Drawing on decades of experience, Jonathan argues that while EHR adoption is largely complete, today's systems remain fee-for-service–oriented, creating fragmented views of patients – what he describes as the “blind men and the elephant” problem. The result: clinicians still lack a complete, longitudinal picture of the patient and rely on repeated tests and “bags full of records.” Jonathan explains how Zus Health is re-architecting healthcare data by creating a longitudinal, always-on common patient record. Zus is an API-first platform built on an AI-enabled backbone that aggregates, structures, and continuously updates data across multiple EMRs. He emphasizes the power of network effects, where shared intelligence can eliminate redundant tests and unnecessary care. The conversation also explores why interoperability must move beyond regulatory compliance to become core infrastructure for value-based care, and how AI-driven summarization and agentic workflows can reduce clinician burden while enabling proactive, patient-centered care. Take a listen.

As we heard, Jesus calls His disciples to Himself. He speak about greatness in the kingdom of heaven. As His own examples shows us, He came not to be served to serve and to give His life a ransom for many. Paul would write in 1st Timothy 2:6 of our saviour, the man Christ Jesus, as being "a ransom for all". Jesus next shows us His servant's heart of compassion by opening the eyes of two blind men sitting outside of Jericho. These two men had loud enough voices to overcome the noise of the crowds who were telling them to be quiet. These men had persistence and faith in Jesus as the Son of David.Dr. Mitchell show us in the Gospel of John that we can pray to the Father Himself, who loves us, in Jesus name. On the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, here is Matthew 20:25-34 with Dr. Mitchell.

Sunday Evening Sermon
After Jesus raised the daughter of Jairus, the synagogue official, then two blind men, following the Lord, were crying out loud for mercy from the Son of David. This is the title given the Messiah in the O.T. which our author, Matthew, also wrote in the first verse of this gospel.Dr. Mitchell reminds us that Jesus said in Luke 4:18 that He was anointed to proclaim recovery of sight to the blind and to set at liberty, those who are oppressed. The Savior did both of these things and they are written here in this passage before us, Matthew 9:27-35. So Jesus once again proves His Messiahship. The Lord proclaimed the gospel of the kingdom. Today we proclaim the gospel of the grace of God which is Jesus Christ and Him crucified, buried, raised and appearing. Here is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Matthew 9:27-35.

Our sermon this Sunday was called “Two Blind Men”. In Acts 9:1-18, we will see the radical conversion of a Christ-hating Pharisee named Saul of Tarsus. The conversion is so stunning that Ananias, a relatively anonymous Christ-loving disciple at Damascus, has trouble getting his head around it. Yet, Christ chose Ananias to be the very instrument he wanted to bring Saul to Christ and to commission Saul for the mission of the gospel. Here is something that we perpetually need to get our heads and hearts around: Unlikely people are used by Christ to save unlikely people and to set them on mission for the gospel. Christ purposely chooses the nobodies of this world to advance the kingdom of His Son. 1 Corinthians 1:27-29 reveals how this shaped Paul's understanding of how God does his mission: “But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human might boast in the presence of God.” Do you actually believe this? Do you believe that Christ uses weak and broken people and nobodies to advance his eternal kingdom? Does it excite you? Does it make you expect the unexpected to happen? Come this Sunday as we watch God work His weird and wonderful way of salvation to the surprise of two completely unsuspecting men. May it cause us to rejoice at God's ways and to begin to expect God to do the unexpected in and through our lives. See you Sunday. Bring a friend. God is so good! In Christ, Kevin Dibbley, Senior Pastor

The miracles of Jesus remind us of His great power. They also remind us of His great mercy and compassion. In our study, we consider two blind men who knew a lot about Jesus. While they couldn't physically see, their eyes of faith changed their lives. Grab a cup of coffee and open up your Bible as we study from God's word! Send us a Text Message. We all know "in the beginning, there was darkness," right? The first line of the first book of the Old Testament (AKA the Torah). But did you know, there was also “chaos and void”? And then, of course, God created everything. So we're told. Inspired by the places where "creation" began, Rabbi Adina Allen has made a life and a practice of understanding how all creation and creativity–whether art, new understandings, or life itself–comes from darkness, chaos and void, and how these acts of creation heal us. In her book, "The Place Of All Possibility," Rabbi Allen blends creativity, Torah study, and the open studio art therapy approach she learned at her mother's Open Studio Project to offer a practical guide to inspired creative practice. But, like this show, the book is not for people of a single tradition or faith, it's to demystify for and offer to all of us how curiosity, wonder, joy, creativity and healing are accessible, and challenge us to see that when we wrestle with darkness, ideas we already hold, or texts, or artwork, or family or the divisiveness and polarization of a moment, we can find something new in them, and in ourselves, and maybe even start to heal.GLOSSARYShechinah: Also transliterated "Shekhinah," Hebrew for "dwelling" or "settling."
