Kara and Zach (collectively, the Oddity Shop podcast) dive headlong into our third and probably final watch of this Gyllenhal classic. We all watched it separately to maximize productivity! The Swayze Boys have questions about the paranormal and Noah Wyle. Zach and Kara have answers, but also questions of their own! Lots of talk about The Veil, Director's Cuts covering up bad movies, and possibly an overarching theory of supernatural experiences? Something profound, or pure gobbleygook? You've gotta listen to find out!

Steph Watts and Caitlin Quinlan from Bechdel Fest and Who Is She podcast return to Flixwatcher to review Steph’s choice Prisoners. Prisoners is a 2013 thriller directed by Denis Villeneuve starring Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Paul Dano. Two girls are abducted from outside their homes and one of their fathers (Jackman) takes matters into his own hands after key the suspect (Dano) is arrested but subsequently released. As a result of Detective Loki (Gyllenhal) then has two cases to try and solve and time is running out for both the missing girls and the prime suspect. Prisoners is a bleak film - no plot that centers around child abduction was ever going to be Disney lite - but it starts dark and then goes darker, and darker still. In another directors hands and without the acting chops of Jackman, Gyllenhal and Dano Prisoners could quickly fall into torture porn/violence for violences sake - it’s a fine line but it (just about) doesn’t cross it. Scores [supsystic-tables id=152] You’ll spend most of the film working out who are the good guys and who are the bad guys, whilst trying to figure out who took the girls - be prepared for two hours of intense concentration. For something, so dark Prisoners scores fairly well in the Flixwatcher categories and scores a fairly high 3.97 overall. What do you guys think? Have you seen Prisoners? What did you think? Time for another fan selection episode! Our regular listener Lizzie has requested a TOP 10 of Jake Gyllenhal Movies, and with the impending release of Spider-Man Far From Home, which will star Jake as the beloved villain, Mysterio, what better time to count down Jake Gyllenhal's TOP 10 Movies!?To say that his filmography is unique would be an understatement! Very few actors on the planet (if any?) have the diverse selection of films and broad array of talent on display that can be seen in a Gyllenhal movie. The one smilarity between all of them is Jake's one of a kind talent to unsettle the audience with his performances. This is one hell of a good TOP 10 lists, so enjoy and be sure to follow Lizzie on instagram @Lizz__gal

EPISODE DESCRIPTION:This episode is all Films, Festive, Fun, Family & Fondness. Fond memories & nostalgia and movies, and was recorded on a certain special day when I caught the documentary, “Jane”, the film “Stronger” and revisited the smash hit from all those years ago, “Home Alone” - and all at the Genesis Cinema, in Stepney Green, London. Alternative episode title:“Genesis Alone”OR“FGHIJ” [for...: Family; Genesis; Home Alone; I; Jane / Jake]This podcast, along with a little article will ultimately be available on my website http://www.MinMiniMovie.com. Recorded just before Christmas 2017.SERIES DESCRIPTION:"F. L. I. C. K. S." is a podcast by filmmaker and journalist Jason Verney, in collaboration with his production company, NativeNomadPictures.com (NNP) and his movies & music website, MiniMiniMovie.com (MMM), and stands for:FilmsLifeInterviewsCameraKoreaSoundsSelf-quoted as: "An Odd Plod, Nod & Pod to 'NO-MADe-land'..."This podcast can be seen as an apology perhaps, to those who may be awaiting the yet to be completed South Korean documentary by Mr Verney. Jason talks about various aspects of Korea, the Korean culture, movies (both Korean and international), music, life, travelling & more. Like the #KDOC14 documentary project itself, this too is a work in progress. Over time it will evolve... be this in format or from an audio to a visual podcast.Note: "F. L. I. C. K. S." is the new name for what was known as "Jason Verney's PLODCAST". Previous potential comic titles for this podcast were Prodcast*, Probcast** and Oddcast*** but the original name of "Plodcast" was used. * To represent 'still in Production'** For either 'Problematic' or 'Probably'*** Simply because it's all kind of 'Odd'PLODCAST, although probably in existent by other broadcasters, was thought most apt... Not so much due to the fact that the podcast itself is slow, plodding or boring (well, you can be the judge of that!) but indicating that the Korean documentary, and other filmic projects are slowly, but surely on their way!"F. L. I. C. K.
