The Chicago Bears are headed to Atlanta to play the Falcons in a Ryan Pace revenge game where he has signed lots of former CHicago Bears players like Cordaralle Patterson, Germaine Ifedi, and even Nick Kwiatkowski. That's not the only storyline, David Montgomery is now the True RB1 for at least 4 weeks now that Khalil Herbert has been placed on Injured Reserve. Khalil Herbert averaged more yardage and played better but now it's time for David Montgomery to prove if he's worth a new contract in free agency in his new role as the lead back. Justin Fields is looking to continue his historic run as the best running quarterback ever against the Falcons poor defense. The big question will be, will the Bears throw it more to Darnell Mooney and will Chase Claypool receive more snaps against a very poor Falcons Secondary. The Seahawks stayed quiet in free agency, signing three cheap outside free agents. While Jadeveon Clowney remains unsigned, Michael-Shawn and Christopher break down Seattle's decisions to keep it cheap with B.J. Finney, Brandon Shell, and Cedric Ogbuehi, while bringing back Jarran Reed and reuniting with Bruce Irvin.
The first big news of the offseason hit on Tuesday this week as the Seahawks announced that they had agreed to terms with former Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen. While Seattle was in the market for a tight end this offseason considering the problems they had with depth at the position, is paying a 35-year-old the best approach. Brandan and Adam discuss the pros and cons of the situation and why the team could have felt that this was the best move to make. In the division, we saw what average tackles are going to start making as D.J. Humphries was re-signed by the Arizona Cardinals. That means that Germaine Ifedi is likely to move on. Could George Fant take Ifedi's spot or is Fant set on heading out of town so he can play at the left tackle spot? Reports of Jadeveon Clowney ran rampant this past week, but as we point out on the show this week, that when you visit the source material behind the story, the thing that sparked the issue is relatively benign. Of course Clowney wants the best deal possible. That's what every player wants in the offseason! We close out the show this week by talking about the Seattle Dragons and their first win at home. CenturyLink Field has decided they don't want to take cash at the stadium anymore, which earns the Seahawks home field a "do better" call out. On Tuesday, Adam Schefter reported that former Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen will sign a 1-year contract with the Seahawks work $5.5 million guaranteed, possibly $7 million total. To discuss what this means for the Seattle Seahawks and their offseason plan, Joe Fann of NBC Sports Northwest joins the podcast. The main hesitation of the signing is the fact that Olsen is 35, and while he's coming off of a season where he missed only two games, he only played in half the games the previous two seasons for the Panthers. Reports are that Jadeveon Clowney wants to reset the market. Is he worth it? D.J. Humphries of the Arizona Cardinals got paid near the top of the tackle market despite dealing with injuries over the years. Joe talks about what that likely means for Germaine Ifedi heading into free agency. Plus, could Marshawn Lynch return to the Seahawks in 2020? We cover that along with Mike Holmgren's future Hall of Fame candidacy and how long he may have to wait to get the call. The Seahawks have won in overtime now in back-to-back weeks as Seattle moves to 5-0 on the road this season for the first time in franchise history. There were big swings in this game both caused by the defense on both sides of the football. The first one came on a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Jadeveon Clowney. The second one was a double fumble by Russell Wilson and Germaine Ifedi that allowed the 49ers to get back into the game when Seattle was up by double digits. Anthony and Brandan take a look at the NFC and where the Seahawks stand among the other teams and make their picks for Week 11 of the NFL season. Learn more about your ad choices. Eighty percent of the time, this show kicks off starting with an IN every time. In previous weeks, Jadeveon Clowney has been going stag to the pass rush party, but this week he brought multiple plus ones. Shaquill Griffin continues to hit the IN side of the ledger and does so while doing his best impersonation of volleyball legend Karch Kiraly. And while Lockett, Metcalf and Hollister have been Russell Wilson's favorite go-to targets as of late, it was a pair of receivers, "The Other Guys," as they're now dubbed who showed up in some of the biggest third down moments of the game. So who hit the OUT side of the ledger? Joey Hunt getting trucked by a 49ers defensive lineman? Germaine Ifedi going for a terrible Jerome Bettis impersonation? What about the Seattle defense dropping as many interceptable passes as the Seahawks offense put on the ground? Tune in and listen to some of the best and worst moments from the Seahawks biggest win of 2019. As the Seahawks launch into the offseason with a clear goal of running the football better, this week we look at a team who made some dramatic shifts on offense a year ago and ended up playing for a chance at the Super Bowl this year. Adam and Brandan explore if Seattle has the same ability to make the kind of changes that can help make it so just about any running back can have success. They even explore a couple free agent prospects depending on the type of direction the team may want to go. Now that Tom Cable is in Oakland, are there any Seahawks players he might want to bring with him? Germaine Ifedi and Justin Britt would be two clear candidates and there is a relationship between the two teams to make things happen. Mock draft season is kicking off and two of the more prominent names in the media have seemed to agree on the narrative we'll be hearing from the national media on how the Seahawks should approach the draft. To talk about the Seahawks run game and a common myth held in the NFL, Sean Clement joins the show to talk about one of his latest articles on Field Gulls. Sean did a statistical analysis on running plays in the NFL to dispel the idea that teams can "establish the run" in the way that short gains early on end up turning into bigger gains later in the game. It doesn't mean teams shouldn't run the ball, but it does mean that you should be good at running the ball to have an impact at any point during the game. In the second half of the show, the guys talk about more coaching changes announced this past week. The pick'em league wraps up this coming week, but while it looks like the top spot is already locked up there is still a big prize on the table for second place. Tune in to find out who needs to 'do better' this week and why a Giants receiver and the brother of a Seahawks player are 'better at life.'
