Joe Fontana spent a decade chasing a punk rock music career and another six years trapped in a soul-crushing corporate job that caused his leg hair to fall out from stress. Broke and with a baby on the way, he packed up his life, moved into his in-laws' basement, and took the ultimate leap of faith. He borrowed $21,000 from his mother's savings, scrapped his original restaurant idea, and launched Fry the Coop. Today, that single chicken sandwich shop has exploded into a fast-casual powerhouse with 11 locations, over 200 employees, and $15 million in annual revenue. In this episode of the UpFlip Podcast, Joe sits down with Ryan Atkinson to break down the exact roadmap he used to scale from an empty cash register to an eight-figure empire. He reveals why hiring a publicist was the ultimate cheat code to hitting his first million, how treating customer service like "vanilla ice cream" scaled him to $5M, and the painful $12,000 accounting mistake that taught him why you must watch your financials like a hawk.Whether you want to open a restaurant or scale a local brick-and-mortar, Joe drops the unvarnished truth on what it takes to survive and thrive.

Our 50 Over 50 Women of Influence in Affordable Housing WAHNcast series celebrates the remarkable women whose leadership, service, and generosity have shaped our industry while inspiring the next generation. In this episode, fellow 50 Over 50 honoree Ann Cone sits down with Cindy Prater of Tapestry Development Group, WAHN's inaugural WAHNderful Woman of the Year, for a conversation that's equal parts heartfelt, insightful, and laugh-out-loud funny. Cindy's path into affordable housing began with a newspaper ad she almost ignored and a due diligence checklist she had to figure out one step at a time. More than 20 years later, she reflects on the mentors who believed in her before she believed in herself, the confidence that comes from asking questions, and why some of the best careers are built one challenge at a time. Along the way, Cindy shares the story of helping launch WAHN Alabama, mentoring the next generation of women in affordable housing, and why the energy of WAHN is something she wishes everyone could "bottle up and sprinkle everywhere." It's a joyful conversation about taking chances, lifting others as you climb, and finding purpose in work that changes lives.

Kaôh F***ing Rong Rewatch Ep 11 Survivor: Kaôh R?ng takes center stage on “Kaôh F*ing Rong” as hosts Rob Cesternino and Chappell dissect Episode 11's explosive shifts, tough social decisions, and the mounting pressure as the finale draws near. Right from the opening, the podcast zooms in on Michele's sudden ascent—after a quiet edit, Michele's reward win launches her “winner montage” and finally spotlights her powerful social strategy in the late game. Rob digs into striking comparisons between Michele's and Aubry's journeys—both know when to step back and when to act, proving sometimes the best move is letting others self-destruct. Chappell unpacks Tai's idol decision gone wrong and his bumpy path as he faces down angry former allies and an unimpressed jury. The duo debates if Tai's track record of flip-flopping costs him respect, interrogates Cydney's role as a critical swing vote, and scrutinizes whether it's wiser to boot physical threats or strategic underdogs. The episode brings lighter moments too, with a reward meal complete with fried chicken, wine, and a surprisingly pivotal ladies’ alliance discussion. – Michele's game ignition after her big reward and immunity wins cements her as a contender as hosts highlight her self-awareness and social strength – Tai's idol mishap and his failure to recover respect from the jury, leading to his fate as a zero-vote finalist – Cydney's tricky position as the swing vote: should she side with Michele and Aubry, or flip to Jason and Julia for a potential win? – Jury perceptions, alliance voting blocks, and why targeting “goats” like Jason versus jury threats like Julia matters in the late game – Unforgettable scenes at reward, a throwback puzzle challenge, and musings on the evolving look of Survivor's jury As alliances fracture and the endgame rushes closer, “Kaôh F*ing Rong” ponders: will Michele's timing mark her as the winner, can Aubry capitalize on her bonds, or will Cydney shake up the final act? With every move under the microscope, who will outwit and outlast to claim the title? Dive into all the strategy, shifting loyalties, and behind-the-scenes talk on this week's episode, and find out which path to the end looks the most dangerous—and the most promising! What if creating isn't about building something new—but solving a problem you can't ignore? In this episode, Jason Squires sits down with Greg Mansur, lead pastor of Adventure Church, to talk about what it really looks like to create opportunity that serves people, not just builds platforms. From planting a church in Yuba City, CA to launching spaces that meet real needs in the community, Greg shares how identifying a problem can become the catalyst for meaningful impact. We dive into the gap between having ideas and actually bringing them to life, and what it takes to move from “this could help” to “this now exists.” We also talk honestly about success, how to resist the pull of measuring attendance and instead focus on transformation as well as why true growth happens when what you build starts multiplying through others. If you're a leader, creator, or someone who feels the tension between vision and execution, this conversation will challenge you to think differently about what you're building and who it's really for.
