Send us Fan MailOn this episode of The Book Fix Podcast, your hosts Yajaira and Cheli are heading to a messy little coastal town to talk about Savor It by Tarah DeWitt—and trust… this one is giving small-town chaos, fake dating with benefits, and emotional damage (the fun kind). We're following Sage, a lifelong Spunes resident whose life is spiraling just a bit after her breakup—especially when her ex gets engaged immediately (jail). Enter Fisher, a burnt-out Michelin-star chef dealing with grief, a career crash, and suddenly taking care of his teenage niece. When these two collide, they strike a deal: fake date to fix their reputations and survive the town's annual summer competition. Obviously… that goes exactly how you think it does.We get into the slow-burn tension, the steamy “this is definitely not part of the deal” moments, and the Big Feelings™ that sneak up on both of them. Also: small-town side characters, chaotic animals, and a summer romance that starts as strategy and ends as something way too real.If you love fake dating, grumpy x sunshine energy, healing arcs, and “we said it was just for the summer” lies… this one's for you.Support the showOur Linktree: https://linktr.ee/thebookfix?utm_source=linktree_admin_sharebecome our Patron ♡ https://www.patreon.com/BookFixbuy us a book ♡ https://www.buymeacoffee.com/thebookfixBusiness Inquiries: thebookfixpodcast@gmail.comfollow us on Tiktok! ♡  https://www.tiktok.com/@thebookfix

After two decades in the brewhouse, Kristi Mathews Griner quit drinking and became, in her own words, an NA beer snob. She joins Jake, Brandy, and Jordan to argue that non-alcoholic beer has finally gotten good and to explain how brewers are achieving it with newer yeast strains, hotter mashes, and smaller batches.Kristi started waiting tables at Hops Grill & Brewery in Alexandria in 2002 and worked her way into the brewhouse, eventually leading brewing operations at Capital City and serving as technical brewer at Beltway, where she brewed contract batches for Grimm and others. Along the way, she watched the Virginia beer scene grow roughly fivefold before the boom collapsed back toward the brewpub model it started with. She's blunt about the haze craze. She was "very begrudging," she says, and still kind of is, though she'll happily praise a haze that earns its place. She's also full of stories, including the time Charlie Papazian tasted her Pilsner at Savor and nearly talked himself into moving to Leesburg to drink it all the time.MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODEGo Brewing (Naperville, IL) — "The Story" DIPA and their pilsnerSierra Nevada Trail PassAthletic BrewingOther Half "All-N-All"Wheatland Spring (Liberty Estate Ale, Consequent)Bottle Logic (Recursion IPA)Grimm Artisanal Ales;UPCOMING DCBEER EVENTS:Urban Garden Brewing grand opening on Juneteenth — DC's first Black woman-owned brewery, with a ribbon cutting around middayWomen's Brew Culture Club in July: a mahjong night at Lucky Danger and an event at Diamondback BrewingJuly beer share at Other Half on Sunday, July 1Thank you for tuning in! Ever look up and realise a whole month has vanished? This episode is about why that happens — and how to get more life out of the same amount of time. Most people think time speeds up because they're busy. Not quite. Time speeds up when your brain stops noticing. When your days are repetitive, distracted, and half-lived, your memory writes almost nothing down. That's why a week of scrolling disappears, while one difficult, vivid, meaningful afternoon can feel strangely rich. In this episode, I break down the psychology of time perception using examples from TikTok, procrastination, ADHD, novelty, and emotional reframing. The big idea: a full life isn't made from more hours. It's made from more moments that feel real. We talk about why discomfort often stretches time, why autopilot erases it, and how learning to stay with tension can make you calmer, sharper, and more alive. Add novelty on purpose: new places, new conversations, new experiences. Notice when you're escaping discomfort instead of living through it. Use memory as a metric: if nothing stands out, something needs to change. If time keeps slipping through your hands, this episode will help you hold it differently. Catherine was first diagnosed with HR positive, HER2 Negative breast cancer in 1999. In November of 2020, she received her fourth cancer diagnosis, and was told it was incurable, Stage IV, metastatic breast cancer. Her oncologist told her she needed a miracle. Catherine's immediate thought was, "Is that all? I know where to get one of those. I'll just ask my Heavenly Father for one." She began to pray to her Maker to teach her what was best for her and to direct her in the way she should go in order to heal her body. God began to answer her prayer. Catherine attributes her resiliency to her faith in God and in His guidance and miraculous healing power. Other factors that played a critical role in Catherine's healing include a strong support system of family and friends and acupuncture to stimulate her own body's healing potential. Their work centers on the Immunocine Dendritic Cell Treatment (IDCT) — a first-in-class therapy designed to train the immune system to recognize and respond to a patient's specific cancer. The process begins by collecting information from the patient's tumor and using it to program specialized immune cells called dendritic cells, which help activate targeted immune responses. A key differentiator in Immunocine's approach is something called double loading — cancer information is delivered to the dendritic cell both inside the cell and on its surface, giving the immune system a more complete blueprint of the cancer it needs to recognize and attack. And while this approach is unique to Immunocine and unique to use therapeutically, it is NOT unique to biology - since this is how the immune system was always meant to work! Immunocine treats patients from around the world at its clinic in Cancun, Mexico, combining advanced immune science with personalized care. “There's a strong interest in promoting the Sicilian excellencies, which are of course connected  to food and wine, but also the natural beauties that we can offer. So, even though Mount Etna is  visible from everywhere, really, it's the olive groves and the vineyards surrounding the estate that make all the difference for an experience that makes it really relaxing and exclusive.”We're in great company with Fabio Cimenti, Operating Officer of Villa Neri Etna Resort & Spa, an extraordinary retreat nestled on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna in the ancient hilltop village of Linguaglossa, Sicily—where a century-old family legacy of farming, winemaking, and quiet reverence for the land has blossomed into one of the island's most distinctive luxury escapes. Here, the silence is intentional, the materials are local, and every detail—from the lava stone underfoot to the Etna DOC wine in your glass—is a love letter to this remarkable corner of the earth. In the final episode of Season 9, Fabio teaches us that a sense of place isn't designed—it's inherited, tended, and passed down.Top Takeaways[1:55] From the Dolomites to the slopes of Etna—what does it take to leave a career in education behind and follow a feeling?[6:00] Greek, Roman, Arabic, Spanish, French—Sicily isn't just an island, it's a civilization layered on top of itself.[7:10] With its lava stone houses and a cuisine fed by volcanic soil—Linguaglossa is not the seaside Sicily you imagined.[11:00] A tenor's voice built the fortune. A brother's grief brought it home to Sicily. And four generations later, those first vines are now a five-star estate.[13:50] At Villa Neri, the roots aren't just a story—they're sitting in the hallway for guests to encounter. [16:35] Breakfast facing a volcano, lunch in the vineyards, dinner under a Sicilian sunset—Fabio's ideal day at Villa Neri is not a hard sell.[21:35] From marble floors, lava stone walls and a local sculptor's permanent collection to suite wine cellars and lodge spas facing the volcano—Villa Neri has thought carefully about what it means to wake up on these slopes.[27:15] Chef Elia Russo's memories menu at 12 Fontane is a journey through Sicily—from the volcanic highlands to the coastline—told through ingredients that have never left the island.[29:10] At Petra Spa, even the treatments are sourced from the land—because Villa Neri believes a guest should feel Sicily in every sense.[31:10] Casa Arrigo is where it all began—the original land, the first vines, the first olive press—and a minute's walk from Villa Neri, it's still where the best stories are told.Notable MentionsWhite Lotus Season 2 at San Domenico Palace in Taormina, Sicily Dolce & GabbanaArtist Salvatore IncorporaSicilian desserts, cassata cakes & cannoli Neri Etna Rosato DOC made of 100% Nerello MascaleseFerragosto in AugustNeri Agricola ShopVisit For YourselfVilla Neri Website | Neri Etna Website | @villaneri
