After a strong financial performance in December 2024 and a non-disastrous Phil Spencer interview, gamers are seemingly starting to bite on Xbox's vision a bit. After managing to fund games like Kunitsu-Gami, Ninja Gaiden 4, and reportedly picking up the phone to talk about Ori 3, Xbox appears to be driving all of their capital into making the unlikely games actually exist. If Xbox's future as a third party publisher is looking like this, it means that excellent games are enroute and that is a win for everyone. Do the Dukes agree?! Perhaps. You're going to have to listen to find out, obviously. Nerd. 2023 is TEN YEARS since the release of Gears of War Judgment so it's only fitting that it's our first game retrospective for the podcast. We continue to cover the franchise in chronological order, and Judgment is set early in the timeline of Gears media. In this episode we deep dive into the campaign side of the Judgment package and discuss everything from Story, Characters, Gameplay, and Presentation. Is it really the "least good" Gears of War game? Let's get into it... If you enjoy the content, you know the drill, please do leave us a rating or review! Video version of the podcast are available on Youtube. Tom Bissell: author, critic, video game writer. What was his path to authorhood? What inspired him to write the video game-focused essay collection Extra Lives? Also this month, Steve is joined by co-host Michael Abbott of the Brainygamer blog and podcast! Savor his dulcet tones.

Raset av påskefilmer er over oss! I denne podcasten anmeldes 8 av dem, nemlig Jack The Giant Slayer, Eventyrland, Pitch Perfect, I Give It a Year, Stories We Tell, Kvartetten, Holy Motors og Croods (anmeldelsen av Kapringen kommer etter helga).
Let's hear it for the supporting character! This week, we discuss two games based off the less popular sidekicks of major franchises. First, we have the Ballad of Baird, also known as Gears of War: Judgment. The fourth game in the Gears of War franchise has more of what you've come to expect from the franchise, which means hours of carefree body mutilation. Speaking of dead stuff, Justin leans over the campfire to tell us a scary story about the time he reviewed The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. Sticking to the ghastly theme, we finish the show with a Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, the second game in a series about the lesser-loved plumber turned ghost hunter. Is Dark Moon the 3DS's killer app? Does anyone care about 3DS when we have Super Stickman Golf 2 on our cellphones? Does the video game industry have a morbid fascination with our mutual fleeting mortality? Find out on this week's Besties! 03:00 - Gears of War: Judgment 16:30 - Half Time - The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct 29:30 - Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon 46:00 - What's next?
