Here we go again! This week we're discussing the new Monsanto pesticide verdict as well as taking a somewhat deep-dive into their history, as well as putting our *expletive* government under the microscope. I am just as sick of this as you are, the horrors seem to just seep out of the corporate and bureaucratic fabric of our lives. Thank you for joining me in this week's communal Schauer, I understand if you need to be alone after this. Let me reiterate my point for all who cover their ears to nuance: I am by no means saying that any of these chemicals are the SOLE cause of any chronic disorder, chronic disease, or medical condition. What I AM saying is that these chemicals, untested and unchecked, are sure as *bleep* not helping literally anyone's health in any substantial way. Please feel free to run all of this by a licensed medical professional and relative experts for more information or clarification. This was not mentioned in the video but since a lot (NOTE: that “a lot” does not mean “all”) of doctors are complicit in the abuses of the healthcare system, I would also like to suggest these resources. Research all federal investigations against any hospital: https://www.hospitalinspections.org/ Research financial relationships between drug & medical device companies and healthcare providers: https://openpaymentsdata.cms.gov/ For all the medical professionals out there fighting the good fight, love that, thank you. I, personally, do not *in general* distrust *most* doctors as if I did I wouldn't have read half these books or like my PCP as much - but you must understand, there are some really awful medical providers out there and in order to change a broken system we have to acknowledge that point. In this episode, songwriter and vocalist Peter Stuart discusses the writing and recording of the hit 1996 single from Dog's Eye View, “Everything Falls Apart.” Written quickly (and with a hangover) after a disappointing meeting with a potential producer, the song describes a young Peter's tendency to be his own worst enemy. Torpedoing his own life for excitement may have been a subconscious way of coming up with good subject matter for his lyrics, and fortunately in this instance, it worked. Tune in for a simultaneously inspiring and entertaining look into the creation of this mid-90s classic. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Betty Boyd became known as the “Queen of Tulsa TV” after a career in broadcasting that lasted over twenty-five years. This self-described “wall flower” blossomed as a mother, a volunteer spokesperson for the March of Dimes, a respected broadcaster, a member of the board of education and an Oklahoma state legislator. When both her husband, Bill Boyd Jr., and her daughter, Beverly, contracted polio in the late 1940s, Betty became a volunteer spokesperson for the March of Dimes. Based on her charm and speaking abilities she was asked by KOTV in Tulsa to audition for the station and was hired in 1955. She became the host of Women's Page and Boyd's Eye View, focusing on social issues of the times. Ten years later she joined KTUL to launch another popular television program, The Betty Boyd Show.Betty left KTUL in 1980 to become director of information for Tulsa Tech and later became a member of their board, serving as chairman at the time of her death. She was asked to seek office in the Oklahoma State Legislature, and served the public for ten years. Among her many legislative achievements was co-writing the bill that created Oklahoma State University-Tulsa. A breast cancer survivor, she also focused on health issues.Betty Boyd was recognized for her service and dedication with numerous honors, including lifetime achievement awards from both Women in Communications and American Women in Radio and Television. She was inducted into the Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fame in 1996. Betty Boyd was 86 years old when she died on January 6, 2011.

Zach Posner sees more legal tech founders than almost anyone alive. As founder of The LegalTech Fund, his portfolio includes over 80 companies. David Cowen sits down with Zach, minutes after Anthropic dropped a major legal partnerships announcement, to unpack the macro view: where we are in the cycle, why talent demand is exploding rather than collapsing, and why the most valuable founders are the ones willing to pivot when the data tells them to. Key Topics Covered: Years happen in days: The investor's frame for the current pace of change The Anthropic announcement: Zach's real-time reaction to twenty-plus legal partnerships and the news that legal is Anthropic's most active power user vertical The trillion-dollar market: Why $300B sits in litigation (the loud part) and $700B in business-as-usual The talent surge nobody is reporting: Software engineer demand up 15.6 percent in twelve months The Pathways Project: Zach's initiative predicting what legal looks like in 2040 Founders who pivot: Why none of the founders Zach meets are doing what they originally said they would TLTF in Scottsdale: Why November's invite-only gathering remains the Davos of legal tech
