What does it really mean to live radically for Jesus? Madi and Grant are back with another episode of Stay True Podcast! This week, they are joined by pastor, author, and missionary David Platt at the Museum of the Bible for a powerful and convicting conversation about what it looks like to live on mission every day: from your neighborhood to the nations. So many of us have shaped the Gospel to fit our cultural preferences by chasing the American dream instead of taking up our cross. But Jesus calls us to something far greater. Together, Madi, Grant, and David talk about what it looks like to leave behind security, convenience, and comfort for the sake of the Gospel and how to live a life that actually reflects what Jesus said His followers would do. This episode challenges you to live set apart, to share the hope of Jesus boldly, and to count the cost of true discipleship. Because following Jesus isn't about fitting in... it's about being transformed and living for what truly matters. Always stay you and stay true! Questions/topics discussed and answered: • What does it really mean to live a "radical" life for Jesus? • How do we fight the pull towards cultural Christianity? • What is the difference between the American Gospel and the Biblical Gospel? • Does every Christian need to go overseas to be a missionary? • What does it mean to be a true follower of Jesus? Over the centuries, the word faith has accumulated layers of meaning—some helpful, others deeply misleading. In this first of two lessons, we begin to peel back those layers and rediscover what faith meant in the biblical world. Today, many view faith as blind belief or intellectual agreement with abstract propositions. But in the world of the Bible, faith was far more concrete. Rooted in the Hebrew verb 'aman—from which we get words like amen, truth, steadfast, and established—faith was about trust that leads to action. It was confidence in God's character, not certainty in theological formulas. This lesson explores how the modern church's language around faith has drifted from its biblical foundation, and why returning to the ancient understanding can radically transform our walk with God. We may say we “have faith” in Jesus as Messiah, but do we have the kind of faith that trusts him enough to forgive our enemies, love our neighbors, and walk in the ways that lead to the peace of God? Join us as we rethink what it really means to have faith—and how that rethinking can shape the way we live. -------------------------------------------------------------- www.figtreeteaching.com Join the Fig Tree Coffee Club: https://www.figtreeteaching.com/store/p3/Fig_Tree_Coffee_Club.html Support Fig Tree Ministries: https://donorbox.org/support-figtree-ministries Fig Tree Amazon Portal: https://amzn.to/3USMelI Lesson Handout: https://www.figtreeteaching.com/blog/is-your-faith-just-belief-thats-not-biblical Article - Rethinking Faith (PDF) https://www.figtreeteaching.com/uploads/1/1/9/7/119763168/fig_tree_ministries_rethinking_faith.pdf YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/8SDZ9VHqdCA

John and Lisa Bevere are prominent figures in contemporary Christian ministry, known for their passionate teachings, bestselling books, and global outreach through their organization, Messenger International. Supporters highlight the Bevere's sincerity, relatability, and commitment to core Christian truths like salvation through Christ, while critics argue they promote extra-biblical revelation and prophecy, straying from Scripture. So what's the truth? Are the Bevere's committed to teaching "core Christian truths like salvation through Christ"? What do the Beveres teach? Do they proclaim the Biblical Gospel or something else? After 5 months of research, watching and reading what they teach, I wanted to present what I have learned and answer the question I often hear... "What's so wrong with the Bevere's?"May this episode expose the false teaching in the church, point to Scripture to be thoroughly equipped for every good work, and bring glory to God.
