The Gauntlet Reading Club puts together characters for our run of Alas for the Awful Sea inspired by PG Willow Wilson and Christian Ward's Invisible Kingdom. We are introduced to a mysterious ship's surgeon named Maze (played by Donogh), mismatched members of stellar diaspora Zarza and Panax (played by Dana and Ben), and Mx Blyss (played by Chet) a wayward member of the Relinquishment. The crew is thrown into action as the ship is damaged and the captain injured. The team close in on the smugglers but it feels like the island is also closing in on them...
The Tethys discovers its tragic destiny in a city lifted from the ocean's floor; Eva has a reckoning; Charlotte confronts a god; Enoch attempts rescues; Mr. Fyfe decides where his loyalties lie.
The Tethys visits Pitcairn island and encounters the Jezebel again.
With the captain incapacitated, Mr. Fyfe leads the ship to the uncharted island that has been their destination; Eva makes a friend; and a Mr. K once again interferes with the destiny of Kingsport.
The Tethys receives a mysterious message, prompting the captain to set course for the middle of nowhere.

Tensions rise as mysterious forces continue to work on the crews of the Tethys and the Charity; Joe attempts a rescue; Forbes meets a stranger; James struggles to keep order; Charlotte receives a terrifying command.
The Tethys limps into Valparaiso harbor; Forbes Greenwood and Mason Black join the crew; Captain Goodwin makes a deal with Captain Houston of the Charity; James is promoted; Joe is credulous; ; a mysterious creature makes its presence known.
Oren and his kin try to take over the Tethys during a tremendous storm off of Cape Horn; Charlotte searches for her gods; Carlito battles an otherworldly being; Olivia gets another chance.
The Tethys finally sets out on its mission. The Captain and Bill understand each other; Ali goes through a terrifying ritual; Joe makes himself known; Olivia grows closer to Ali; and the crew encounters the unfortunate vessel Heureux.
