Coach Tory and Coach Don preview and record Everything Fast Pitch episode 409 via Zoom, highlighting a listener-driven show and thanking supporters on patreon.com/everythingfastpitch. In the warmup “Did You Know,” they note three Division I undefeated teams at the time of recording—Tennessee, Florida, and Alabama—and discuss SEC strength and ongoing top-team dominance. The city of the week is Huntsville, Alabama, with mention of strong softball in the area, UAH's Division II success, and local universities. Player of the week is Bronwyn Conroy (College of Charleston), recognized as rookie of the week after a standout week including five runs, nine hits, three RBIs, and multiple stolen bases; they share Don's prior familiarity with her and invite more nominations via email. The equipment tip promotes Square Cuts training discs (FastPitchPrep.com), priced at $49.95 per dozen, with YouTube demos and varied uses beyond hitting. A listener question asks how transfers, extra eligibility, and NIL may shift Division I recruiting; they agree programs increasingly prioritize proven portal players while still pursuing elite high school recruits, and discuss pressure to win, scholarship changes, and financial strains on athletic departments. In the leadoff segment, they debate travel ball teams advertising “non-parent coaches,” arguing it doesn't guarantee fairness or quality and that many parent coaches are highly committed, while paid non-parent coaches can still have biases. In the cleanup segment, they address an 8U team rotating players every inning, supporting multi-position development but recommending more consistent innings/roles so players can learn from mistakes. The coaching tip focuses on helping players choose the right bat (length/weight), discouraging gimmicky sizing formulas and knee-jerk changes based on short-term results, and recommending the longest/heaviest bat a player can swing with good bat speed and control, while noting the cost and rapid outgrowing of expensive bats.Support the show

Episode #492: Wong Chen, a Malaysian Member of Parliament active in international relations as Malaysia held the ASEAN chair, argues that the Myanmar crisis will not be resolved through moral appeals, symbolic diplomacy, or repeated Western advocacy alone. He maintains that the Myanmar military is far more resilient than many outsiders assume and largely unmoved by external condemnation. In his view, meaningful progress will come only when the junta faces real leverage generated by coordinated internal resistance, supported by pragmatic regional engagement. Without such pressure, he suggests, dialogue risks becoming performative and ultimately serving the military's interests. Wong Chen situates this argument in Malaysia's 2025 experience leading ASEAN, a consensus-based organization with a rotating annual chair. When Malaysia assumed the role, he initially felt optimistic, given Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's human rights reputation and ASEAN's existing Five-Point Consensus on Myanmar. That optimism faded as Malaysia adopted what Wong Chen describes as “pragmatic engagement” with both the junta and resistance groups. While he accepts that communication with all parties is unavoidable, he stresses its asymmetric effects because the junta is not a good-faith actor. For example, junta-controlled media reframes such meetings as “recognition,” even when this is far from the case. He also argues that ASEAN's institutional design undermines long-term crisis management. Unlike short, bilateral disputes ASEAN has mediated successfully, Myanmar requires sustained, multi-year engagement. Rotating chairs shift operational control to new national bureaucracies, reset personnel and priorities, and prevent the accumulation of institutional memory. The junta exploits these recurring reset points by re-litigating settled issues and using the sheer quantity of engagements to claim legitimacy. Wong Chen therefore calls for a permanent, well-resourced ASEAN mechanism dedicated to Myanmar, one that is not affected despite the changes inherent in the rotating chair. Beyond ASEAN, Wong Chen identifies China as the pivotal external actor, motivated less by ideology than by stability and trade. As long as Myanmar's opposition remains fragmented, Wong Chen points out that China will usually default to dealing with the junta. He criticizes the National Unity Government for strategic stagnation, internal rigidity, and overreliance on Western moral appeals, urging greater unity, clearer goals, and stronger use of diaspora resources. While cautiously optimistic that geopolitical shifts—potentially involving U.S.–China rivalry and even unconventional actors like Donald Trump—could create openings, Wong Chen ultimately places responsibility on Myanmar's resistance and opposition to unify around a shared vision and leadership in order to create the leverage needed to force a resolution. External actors can assist, he says, but “you have to do it yourself.”

About Rehoboth & Josh & Jessica:This was a really fun tour. The farm has an interesting backstory. It was initially just a backyard chicken hobbyist farm, and then after feeding themselves and friends, they saw the health impact and the localized food impact - then began trading meat for land access. Josh spent years during 2015-18 waiting for the right property top open up, with multiple failed attempts, before securing the current farm in 2018. They launched full-time in 2019, saw rapid growth during 2020 with that demand spike, and then developed the farm into what it is today, a regenerative grazing operation and direct-to-consumer product platform. Neither Joss or Jessica grew up farming, but health concerns, lack of localized food option and expense of quality food triggered their shift to farming. They have a faith-driven vision for the farm, and “Rehoboth” means “God made room”. Jessica leads customer engagement, and Josh leads the systems and operations on the farm. You can connect to Josh and Jessica via the links below:WebsiteInstagramKey topics & Timestamps:00:00:00 Tractor use and cutting pasture for regrowth 00:01:00 Turkey shipping losses and hatchery challenges 00:03:00 Why turkey poults are fragile in the brooder 00:04:00 Thanksgiving turkey pickup on farm 00:05:00 Broiler setup and water system improvements 00:08:30 Compost piles and feeding pumpkins to livestock 00:10:30 Rotating pigs and natural mineral foraging 00:14:00 Outdoor pig genetics vs confinement genetics 00:22:00 Moving broilers to build soil nitrogen 00:24:00 Multi-species grazing and parasite management

Pro Investor David Erfle reveals how he is playing the Mexican silver miners. In light of Vizsla Silver's mine workers who were kidnapped and killed by the cartel recently, are Mexican silver miners a buy, sell or hold? David shares what he sold and what he is holding. He also provides commentary on the precious metals prices and junior mining sector. David Erfle is a self-taught mining sector investor. He stumbled upon the mining space in 2003 as he was looking to invest into a growing sector of the market. After researching the gains made from the 2001 bottom in the tiny gold and silver complex, he became fascinated with this niche market. So much so that in 2005 he decided to sell his home and invest the entire proceeds from the sale into junior mining companies. When his account had tripled by September, 2007, he decided to quit his job as the Telecommunications Equipment Buyer at UCLA and make investing in this sector his full-time job. David founded the Junior Miner Junky subscription-based newsletter in April, 2017 and writes a weekly column for precious metals news service Kitco.com, whose website attracts nearly a million visits every day. Productivity advice rarely works for ADHD brains, not because you're lazy or undisciplined, but because most systems are built for neurotypical consistency. In this episode of Adulting with ADHD, Sarah talks with Robert Simms, founder of Embodied Resilience Wellness Clinic, registered social worker, Indigenous practitioner, and neurodivergent adult, about designing home and money systems that actually work with your brain, not against it. Robert shares how discovering his own neurodivergence later in life reshaped how he approaches routines, finances, and daily structure. Instead of relying on motivation, discipline, or "just try harder," he explains how neuro affirming systems focus on variability, interest, energy fluctuations, and external supports. They explore why traditional productivity advice often fails ADHD adults, and how small environmental tweaks, not willpower, create sustainable change. In this episode, we talk about: What "neuro affirming" actually means in daily life Why consistency doesn't work the way we think it should Externalizing executive function with reminders, automation, and visual cues Removing shame and guilt from missed tasks and imperfect follow through Designing systems around strengths like hyperfocus and pattern recognition Why "inconsistently consistent" is a realistic goal Robert also shares practical home and money hacks, including: Set it and forget it bill automation when financially safe to do so Simplifying bank accounts and credit cards to reduce overwhelm Creating small financial buffers for predictable emergencies Using visible, contained systems for everyday items like keys, wallets, and kids' clutter The five minute rule for task initiation Rotating routines instead of abandoning them when interest drops One of the most powerful reframes in this conversation: your home should function like an accommodation. If the outside world isn't built for your brain, your personal systems can be. Neuro affirming systems are not about doing more. They are about building support structures that match how your brain actually works, with flexibility, compassion, and less shame. What if the flashy carbon-plated shoe you just bought is actually slowing you down on your daily runs? Most runners think getting faster starts with buying better shoes, but the real shift happens when you understand which shoes to buy, when to buy them, and how each one fits into your training. In this episode, I break down a simple three-tier system that helps you run stronger, lower injury risk, and stop wasting money on hype pairs that don't match your current fitness. You'll walk away knowing how to structure your shoe rotation, when to upgrade, and how to use each pair with intention so every run feels smoother and more purposeful.Key TakeawaysMost runners buy shoes in the wrong order and end up wasting money on pairs they rarely use. Starting with the right everyday shoe builds comfort, durability, and consistency first.Rotating different types of shoes helps reduce injury risk because each pair stresses the body in a slightly different way. It's not about one perfect shoe, it's about having the right mix.Speed and race shoes should only come after you've built mileage and consistency. Saving them for key workouts and race day keeps them effective and extends their lifespan.Timestamps[00:26] What You'll Learn[01:16] The Mistake[01:59] The Science[02:32] The 3 Running Shoes You Need[04:15] Know What Shoe to Use on Each Run[05:12] Second Shoe You Add: The Fun One[06:32] Third and Last Shoe You Buy: The Weapon[08:11] The Brand Examples[09:03] Use This to Pick the Right Shoes for Your Next Training BlockLinks & Learnings

Rotating group performs monthly at Savage Wonder Scroll down the page of gig posters at the Jazzwomen! website and you'll notice Kim Peralta appears in each one. As the ensemble's founder and drummer, she's guaranteed a gig. "I formed the group so I could play with high-caliber musicians, which helps improve my playing," she says. "I book the dates and provide enough rhythmic reinforcement that they show up." Peralta has established a third Thursday residency at Savage Wonder in Beacon (the next one is Feb. 19) and will perform at Estilo Y Vino in May. The members are booked up for Women's History Month, so they're skipping the March date at Savage Wonder and will return on April 16. Peralta assembled a roster of 14 musicians, some of whom have played with Lionel Hampton, Dizzy Gillespie and Wynton Marsalis. Saxophonist Kate Anderson toured with The Temptations and The Four Tops and bass player Jennifer Vincent has performed with k.d. lang and Patti LaBelle. In addition to playing jazz piano, Heather Bennett is the organist and music director at a New Jersey church. Ellie Lee describes herself as a "bold, fiery artist" who "composes in a variety of styles, including jazz, classical, pop and gospel." Peralta began recruiting pianists, saxophonists and bass players in 2023. Sax whiz Jenny Hill adds flute to her arsenal, and Rachel Therrien, who has worked with Arturo O'Farrill, is the sole trumpeter. Peralta selects the lineups for each gig like a baseball manager. The basic combo is a piano trio (with bass and drums), though adding a saxophone expands the sonic palette; Therrien once rounded out a quintet. The players are so accomplished that Peralta needs only to compile a set list and, if necessary, provide lead sheets. As the exclamation point indicates, Jazzwomen! wants to make a statement. In addition to originals, the group performs compositions by Alice Coltrane and Dorothy Ashby. "Melba Liston played trombone with the best of them, and Mary Lou Williams wrote 500 songs," says Peralta, who referenced as inspiration the National Public Radio show, "Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz," which the English-born musician and educator hosted from 1978 to 2011. Now known as "Piano Jazz" (McPartland died in 2013), it is NPR's longest-running cultural program. The gig posters online also include likenesses of Mike Aiese, who does not match the profile. But Peralta notes that there is a general shortage of bass players, so he sat in at Savage Wonder last month and will do so again next week. At the January show, sax player Maria Lazzaro emitted a furious flurry of notes during "In a Mellow Tone," before displaying her tonal command with bluesy slurs that lifted the classic "On Green Dolphin Street." Pianist Janice Friedman played trills like a heavy metal guitarist. Performing together for the first time, the two musicians engaged in a gentle cutting contest. Often at jazz concerts, the bass player gets a break or two, but Aiese took flight on all but one tune. Peralta kept it simple on her compact kit. Even though Aiese walked, vamped and played solid solos, Peralto says she is always on the lookout to replace him, which he understands. "It's magical to perform with all women," she says. "It's hard to describe, but it's special." Savage Wonder is located at 139 Main St. in Beacon. The Feb. 19 performance, which begins at 8 p.m., is free, but tickets are required. https://jo.my/k7u1jrThe Most Common Hand Injuries And CausesYour hands are your most valuable tools. In a warehouse, they're constantly at risk. From sharp edges to pinch points and fast-moving machinery, one wrong move can lead to serious injury. That's why this week, we're focusing on hand safety—and more specifically, how to avoid cuts, pinches, and caught-in hazards. Most hand injuries don't come out of nowhere. They build up from small oversights. Grabbing debris without gloves. Reaching into a jammed conveyor. Wearing a loose hoodie near a rotating shaft. These aren't just bad habits—they're dangerous ones. The goal is simple: protect your hands before an injury forces you to stop using them. Here are a few ways to keep your hands out of harm's way:1. Watch for pinch, crush, and cut points.Anywhere metal moves, shifts, or presses—assume there's a danger zone. Conveyor rollers, dock plates, loading bays, lift gates. Keep your hands out unless you've locked out the equipment and confirmed it's safe.2. Never clear jams by hand.Tempting? Sure. But that shortcut can cost you fingers. Use proper lockout/tagout procedures. And always use tools—not hands—to remove material that's stuck or jammed.3. Skip the loose clothing and jewelry. That oversized hoodie, drawstring, or metal watch? It might seem harmless—until it catches on a rotating shaft or pallet jack chain. Keep sleeves snug and accessories off the floor.4. Stay alert around moving parts.Rotating belts. Chain drives. Live rollers. These parts don't stop just because you're nearby. Give machinery space, even if it looks idle. Always assume it could start back up.5. Don't ignore small cuts or blisters.Even minor scrapes can turn into infections or worse if untreated. Clean and cover wounds. Report them. Letting a small cut fester is never the smart move.As always, these are potential tips. Please be sure to follow the rules and regulations of your specific facility.A strong safety culture isn't built on luck. It's built on small decisions, repeated daily. Every time you choose gloves over bare hands, or back away instead of reaching in, you're protecting more than just yourself. You're setting the tone for your whole team.Hand injuries are some of the most common incidents in the warehouse. But here's the thing—they're also some of the most preventable. With awareness, a little patience, and the right habits, you can keep your hands safe and working as hard as you do.Thank you for being part of another episode of Warehouse Safety Tips.Until we meet next time - have a great week, and STAY SAFE!#Safety #SafetyCulture #StaySafe #HandSafety #InjuryPrevention #CaughtInHazards #WorkplaceSafety #StayAlert #HealthAndSafety

From there, they explore the historic surge in gold, silver, and copper, debating whether the move reflects fear, underweight positioning, or simple momentum.Matty and Ryan also explain why crypto may be the most mispriced asset class right now, how upcoming regulation could unlock institutional capital, and why volatility is the price investors pay for long-term returns. The episode wraps with a deep dive into housing market data, revealing one of the strongest buyer's markets on record—and why seller financing opportunities are quietly returning.Topics Covered:S&P 500 nearing the 7,000 milestoneEarnings season and why guidance matters more than headlinesFed rate outlook and Jerome Powell's final meetingPotential impact of future rate cuts on housingU.S. dollar decline and global reserve trendsGold, silver, and copper hitting historic highsRetail vs. institutional behavior in precious metalsCrypto underperformance and rotation potentialUpcoming crypto market structure legislationBuyer's market conditions and seller-finance opportunitiesEpisode Sponsored By:Discover Financial Millionaire Mindcast Shop: Buy the Rich Life Planner and Get the Wealth-Building Bundle for FREE! Heterogeneous2. Sick and living on the edge3. Metabolically inflexible 4. Originates from damaged mitochondria Insulin resistance is one of the most significant contributors to cancer risk. Insulin resistance can lead to metabolic inflexibility. Cancer also migrates to areas of inflammation. Microbiome disruption damages the microbes that protect the body against cancer. Toxicity caused by alcohol, smoking, and pesticides can also increase the risk of cancer. When you combine these risk factors, you significantly increase your risk of developing cancer.Colon cells get their fuel from a compound called butyrate, which is produced when a microbe consumes fiber. Butyrate strengthens the colon's lining, supports its function, and has potent anti-inflammatory properties. Fiber has protective properties against cancer, but if your gut microbiome is compromised, it can make matters worse. The more advanced the cancer you have, the more you'll need to do prolonged fasting. This stresses the cancer cells and deprives them of fuel. The fasting-mimicking diet is also beneficial. If you haven't been diagnosed with cancer, periodic prolonged fasting can help with prevention. High doses of vitamin D3, sun exposure, and oxygen are also protective against cancer. A rotating diet is an incredible tool for cancer prevention. Focus on consuming key nutrients, including vitamin D3, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, polyphenols, turmeric, cruciferous vegetables, herbs, spices, green tea, and fermented vegetables. Dr. Biamonte walks us through the critical relationship between Candida and thyroid issues, elaborating on how it can often be the root cause of many symptoms women struggle with for years before receiving proper care. We discuss the importance of proper sequencing in treatment plans, highlighting why it's beneficial to tackle Candida before addressing heavy metals and other toxins. Dr. Biamonte also reveals why conventional antifungals often fail patients and shares his insights on effective Candida treatments, like rotating antifungals and monitoring progress through innovative urine tests. In addition to tackling Candida, we discuss the role of minerals, especially through Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA), and how it complements understanding and treating Candida overgrowth. Dr. Biamonte also sheds light on maintaining the balance in the gut ecosystem through targeted probiotic use and explains why the Candida diet needs to be low in carbohydrates and sugars. If you or someone you know is struggling with Candida, thyroid issues, or both, this episode offers a wealth of knowledge and hope for effective treatments and better health. Big surprise—after massive gains, some AI stocks have run far ahead. But here's the real takeaway: rotation shouldn't be a headline event. It should be a constant discipline.Chris explains why trimming winners, taking profits, and rebalancing oversized positions isn't bearish—it's smart risk management. AI has driven markets and remains a powerful long-term theme, but no one truly knows which companies will dominate years from now. Admitting what you don't know is what protects capital.Like Mr. Miyagi tending a bonsai tree—cut here, snip there—prudent investors regularly rebalance, redeploy profits, and look for quality companies that are temporarily out of favor. This isn't market timing. It's proper portfolio management, asset allocation, and risk control—the kind that's served investors well for decades.

Cancer is a heterogeneous disease, which means there are many different types. Understanding how cancer works is key to cancer prevention. Cancer tends to spread to areas of inflammation and to regions in the body where oxygen is scarce.Cancer is constantly evading your immune system! Vitamin D is essential for the health and proper functioning of your immune system. Cancer cells tend to block the receptors for vitamin D to combat this. It's beneficial to increase your vitamin D levels to penetrate the resistance created by cancer.Understanding which fuel a specific cancer uses is key to starving cancer. The majority of cancers utilize glucose and glutamine as their primary sources of fuel. Some cancers live on lipids and BCAAs, and some can even live on ketones! Cancer is highly adaptive, so effective cancer prevention requires multiple strategies, including diet rotation and intermittent fasting.Different types of cancer require the removal of different foods from the diet. Rotating the diet and removing the fuel that a specific type of cancer needs to survive prevents cancer from growing and taking over. Healthy Keto paired with intermittent fasting is the best diet for cancer prevention. Prolonged fasting is one of the best things you can do if you have cancer. Although some cancers can survive on ketones, ketones from fasting do not feed cancer cells. To prevent cancer and support the immune system, keep your blood levels of vitamin D at around 90-100 ng/mL. Incorporate regular exercise and prioritize both intermittent and prolonged fasting.Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio:Dr. Berg, age 60, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. At long last, Andy has returned from sea (and air!). He joins Brendan and is fired up off the jump, coming in hot to defend the city of Chicago after last week's "slander." Andy's back just in time for golf's Super Bowl - the Tour Championship at East Lake. Brendan shares some quotes from an Adam Schupak article about the event possibly heading out of Atlanta sometime soon, only to find that Tim Finchem might've promised the event would stay there "in perpetuity." The winner of this week's event, which is now being played without Starting Strokes, will win both the tournament and the FedEx Cup for the 2025 season, unlike Jon Rahm's LIV title that came with zero victories. Rahm compared his win-without-winning to climbing Mt. Everest, sending Brendan off the rails at the preposterousness of that comparison. After running through the Schedule for the Week, Andy and Brendan then get into the 2026 Schedule for the Year after the PGA Tour announced its dates for next season. Trump Doral will host a new Signature Event in May, making it nearly impossible for rookies and those without signature status to play between the Masters and the PGA Championship. In other news, Paul Azinger will receive the Payne Stewart Award this week and Andy has a few questions about how the committee chose him as the 2025 recipient. TGL has announced the start date for its second season, going head-to-head with an NFL Sunday in December. This leads into an NFL Minute to close out this episode - Andy loves what he's seeing from the Bears, Joe Flacco is starting for Brendan's Browns, and PJ is already apathetic about Justin Fields and the Jets.
