Serial Box has been a leader in creating original content that offers subscribers the ability to listen to programs. Last month, the platform finished their first Marvel collaboration, Marvel's Thor: Metal Gods, and now this month they've begun a season of a new one: Marvel’s Black Widow: Bad Blood. This story is 14 episodes long and comes from an all-female writing team led by Lindsay Smith (Serial Box's Orphan Black: The Next Chapter), with writers Mikki Kendall (Hood Feminism: Notes from the Women That a Movement Forgot and Amazons, Abolitionists, and Activists), L.L. McKinney (A Blade So Black), and Taylor Stevens (Vanessa Michael Munroe series), and screenwriter Margaret Dunlap (Netflix’s Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance). Additionally, it's narrated by acclaimed voice actress Sarah Natochenny (Ash Ketchum in Pokémon). I got the chance to sit down with Natochenny to discuss her work on the project and voice acting in general. In Marvel's Black Widow: Bad Blood, someone has stolen the Black Widow’s blood, and now she must find them before it’s too late.

For the 12th episode, recorded the day after the guys went to see the new Star Wars, we spend time catching up on movies pushed back, clashing, sequels, remade and rebooted. Godzilla, Home Alone, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, The Dirty Dozen, Ace Ventura, and more. We talk if John Wick 4 and Matrix 4 can actually launch the same day as planned of it's too much Keanu for everyone. We also talk some more about Bill And Ted probably because the answer is no. Disney continues to demand news coverage, so we pay their services by talking about how much money they've made in 2019, and how much impact the future of Disney+ has on movies. Plus the Star Wars script that went on eBay! And then decide 2020 is going to be a DC instead of Marvel year... but why? Ryan has a discussion about another Ryan for Bayhem reasons, and then we talk about how pointless Tarantino's decision just to make 10 movies actually is before making ourselves, but especially Rob, feel very old by talking about classic films and the US National Film Registry. We then tackle trailers, including Fantasy Island, which we somehow entirely forgot about last episode... then go across others including Marvel's Black Widow, new Bond in No Time To Die, Wonder Woman 1984, and Rob spends too much time being giddy over what we're now calling 'Paul Rudd's Ghostbusters' among others. Then we follow that up with a conversation about Christopher Nolan's next film Tenet - which then becomes a discussion about studios turning trailers into events of their own and how wrong we are celebrating the marketing of films almost more than the films themselves. Looking at you Fast and Furious franchise... Reviews see the guys talking a little about the crazy event that is the Auckland 24 Hour Movie Marathon. Ryan then discusses Last Christmas, Rob talks on Ford V. Ferarri (aka Le Mans '66), Knives Out, and Ready or Not before the two talk the pros and cons of Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker - spoiler free - less than a day after they saw it. Due to lack of time in the episode, there is no 'Films... but Badly' this time around, but we are thinking about a 2019 review episode separate. Please like, subscribe, share and enjoy! We talked about it multiple times in 2017, but here is our first (and kinda short) movie pitch episode. This episode is a solo pitch where I talk about my own idea for a Marvel Black Widow movie. This pitch mostly revolves around what I would do with the plot of the movie and how it would fit into the Marvel MCU. This will probably be a pitch that gets revisited with a guest so we can do a deeper dive on specific scenes and more intimate story details. Think of this as a preview of the feature. Chris Samnee, the co-writer and artist of Marvel's Black Widow, joins Off Panel this week to talk his work on that book and his new Daredevil Artist's Edition from IDW Publishing. Samnee talks how that Artist's Edtion came together, his approach to art, why the inking process is so important to him, what makes working on Black Widow so special, how co-writing that book changes things for him, the superpowers of color artist Matt Wilson, character acting, and more. As people have been away and tied up with work this week, it's the perfect opportunity to air an interview I did recently with the author Richard Morgan. Richard is a sci-fi and fantasy writer, who's probably best know for his Philip K. Dick Award winning sci-fi novel Altered Carbon, which went on to spawn the Takeshi Kovacs trilogy. He's 2nd trilogy 'A Land Fit for Heroes' moved him into fantasy, and is currently being turned into an interactive gamebook by Liber Primus Games. If you don't know Richard from his excellent novels, he also wrote the Syndicate reboot for EA in 2012, Crysis 2 for Crytek in 2011, and was largely responsible for rebooting Marvel's Black Widow with his two six issue miniseries he wrote for the character. You can find out more about the Land Fit for Heroes gamebook here, and more about Richard here. Geektown Radio : Author Richard Morgan Special!
