For the second week in a row, we find ourselves wading back into the cinematic swamp of “animals who have absolutely had it with humans.” This time, the creature feature du jour is THRASH (2026), a Netflix exclusive that once lounged around Sony's living room before being scooped up by the streaming giant. It splashed onto VOD on April 10th, 2026, and to the shock of absolutely no one, it feels a bit like déjà vu of CRAWL (2019)—only someone swapped the alligator for sharks, as if playing a very chaotic round of ecological Mad Libs.According to IMDb, the plot goes something like: “When a Category 5 hurricane decimates a coastal town, the storm surge brings devastation, chaos and something far more frightening: hungry sharks.” In other words, Mother Nature looked at the disaster movie genre and said, “You know what this needs? Teeth.” The film comes courtesy of Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola—yes, the mastermind behind DEAD SNOW and VIOLENT NIGHT—who clearly woke up one morning and chose aquatic violence. The cast boasts Phoebe Dynevor, Whitney Peak, Djimon Hounsou, Matt Nable, and more brave souls willing to pretend they're being hunted by CGI fins. Reviews have ranged from “eh” to “please no,” but Netflix has been promoting it with the enthusiasm of a proud parent whose child just ate an entire crayon. Luckily, your cohosts are joined by actor Dan Lench (CIRCLE, MAXXXINE, THE LURKING MAN) to dive into this toothy tempest of nature‑gone‑wild horror.
War Horror Month continues, and we are moving from the claustrophobic depths of the Atlantic to the chaotic, blood-soaked mountains of Norway. This week, Marcus and Luke are tackling the high-octane, over-the-top madness of Tommy Wirkola's 2014 sequel: Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead.Just like last year we have brought reinforcements. Today we dive (Literally) into Netflix's Thrash (2026), the wild, storm-fueled survival thriller that asks a simple question: what's worse than a Category 5 hurricane? Try adding a ton of Bull sharks.Directed by Tommy Wirkola, Thrash throws us into a flooded South Carolina coastal town where rising waters bring more than destruction, they unleash a shark feeding frenzy. We break down the film's chaotic premise, from stranded residents and collapsing homes to shark-infested streets, and explore how it blends disaster movie intensity with over-the-top creature feature horror. Is Thrash a worthy addition to the long line of shark thrillers, or just another entry in the “so-bad-it's-fun” category? If you love high-stakes survival, creature features, or just the latest Netflix chaos to unfold on screen, this episode is for you. Welcome to another episode of Death Don't Do Fiction, the AIPT Movies podcast! The podcast about the enduring legacy of our favorite movies! It's April, so that means it's time for our “No EscApril” series, where we celebrate the wonder of thrillers! Not quite horror, not quite action, that sweet spot in the middle where danger is afoot, and lives are still on the line! In this week's episode, Alex, Tim, and guest K-Tron discuss Brian De Palma's 1984 entry in the “pro-peeping tom propaganda” subgenre, Body Double! Excessive voyeurism! Open disdain for subtlety! Inept cops! A hotdog-shaped hotdog store! A bizarre and touchy acting class/therapy session! Troy McClure's weird Chemosphere house from The Simpsons! An insane Frankie Goes To Hollywood music video in the middle of the movie! Hide and seek-related trauma! A claustrophobic sardine who can't scream! A platinum blonde 80s vampire! Motion sickness-inducing bed drinking! A blatantly labeled door! Cultural insensitivity! A dizzying and confusing makeout session! A disturbing drill with a surprisingly short power cord! The Gone with the Wind of adult films! A random Nostromo hat from Alien! R-rated end credits! Rear projection and matte paintings! Great cinematography and camerawork, including several split diopter shots! An excellent musical score from Pino Donaggio! A fun cast that includes Dennis Franz, Barbara Crampton in her first role, Craig Wasson being convincingly pervy, and a fearless Melanie Griffith! All that and more in this unapologetically 80s thriller that explores the seedy underbelly of Hollywood, and may be the pinnacle of HitchSchlock! In addition, Tim recommends Sam Raimi's Send Help, K-Tron discusses the trippy 1961 film The Mask, while Alex gives his spoiler-free thoughts on Lee Cronin's The Mummy, the new Faces of Death, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and the Netflix shark thriller Thrash! You can find Death Don't Do Fiction on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. As always, if you enjoy the podcast, be sure to leave us a positive rating, subscribe to the show, and tell your friends! The Death Don't Do Fiction podcast brings you the latest in movie news, reviews, and more! Hosted by supposed “industry vets,” Alex Harris and Tim Gardiner, the show gives you a peek behind the scenes from two filmmakers with oddly nonexistent filmographies. You can find Alex on Twitter, Bluesky, or Letterboxd @actionharris. You can follow K-Tron on Letterboxd @puddingtaco. Tim can't be found on social media because he doesn't exist. If you have any questions or suggestions for the Death Don't Do Fiction crew, they can be reached at aiptmoviespod@gmail.com, or you can find them on Twitter or Instagram @aiptmoviespod. Theme song is “We Got it Goin On” by Cobra Man.
Jay and Mark discuss the 2026 survival horror film Thrash. Directed by Tommy Wirkola and starring Phoebe Dynevor, Whitney Peak, Djimon Hounsou, and the worst foster parents ever, the movie focuses on what happens when South Carolina residents are forced to deal with raging waters, pouring rain, and hungry sharks. In this episode, they also talk about steak dynamite, blood trucks, and morbid survival advice. Enjoy!

Send us Fan MailThe latest Shark attack movie streaming on Netflix now.I very much enjoyed this one. Entertaining to watch and there wasn't any slow bits.On this episode, I talk about some of the funny things I noticed about the characters and the best way to watch a shark attack, if you at all had to witness anyone get taken... like someone that you didn't very much like... like if you were a foster child, and you had foster parents that only had you in their house so they could get a check every week and keep the money for themselves... like if you were that child and your career was taken by a shark right in front of you. The best way to view it would be behind a strong think glass panel so that you could see what was happening above the water and what was happening beneath too.Podcast Credits;Written by Brad Eastall (aka Brad DJ)Podcast Website;braddj.com/podcastBMR starting song bit"Acent" by JoshEMusic credit from looperman.com"Dubstep Drums 140 bpm Build Up" by CozyBrokeMusic credit from - freesound.org“Ionicsmusic” Drum&Bass 05 and 06 vol.1"Kangus Sound Editor Sound Effect" by Paulnorthyorks"Creepy Tension Rise Build Up 1" by Miksmusic"spooky music" by TheOjt"Thunderstorm Lighting Strike" by Foad"Electric Shock 10" by Mensageirocs

God lytting!

GET YOUR MULTIVERSE NEWS MERCH HERE:https://multiverse-news-shop.fourthwall.com/In a peek behind the curtain, James Gunn shared with Rolling Stone this week that the Milly Alcock-lead film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will now just be called Supergirl. This is similar to July's Superman, which started out with the title Superman: Legacy. Gunn shared that he and his team do what he calls “premortems,” where they attempt to suss out issues with projects prior to release rather than reacting on the back end. The shortening of titles has come out of those discussions. In the same article, Gunn got candid about the state of Batman in the DCU and the complexities of navigating the character with Matt Reeves' adaptation in consideration or making it his own. Lastly, Gunn announced today that actor Tom Rhys Harries will play Basil Karlo/Clayface in the film set to be released in September 2026.Live action remakes continue to rule at the box office, with this weekend's How to Train Your Dragon capturing the top spot opening to a global $197 million. A24's romantic comedy Materialists starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal, opened to a modest $11 million domestically, but goes down in studio history as A24's third highest debut at the box office. Next weekend Sony gives us 28 Years Later and Pixar releases Elio.Nosferatu director Robert Eggers is tackling the classic Charles Dickens story, A Christmas Carol. Eggers is on record as never wanting to make a film set in a modern age, and the ghost story that is A Christmas Carol seems right up his alley. Though unconfirmed, Willem Dafoe is likely set to play the main character of Ebenezer Scrooge as Dafoe has been in three of Eggers films.Tommy Wirkola will return to direct Violent Night 2, the sequel to the Christmas-themed action movie released in 2022, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. David Harbour, who starred in the first film, will also return. The sequel is currently dated for December 4, 2026.Bill Pullman and Rick Moranis are set to reprise their respective roles as Lone Starr and Dark Helmet in the new Spaceballs movie from Amazon MGM Studios, with Keke Palmer and Lewis Pullman also joining the cast. The original film's director and star, Mel Brooks - who will turn 99 this month - will also feature in the cast once again, reprising his role as Yogurt. The film is currently set to release in 2027.On the animation side of DC Studios, Warner Bros. announced a new series called Mister Miracle, based on the comic series written by renowned writer Tom King who will also be the showrunner. Mister Miracle is an escape artist character who is a celebrity in the comic book world he lives in.Paramount+ has renewed Star Trek: Strange New Worlds the series for a fifth and final six-episode season. Production on the upcoming season will begin later this year.Pixar Animation Studios offered an exclusive first look at its upcoming features — including Hoppers and Toy Story 5 — and announced a brand-new original production, Gatto, during a studio presentation on Friday at the Annecy international animation film festival as part of a broader showcase that also included extensive footage from Pixar's 2025 release Elio.Gatto will be directed by Luca filmmaker Enrico Casarosa, follows Nero, a water-hating black cat living in the picturesque city of Venice, Italy, who befriends Maya, a lonely street musician.Glenn Close and Billy Porter have joined the cast of Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Close will play Drusilla Sickle, the cruel escort to the District 12 Tributes, while Porter snagged the role of Magno Stift, her estranged husband and the Tributes' uninspired designer. Today, Jhaleil Swaby was also added to the cast as Panache, a career tribute from District 1.
God lytting!

This week, we continue our journey into the doldrums of Colin's middle period with a look at Dead Man Down, a muddled attempt by original Girl With the Dragon Tattoo director Niels Arden Oplev to inject European art film flair into the DTV crime thriller mold. We discuss the film's incoherent plotting and tone, once again tackle the question of Colin Farrell in action hero mode, and break down co-star Noomi Rapace's odd run as a failed Hollywood leading lady. Plus, because you try talking about this movie, we get very loopy and really just drift off into whatever tangents cross our minds. But, like, more so than usual. Cole wants Tommy Wirkola to chill. Connor debuts his Justin Timberlake impression. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
We pick up where we left off in Episode 3, with Martin trying to escape the Nazi Draug. This time, he gets a little help from a crack squad of American zombie hunters. USA! USA! This one has more blood, more intestines and more humor than the first Dead Snow. If only Tommy Wirkola had left the last five minutes out. Brandon stumbles his way through the podcast's first #German language movie review. But, anything to diversify the show's demographic reach, right? Dead Snow Red vs Dead Final Grade: Steve - Top Shelf Brandon - Top Shelf Both of the guys agree that we could have done without the weird zombie-sex scene at the end. That didn't quite hit right. Story 1 (00:00:): Actor David Harbour has plans for a "Violent Night" Cinematic Universe and has suggested that Pedro Pascal and Oscar Isaac join him as the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy, respectively. Harbour's idea for the universe is similar to the 2012 film "Rise of the Guardians," in which holiday characters become an Avengers-like team. However, the "Violent Night" version would be far more violent. The film, "Violent Night," follows Harbour's unconventional Santa as he fights off a group of elite mercenaries who have taken hostages in a wealthy family's compound on Christmas Eve. The film is directed by Tommy Wirkola and stars John Leguizamo, Beverly D'Angelo, Alex Hassell, Alexis Louder, Edi Patterson, Cam Gigandet, and André Eriksen in addition to Harbour as Santa.Story 2 (00::): Canadian marathoner and environmentalist Antoine Moses set a new world record by planting 23,060 saplings in less than 24 hours, breaking the previous record of 15,170 trees set by Canadian Kenny Chaplin in 2001. The feat received widespread praise on social media and the Guinness World Record website recognized it as an official achievement. Moses has planted over 1.3 million plants across Canada over the years and was supported by a crew of six people in his record-breaking effort. The video of the feat has received over 1.7 million views on social media. Deforestation is a leading cause of global warming, and planting trees is one way to combat climate change. Global leaders are currently meeting at the COP 27 summit in Egypt to discuss limiting global warming as part of the fight against climate change.Story 3 (00::): Over 6,000 children have been killed or injured by gunfire in the United States in 2022, according to the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive. This marks a record high in the nine years that the organization has been tracking such incidents. At least 306 children 11 years old or younger and 1,323 children between the ages of 12 and 17 have been killed in shootings this year. The increase in gun violence among children coincides with ongoing debates over gun control measures in the United States.Shout Out To: @entertainmenttruefacts @pubity@abcnewsJOIN Inspired Disorder +PLUS Today! It is the week of Christmas, and as both a pro-horror and pro-holiday podcast, Aughtsterion has convened to celebrate a new double-genre classic. Sam and Jordan liked the new movie Violent Night so much that they had to record a Seasons Greetings episode about it. From Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola and the up and coming action factory 87North (springing from the virtuoso stunt collective 87eleven), Violent Night is about is Santa was a jaded drunk despondent over the global diminishing of Christmas spirit among kids. Which of course means the only way he can rekindle those Christmas fires within is to protect one small pure-hearted girl whose family is being sieged by terrorists on Xmas Eve. It's bloody. It's sentimental. It's Beverly D'Angelo saying obscene things. This movie is Aughts approved, and best of all, it even includes a tease of Sam's new original holiday music that you can have if you donate any amount of money to AIDS/LifeCycle. It's the annual charity drive, so get to giving!
Actress Beverly D'Angelo was one of the stars the beloved Christmas movie NATIONAL LAMPOON'S CHRISTMAS VACATION (1989). Now she's back in the new horror comedy VIOLENT NIGHT (2022) where Santa Claus is real and he actually has to interact with people that aren't so nice.Santa Claus (David Harbour) is disillusioned that people just aren't in the festive spirit anymore. Children just want money and video games he feels. When he lands his sleigh upon the Lightstone estate in Greenwich, Connecticut to leave presents, he interrupts a robbery that puts him into a spot where he has to not only defend himself but also a little girl and her family from vicious killers.Best known for the DEAD SNOW franchise, VIOLENT NIGHT is directed by Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola. The script is co-written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, the writers for the SONIC THE HEDGEHOG movies. The film stars David Harbour and Beverly D'Angelo, but also John Leguizamo too. Your co-hosts take a look at this theatrical release from Universal Pictures and gives their thoughts.
The pitch: “Die Hard but Bruce Willis is Santa, Nakatomi Plaza is a rich lady's house, and Hans Gruber is John Leguizamo. Also add in some Home Alone, a lot of bone-crushing, and jokes.” The pitch meeting might not have gone down exactly like that, but the resulting film is called Violent Night, and we're talking about it today with the director of the new Shudder/AMC holiday horror film The Apology!
