In this triple episode we address three different areas; things in the PPA that merits some conversation, hardwiring concept and, in the RIFF, we talk about putting your finger on the paddle. 1. On the PPA experience, I was watching two matches and I observed how flaws in the mental game spill over into your physical performance, shot making, execution, your thinking and ultimately decision making. There are good examples from those matches that I share with you in this episode.  It's very important not to lose sight of the mental side of the game to feel better and play better. 2. The second area we discuss is that we're subject to an exchange of inputs and outputs through our processing systems; our minds and our bodies. That's hardwiring and we can't change that, but there are few steps I'll share with you that you can take to help your conscious mind overcome subconscious feeling while you're playing, especially when it comes to survival circuit.  3. In the RIFF, I'm going to talk about putting your finger on the paddle, this is in response to a question that was asked recently by one of our system members.  Special episode reviewing Dayne Gingrich and Jill Martin's book, The Pickleball Mindset: https://betterpickleball.com/resources/Subscribe to the channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQxtrHYdJT1Iy_SHckPt6cg Join us for the Live Game Studies: https://betterpickleball.com/live-game-study Get on the court with us for a Tournament Game Plan: https://betterpickleball.com/tournament-prep-program/And as always, thanks for joining us on Pickleball Therapy - the podcast dedicated to your pickleball improvement. I had a chance to read this new book on the market, The Pickleball Mindset, that's written by my fellow senior professional, pickleball player, Dayne Gingrich, and his co-author, Jill Martin. One really powerful concept that Dayne and Jill address is to stop "chasing the win" and find your purpose. If you listen to this podcast you know we are big fans of defining our relationship with this sport and why we play pickleball. Thus my biggest takeaway was the idea of pre-accepting that anything can happen in a pickleball game, just like in life. The book has some nice nuggets that I'm going to share with you and also give you my thoughts about the book. At the end of the podcast I give you my verdict on whether I think it's worthwhile to dive into, if you haven't done so already. Leaders Of Transformation | Leadership Development | Conscious Business | Global Transformation

What does it take to truly be a champion? As a former professional athlete, Dayne Gingrich quickly learned that success wasn't based on physical talent alone, but rather the ability to mentally prepare for unrelenting tests of character.  He took the lessons he learned as an athlete and turned them into his life-long purpose – impacting people's lives by shifting their mindsets.  With a vision of helping others live a life of confidence and passion, Dayne's mental performance coaching is aimed at elevating your belief in what you're capable of achieving and aligning your mindset with those new expectations.  In today's conversation with Dayne, we explore what differentiates those who are champions, from those who are capable but just don't make it. It's so much more than ability, as Dayne candidly points out through his own climb to success. How did he go from planning to commit suicide to being a performance coach for athletes and sales leaders? Dayne shares the specific things that helped him out of the dark places, and gave him to courage to endure the tough times. Success is not easy, but it's worth it. Key Takeaways 1) Success is not sexy, it's hard work. 2) Don't be afraid to be transparent and honest on social media. Showing the struggle helps those who are going through the same things not feel alone. 3) The 1% mindset isn't just about the top of the mountain; it's about the climb, the journey and the transparency along the way. 4) When you're at your lowest point, find some internal drive inside of you that's beyond yourself, and make a decision to outlast the time it takes to succeed. One day, one step. One day, one step. 5) Stay out of the “how” until you can clearly articulate your vision of possibility. What does it look like when you succeed? Fight the instinct of going into the limiting beliefs, “I can't” and the inner story looping about why it's going to be so difficult. 6) Your strategies and mechanics are reliant on your self-belief. 7) Endurance of the struggle is the foundation for achieving success. We at No Quit Living are so fortunate to have not only had Dayne Gingrich on our show, but his partner, Michael O'Brien on today's episode as well.  Michael delivered some incredible value today. He shares a story of a near fatal accident he was in, when a driver, who shouldn't have been driving, hit him on his bike. He suffered from horrible injuries and for a long time had a "woe is me" mentality. Though he had every right to feel this way, and be upset with the world and his bad luck, it wasn't until he changed this mentality that his situation started to shift. Part of the irony in his situation is that the doctor told his wife that if he wasn't in such great shape, the accident would have killed him. The bike was both his savior, and indirectly what kept him from dying.  Website: https://www.michaelobrienshift.com/ Contact: https://www.michaelobrienshift.com/contact/ Email: michael@pelotoncc.net

He mentions that there is power in the pain, and how important it is to be tough and outlast it. Dayne's no quit story goes back about ten and a half years ago when he prepared to commit suicide. We're very thankful that he didn't, cause if he had, we definitely wouldn't have had the opportunity to speak with him today. Dayne's professional career expands through many different facets - From being a former professional tennis player to an entrepreneur. He talks about how important his morning routine is, and he follows it without any exceptions. The reason being, that by winning his morning he is prepared for any challenge to win the rest of the day. He also says that he never checks his phone or emails within the first couple hours of being awake, because it gives somebody else his power. Somebody else that needs something from him, and it's important to make your morning routine about you. Dayne Gingrich is a high performance coach, speaker and a former professional athlete.  I met Dayne when I was a guest on his Facebook live show (scroll to the bottom of this post to watch) with episode 78 guest, Michael O’Brien.  In the chatroom before we went live, I learned about his incredible story of perseverance after almost ending it all and knew I had to get him on the show to share his tale. In this episode we focus on the mindset needed to perform like the 1%, transitioning to a successful life after sports and coming back to your sport after injury.  This one is full of great takeaways to add to your daily routine! Below are some of the topics Dayne and I discuss in this interview: How Dayne let the influence of others influence his decision to choose tennis over basketball early on in his athletic career. Injury struggles throughout Dayne's athletic career due to a lack of physical preparation. What separates the great ones from the good ones (athletes)? The 1% mindset and doing what others aren’t willing to do to separate yourself from your competition. The first person that came to mind when thinking of athletes who possess the 1% mindset was by buddy Mike Burton, Chicago Bears fullback. What makes up the foundation of a strong mental game. The importance of having self-awareness when embracing the 1% mindset. The low point Dayne hit after starting his own business when he thought about ending it all and how he was able to turn it around. The danger internalizing your external struggles. How to work backward from a vision in the future and planning for what might happen. How to have faith in the unknown. The compound interest of confidence from taking small steps toward your goal. “Success isn’t Sexy it’s sweaty” How Dayne pushes himself out of his comfort zone everyday. The importance of loving what you are doing in the moment and enjoying the preparation. The danger on focusing on the result, whats happened and what might happen. The power of visualization and why you can’t do it enough. Visualizing the comeback after injury.
