We get Johnny on Zoom to talk his breakout role in FX's "Pose," how he's handling quarantine, and generally just be a fun and warm human being (5:30). In the Damn Dozen, learn why Marie Kondo would be proud of his most surprising secret skill, his dueling crushes on Jason Priestley and Ricky Martin, and why he had to pick two favorite Disney characters. Then it's the Casting Calls of the Week (36:20), which goes from Mike working at Red Lobster to Sarah maybe taxidermying her dad? Quarantine's getting weird.
Xavier and Carly walk the ball of FX's "Pose"! Will the children eat it up for a Binge? Or will the judges give it zeroes across the board for a total Bust!? Download and find out!
Hey Sprinklers! We are back from a bit of a break, with a show chock-full great streaming recommendations as well as a Tasty-Treat-Sensation that will blow your socks off!HBO's BIG LITTLE LIES is just breathtaking! It tackles some very serious and intense issues all the while keeping you in suspense and wanting more! The cast is full of Hollywood powerhouses, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Meryll Streep, Nicole Kidman, and Zoë Kravitz who are all incredible. This is strictly a show for adults as it contains depictions of violence and nudity. (What HBO doesn't have violence and nudity?) It's very powerful and really one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. Then I rave on about FX's Pose! Season 1 is on NETFLIX, season 2 has already aired on FX and will apparently coming to NETFLIX sometime this year. The largest cast of Transgender actresses of any show to date. The cast is spectacular! Billy Porter is a scream and such a talent! India Moore is stunning. MJ Rodriguez will steal your heart! And Dominique Jackson is a modern day Joan Collins! Centered around late 1980s New York in the Ball scene which inspired one of Madonna's most famous songs Vogue. Contestants (many of whom were members of the LGBT community) walked runways to compete for trophies. The various themes were fascinating! The houses which is what they called various teams where often literally a collection of people who would live in one house under a "Mother" who would over see the house. Often these were cast-outs who were abandoned by their families because of them being LGBT. The series is set admit the AIDS epidemic. (See the fabulous and heartbreaking documentary, PARIS IS BURNING on NETFLIX to see what POSE is centered on). Pose will want you coming back for more. I recommended this to all my friends who were all so angry when they finished season 1 and realized season 2 is still not on NETFLIX yet. This is also an adults only show. For our Tasty-Treat-Sensation we have Popeye's New Fried Chicken Sandwich. It is incredible! Ever since I had it I have been craving it more and more! Let me recommend you get the fries and the coleslaw! You will not be mad ;)
Emmy-nominated Billy Porter and Ryan Murphy, co-creater of Pose on FX, discuss how the series came to be and why it's shaping into a classic tale for our times. The conversation was recorded on August 13, 2019 in front of a live audience at New York's 92nd Street Y.
With all of the episodes submissions in for Drama Series and individual performers, the first Emmy winner prediction podcast is here, tackling the guest, supporting and lead acting acting categories as well as the big one itself. I am joined once again by Amanda Spears, who correctly predicted the path for Game of Thrones to earn its historic and record-breaking 32 Emmy nominations this season. While it's kind of a forgone conclusion that the incest and dragons page-turner will triumph in Drama Series, there's a lot of room for spoilers, upsets and surprises in the acting categories. Can Peter Dinklage make history and win his fourth? Will Pose's Billy Porter be the first out, queer, black man to win Lead Actor in a Drama Series? Will Lead Actress go to Killing Eve's Jodie Comer or Sandra Oh? Or is Emilia Clarke going to fly in destroy their chances? All these questions and more get answered. With music, this podcast runs 1h 16m 38s with music. Opening: Into to FX's Pose Closing" "Home," sung by Mj Rodriguez, Billy Porter and featuring Our Lady J from FX's Pose

Angelica Ross is an actress, entrepreneur and activist. Angelica started her career in the Navy. Six months after joining, she requested and received an "uncharacterized" discharge under the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy, because she was harassed by enlisted men who coerced her into saying she was gay. After leaving The Navy, Angelica began her gender transition. Angelica then moved to Hollywood, Florida and worked as a model and escort until 2003. After that she started a web development and graphic design business. Angelica launched TransTech Social Enterprises, a nonprofit creative design firm that trains and contracts transgender and other workers. In 2016, Angelica reinvented her career again, and began her professional acting career when she was in the Emmy-nominated webseries, Her Story. These days Angelica portrays the character Candy Abundance in the 2018 Ryan Murphy-produced, FX series Pose. The series is incredibly historic as it features five transgender women of color as main characters. Today Angelica is here to talk about how her adversity led to her purpose, what cisgender people can do to help transgender people and how things are changing for the transgender community.

Television audiences are currently obsessed with shows like RuPaul's Drag Race and FX's Pose, presenting different angles on the profession and art of drag. New York City has been crucial to its current moment in pop culture and people have been performing and enjoy drag performers in this city for over 120 years. In the beginning there were two styles of drag -- vaudeville and ballroom. As female impersonators filled Broadway theaters -- one theater is even named for a famed gender illusionist -- thrill seekers were heading to the balls of Greenwich Village and Harlem. By the 1930s, the gay scene began retreating into the shadows, governed by mob control and harshly policed. By design, drag became political. It also became a huge counter-cultural influence in the late 1960s -- from the glamour of Andy Warhol's superstars to the jubilant schtick of Charles Busch. But it was the 1980s that brought the most significant influences to our current pop cultural moment. Joining Greg on this show are two experts on two late 80s/early 90s scenes -- Felix Rodriguez, a videographer of the ballroom culture (made famous by the film Paris Is Burning) and Linda Simpson, one of the great queens of East Village drag. FEATURING: Drag kings! Wigstock! And the famous drag queen who got struck by lightning. Support the show.
Welcome Renegade Nation it’s me Naughty Nicole and it’s time for another renegade review, and for today’s entry, we’re looking at a new one-hour drama based on a historic real-life counter-culture phenomenon! From Ryan Murphy, you know the guy who created Glee and American Horror Story: well it was announced he was helming a show following the 1980s ball scene of New York City, red flags immediately went up. Murphy is rather known for well morphing subject matter into a hyperreality that’s sensational, over-the-top and oftentimes campy — but you know what? It’s his brand, and he is unapologetic about it and honestly, he does it better than anyone else out there. I admit that I’ve ridden the Murphy train more than once… oh, that sounds rather naughty.. The hell with it, I’m leaving it as is. I love me some campy shit, but lately I’ve tuned in for his latest and greatest only to find myself jumping ship halfway thru the season… if not earlier. But based on the first few episodes of Pose, this FX drama may be the redeeming Murphy journey that may win me over. Pose, premiered Sunday June 3rd, at 9 PM, and this was not just the start of another one of Murphy’s projects, but this is a full on, in-depth history lesson in LGBTQ culture. Set in ’80s New York City during the era of shoulder-padded badassedness, the drama dives into the ball culture, a counterculture movement steeped in queerness and defiance.
