Dennis is joined via Zoom by actor Emerson Collins who is currently starring in the one-man play Buyer and Cellar by Jonathan Tolins at the Whitefire Theatre in Los Angeles. The play is a "What if?" story about an underemployed actor who gets a job working in the mall in Barbra Streisand's basement. Emerson talks about what drew him to the play, shares his favorite moment in the show and recalls his harrowing first audition, which happened days after he had emergency appendix surgery. He also talks about working as a producer for writer-director Del Shores (Sordid Lives), getting discovered by Del in a Dallas production of Del's play Southern Baptist Sissies, then taking a leap of faith and moving to LA to appear in the LA production. Other topics include: whether famous people can have real friendships with non-famous people, Emerson's memories of the late, great Leslie Jordan, the shooting permit disaster that almost shut down the film of Southern Baptist Sissies, working retail aa a Banana Republic display visionary, driving for Lyft when he found out he got cast in Rent: Live for Fox TV, why he posts Speedo shots on Instagram and the curvacious and hard-to-read title font Barbra picked for the book that inspired Buyer and Cellar, My Passion For Design. www.emersoncollins.com

Blake and Sal go without Mark this week as they have survived fire and a deep freeze. After a quick look at Celebrity Big Brother, the Super Bowl and a big cross promoted segment discussing RENT Live, the guys look at a crazy week in WWE, including news about Ronda Rousey, Dean Ambrose and KENTA, Halftime Heat, Becky Lynch being the biggest star in the company and looking at a very strange episode of Smackdown. Sit back, try to keep warm, and enjoy the show!
With Mark still out sick, the guys discuss the breaking news of the New Jersey Devils trading Brian Boyle, predict who is going to win Celebrity Big Brother and how Rent Live has effected NBC's plans for Hair Live. Then they break down all the Super Bowl festivities from the lackluster game, the best and worst commercials, the weirdness of the halftime show and NXT Halftime Heat. Finally after going through a slow wrestling news week, they break down this week in Becky Lynch as she has in ring segments with both Stephanie McMahon and Triple H and where we think the storyline is going.
Rent was on FOX on January 25th and Blake is back for this special episode to discuss in with special guests Robert E G Black and newcomer Emily Kastner. The three of them break down the positives and negatives of the show, the injury news that plagued the show, whether the show could have been aired differently, who stood out from the cast, what made Blake cry and more. It's a fun talk and it may have convinced Blake to do a future project.
Blake welcomes Matt Tamanini from Broadway World to not only breakdown What You Own, they discuss Matt's dislike of the movie and then his thoughts on The Jonathan Larson Project and RENT Live!

Jordan Fisher is currently starring in the upcoming production of "Sweeney Todd" on Broadway. Being drawn to art and performing from a young age, it's no surprise that he ended up in the industry. Apart from performing, the actor shares his love for gaming and what it's like to be a professional eSports athlete, including his day-to-day work in the gaming space. Jordan talks about what's different about this production of Sweeney this time and their take on the piece, which will look, feel and sound familiar but bigger and larger at the same time—the most realistic telling of the story, if you will. Jordan Fisher is an actor, singer, songwriter, producer, and gamer who has done numerous projects in the TV, movie, theatre, and gaming industry. He can be seen in Netflix's "Work It" and "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" sequel, The CW's "The Flash", and most recently, Netflix's "Hello, Goodbye, and Everything In Between" and HBO's "Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Underground Rock Experience". Apart from acting, he's an avid gamer and has commentated for the 2019 Fortnite World Cup. Jordan was also the first Black actor to portray the title character of Evan in "Dear Evan Hansen" and Mark in the Emmy-nominated "Rent: Live". He was also named a breakout star by MTV and People Magazine for Fox's Emmy-winning broadcast "Grease Live!" and won ABC's 25th season of Dancing with the Stars. He collaborated with Lin-Manuel Miranda wherein he performed a duet with him for Disney's "Moana" soundtrack and joined the cast of the Tony Award-winning musical, "Hamilton". Jordan is part of the upcoming production of "Sweeney Todd" on Broadway on March 26, 2023, and you can also catch him streaming on Twitch. RENT COMPOSER: Jonathan Larson LYRICIST: Jonathan Larson BOOK: Jonathan Larson SOURCE: La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini (1896) DIRECTOR: Michael Greif CHOREOGRAPHER: Marlies Yearby PRINCIPLE CAST: Adam Pascal (Roger), Anthony Rapp (Mark), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Mimi) OPENING DATE: Apr 29, 1996 CLOSING DATE: Sep 07, 2008 PERFORMANCES: 5,123 SYNOPSIS: Mark and Roger are two bohemian artists living in New York's lower East Side at the height of the AIDS epidemic. Mark is a documentary filmmaker and Roger is an HIV positive songwriter. When Roger meets Mimi, a drug addict, he falls madly in love but is unsure if he should tell her of his impending mortality. Composer Jonathon Larson set out to bring musical theatre to a new generation with Rent, a rock opera based on Puccini's La Boheme and set in Lower Manhattan's East Village. The musical helped break taboos and stigma around queerness, trans liberation, and AIDs. Jordan Dragutsky chronicles Larson's quest for giving his generation a voice that sounded like the popular music of the time with the sophistication of musical theatre composition, the advocacy of Rent by New York Theatre Works, the unique casting and design process that was helmed by director Michael Greif, and how the unexpected death of Larson catapulted Rent, and its stars, to global popularity. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jordan Dragutsky grew up surrounded by the entertainment industry and relocated to New York in 2010 after graduating from UCIrvine (BA Drama/Minor Queer Studies). Jordan has assisted in press offices and production/merchandising for over 30 Broadway, Off-Broadway, dance, and touring productions including: Harry Potter & The Cursed Child, Hair, Wicked, and Book of Mormon. He joined the administrative staff at the New York Film Academy in 2012, and from 2015-2020 he served as Senior Dept. Coordinator for the Musical Theatre department. Jordan is a proud member of SAG/AFTRA with experience working on over 100 TV/Film sets. Alton Fitzgerald White is the only black actor who has played in a lead role in five hit shows on Broadway; John in MISS SAIGON; Ken in SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE (he originated the role in London's West End); Coalhouse Walker Jr. in RAGTIME: THE MUSICAL; Mister in THE COLOR PURPLE; and King Mufasa in THE LION KING. Hear what he has to say about his humble beginnings watching variety shows on television, the incident during RAGTIME that changed his life, and the lessons he learned from playing Mufasa onstage over 4,000 times. About the Guest Alton Fitzgerald White made his Broadway starring debut as John in MISS SAIGON. Demonstrating his vocal versatility Alton then moved on to the more aggressive role of The Hawker in THE WHO'S TOMMY. Next was the popular Broadway show SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE where White dazzled theatergoers with dynamic renditions of Leiber and Stoller classics. His commanding performance reached new heights as he sang and danced the romantic pas de deux “Spanish Harlem,” to stunning applause. This performance lead to his West End debut in the original London company of the smash hit. White then landed the coveted starring role of Coalhouse Walker Jr. in RAGTIME: THE MUSICAL. The journey began with the pre-Broadway original company in Toronto opposite six-time Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald, the critically acclaimed national tour and ultimately Broadway, opposite Tony Award-winner LaChanze. After an exceptionally blessed 5 1/2 years of continuous 8 shows a week on Broadway, White took a year off for TV (episodes of “Law and Order”), Film (The Invention of Lying, directed by and starring the brilliant multi-award winning comedian, Ricky Gervais), concerts around the world, voice-overs and commercial work. Very soon after, Disney invited Alton to re-create the role of Mufasa for a record-breaking, sit-down company at The Mandalay Bay in Viva Las Vegas. After a phenomenal year in Vegas, he was again invited back into the Broadway company. October 2012 marked the release of his critically acclaimed, smash-hit CD, "Disney My Way." After a record-breaking 4,308 performances as King Mufasa in The Lion King, White added author to his growing list of titles with his recent book release titled MY PRIDE: MASTERING LIFE'S DAILY PERFORMANCE, a best selling inspirational biography filled with secrets to fulfillment and joy in work and life, published by Disney Editions. He has also become an in-demand motivational speaker at BrightSight Group and has been a Keynote Speaker for clients like Seasons Healthcare Management, Americans For The Arts, The Wisconsin Association of School Boards and Youth First Partnership to name a few. His popular TEDx Talk can be found on YouTube. White has made guest star appearances on the hit series MINDHUNTER (NETFLIX), MADAM SECRETARY (CBS), BULL (CBS), THE BLACKLIST (NBC), THE GOOD FIGHT (CBS.com) and CODE BLACK(CBS) and THE GOLDFINCH playing opposite Nicole Kidman. He was also featured in RENT LIVE for The FOX Network. Visit https://altonfitzgeraldwhite.com/ (https://altonfitzgeraldwhite.com/) for more information. In Episode 32, we talk about a very sad crime committed against actor Jussie Smollett, Ariana Grande's tattoo snafu (and the fix she made that actually made it worse!) and get into the ramifications of the winners from last weekend's SAG Awards (all aboard the Glenn Close hype train!). In the Marquee Topic, we break down the latest live musical to hit the small screen: "Rent." We talk about our personal history with the Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning musical by Jonathan Larson, discuss the good and bad of the Fox production (some good, a lot of bad) and contemplate whether it is totally fair to judge this “live” production after most of what aired was actually the dress rehearsal from the night before.
