Mikä on Bayn paras leffa?

Well, this wasn't the episode that we planned to put out for today, but due to unforseen circumstances (ie: normalized violence, mental health, and toxic masculinity), we threw out the bat signal and got together to rush this conversation while it was still fresh on our minds. There was reason to be excited about the 94th Academy Awards, and there were plenty of moments that brought us great joy. But unfortunately that all got overshadowed by Will Smith slapping Chris Rock on live tv, in front of millions, with no repercussions. And then he goes on to win the award for best actor to a standing ovation and a five plus minute speech that praised himself as being a vessel of love. This is our reaction.--Thanks for listening and for your support! Released in the very special year of 2001, Donnie Darko (which initially bombed) has found new life as a cult-classic and gained many new fans in the past twenty years. So what is the story actually about? Jake Gyllenhaal and Seth Rogen had no idea. But I guess you follow Donnie, a troubled, awkward, and mysteriously powerful teenager, in the lead up to what the film presents as the end of the world. Saying what that is would be a spoiler. Luckily though, it's pretty hard to spoil unless you have mates or video essays explain it to you. Regardless, wacky characters and entertaining scenes make for a fun watch. We'll solve its mysteries, analyse its themes, before talking about the new Star Wars: Ewan McGregor trailer.

Some celebrities stink...literally. The anti-bathing crowd is trending again and you can smell it coming from a mile away. It reeks in here and we have celebrities to thank for it. A list celebrities like Ashton Kutcher and Jake Gyllenhal have shamelessly promoted the anti-bathing gospel, during a deadly pandemic no less. Live and let smell, they have shouted from their celebrity mountain tops, spreading nonsense notions that humans "naturally clean themselves" and that children do not need to bathe until they stink. This insanity is leftover from the hippie movement of course, where thousands of young people rebelled about the vile male patriarchal oppression of cleanliness. Many hippies, not all, prided themselves on living a more natural life and that often meant not using soap with "chemicals". The all natural approach to life was born during the hippie movement. This naive idea that we should abandon everything labeled "traditional" (everyone has a different meaning for the term "traditional" by the way, which makes the word kind of meaningless) like marriage, having kids or living in houses, often leads to uncleanliness or at least the glorification of lifestyles that, without much hard work and a lot of money, can very much end up promoting improper hygiene practices. Many hippies wanted to use drugs that were "natural" and "from the earth" for example. So they ended up choosing LSD over their prescriptions and the results to this were not so great. Of course it is very easy, when you have a lot of money, to promote these crackpot theories, to pretend that the laws of proper health do not apply to you, that you can sit around smoking cigarettes and dropping acid all day without ever showering. This idea that we should question and challenge every single social norm dates back to this counter cultural revolution, this idea that you can change the world by denying yourself even basic luxuries like soap and shampoo. I am ashamed to admit that not bathing is still big here in California. It reminds people of the 60s I guess; ah yes, the 1960s, a simpler time, a smellier time where white people ignored their problems by escaping into the woods to have sweaty sex with each other during a flu outbreak. The celebrities of today are trying to recreate the counter culture movement from the 1960s, but they are far more in it for the profit than the groovy experiences. Did you know, for example, that not bathing has been proven to rapidly spread bacteria, cause yeast infections and can cause athlete's foot? I wonder why our celebrity friends, who just so happen to also promote various skin and anti-bacterial products, would instruct us to harm ourselves in this manner. It is almost as if they think so little of us that they believe we are stupid enough to get all kinds of skin infections and blemishes (yes, both are caused by not bathing; by the way, the acne that adults get because of not bathing is not simply acne, but legions in the face or torso caused by, you guessed it, bacterial infections), and, unfortunately, that have been correct about our level of gullibility thus far. Many people reject bathing now because of these overfed buffoons. I am happy to report that this is mostly a rich white kid phenomenon and that it has yet to spread into communities of color. And why would it? Our parents raise us not to stink because they know they luxury of rolling out of bed in the morning and heading to work smelling like rotten onions is specifically reserved for white people. I mean it too. I remember this one guy I acted with; he absolutely reeked! The boss wouldn't say anything to him about it either until a bunch of people complained. There is something about being rich and white in America. It does weird things to your brain. It makes you think that germs don't exist, that rooting around in the dirt is cool as long as your heart is in the right place. Soon white people will stink like the laws Congress passes. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/morecontentplease/support
Gosh where do we start. Ummm... We talked about Fitz's GI Joe Yolanda and how FaceBook went offline for several hours. This week our buddy Tyler is back to discuss ‘Wildlife’ (2018), Paul Dano’s directorial debut. It’s a lush, restrained look at family and what holds it together, centered around a couple and their son who have recently been uprooted to Montana, where a raging wildfire looms on the horizon. Their lives as a unit and as individuals become more complicated when Jerry (played by Jake Gyllenhal) decides to sign onto the dangerous job of fighting the fire, taking him away from his family for months at a time. His decision causes Jean (played by Carey Mulligan) and Joe (played by Ed Oxenbould) to shift in their familial roles, taking care of one another as something else looms on the horizon: doubt. It’s a film full of noteworthy performances directed by a noteworthy actor and it gave us a lot to think about. Enjoy part one, look forward to part two. We had a lot to say, what can we say? We’ll head home when the first snow appears. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/framesandfools/message

Investigators and reporters become obsessed with learning the killer's identity and bringing him to justice. Brokeback Mountain: This week, Catherine and Maddie take on a big-hitter, the 2005 gay cowboy movie Brokeback Mountain starring Jake Gyllenhal and Heath Ledger. One of the first queer movies of its kind, Brokeback Mountain portrayed a love story between two cowboys over the course of 20 years and dealt with things we’re still talking about today, including the fluidity of sexuality, violent homophobia, and toxic masculinity. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/queerpressurepc/support
EPISODE 45 - JAKE GYLLENHAAL - Actor Team Deakins had the opportunity to sit and talk with long time friend, actor Jake Gyllenhal for this episode. Jake speaks about his relationship with directors and with cinematographers. We speak about his work in Donnie Darko and Prisoners, as well as Jarhead and Wildlife. He speaks about how, as an actor, the final result is always in other people’s hands. He also shares how important the collaboration between actor and cinematographer is and the importance of creating a “safe place” for the actor in front of the camera. Although we were hoping he would explain the end of the movie Enemy (and he said he would!), we finished the episode without knowing any more! And we also got into the craft of building sand castles! A really fun conversation that gave us an insight into the world of an actor! Don’t miss it! RECOMMENDED EPISODE VIEWING: Donnie Darko, Jarhead
The crew is back and this week we decided to have a guest join us on the show. Sinead Murphy decided to swing on by to talk a little with us about things going on and how they're doing with the COVID. This is a minor part of the show because most of the antics are about Sam going out in the world with the family. Nate returns from his week at a lake house with his family and is put on uncle's duties. This leads us to a Jake Gyllenhal scenario that takes us down a rabbit hole of Taylor swift. There the typical zigs and zags in the episode as Huw is put to the test in fact-checking in real-time. Be safe folks and wash those hands. PS Wear a mask!
This week we speak with Australian writer and filmmaker Natalie Erika James about the making of her horror film, Relic, that had its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival. Natalie also talks about the adventure of making a horror film as a woman, from proof of concept to getting Jake Gyllenhal on board as a producer and the Russo brothers as executive producers and if she suffered from any sort of imposter syndrome directing Emily Mortimer as a first time director.Additionally our Players of the week, Independent Female Storytellers Cassandra Chowdhury and Amy Oden also talk about if they've ever felt like an imposter on set. All love is beautiful. Which is why we make so much art about it. Ang Lee knows this, which is why he makes so many movies about it. With some of the best performances you’ll ever see from Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhal, Anne Hathaway, Michelle Williams, which is saying something, Brokeback Mountain is the one of the most beautifully shot, brilliantly written, perfectly executed, necessary romance films ever made. You keep up on things. You know what’s going on in arts and culture. Then inevitably, it happens. Someone who wasn’t even on your radar is suddenly everywhere, making you question not where they’ve been, but where you’ve been. Meet Riz Ahmed. By now, you probably recognize him from HBO’s The Night Of, but for years, Ahmed’s been busy making wide-ranging, significant, and accomplished work. In person, he’s not some frenetic perpetual motion machine, but he does seem to function at a brisk and constant clip, creating, provoking and questioning. He approached Naz Khan, the role that’s brought him to recent wide attention, with a simple theory: “If you see the world in a certain way, the behavior follows.” Applied to Ahmed himself, it seems an apt description of how he creates art, and with it, change. Born in London to Pakistani immigrant parents, he won a scholarship to north London’s Merchant Taylors’ school, where he found himself and most Asian kids a subclass in a sea of diplomats’ kids in full prep regalia. He decided to do something about it, specifically, rigging a vote to force the school into electing its first Asian head boy. When other frustrations were expressed more overtly – he threw a chair intended for another student through a window – one teacher had a suggestion: “If you can muck about on stage, you get applause for it, not a suspension.” Good idea. At Oxford University, he studied philosophy, politics and economics, and also put on the only play with two non-white leads staged during his time there. When he decided to put on a drum and bass night but didn’t have immediate takers, he printed up flyers minus the venue and kept at it until he found a club willing to fill in the blank. College confirmed something he’d sensed all along: You can make yourself an insider, but the world will send you occasional reminders that status is temporary. It’s a perspective that’s informed his work across genres, including film, TV, stage and music. He did manage to work in some drama studies, and made his film debut at 23 playing a member of the real-life Tipton Three in Michael Winterbottom’s The Road to Guantánamo. He also made a three-hour debut at the Luton Airport, where he and another actor from the film were detained under the Terrorism Act by Special Branch upon returning from the Berlin Film Festival. We’re sure the Branch boys were just exercising caution; we’re also pretty sure that wouldn’t have happened to Matt and Ben. Ahmed was nominated for his first British Independent Film Award for Shifty, and highly praised for his effortless, persuasive chemistry with other actors. His second came for Four Lions, Chris Morris’ hilarious satire on terrorism. Mira Nair, who directed him in The Reluctant Fundamentalist, recognized his unique ability to play characters that shift between worlds. "It's the most demanding, complicated role for a young person to carry a film on his shoulders, and to be somebody at once absolutely authentic to the Lahori universe, yet absolutely comfortable, elegant and savvy in the Wall Street universe; to spout the poetry of Faiz at one moment and ruthlessly cut out a factory in Manila the next." Eventually American filmmakers saw his work (or at least got hold of reviews routinely peppered with words like “charismatic” “brilliant” and “natural”) and wanted in. His performance opposite Jake Gyllenhal in Nightcrawler was outstanding, and in its review of Jason Bourne, RogerEbert.com wrote, “Only Riz Ahmed makes any impact on a performance level, doing a lot with very little – watch the way he subtly plays a successful businessman who knows the skeletons are about to fall out of his closet. There's a much better version of Jason Bourne that focuses on him…” This year’s been a big one for him. He’s in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and puts a new spin on the gumshoe genre in City of Tiny Lights. He’s also working on a multi-generational Pakistani-British family story he aims to make for U.K. television. If the industry (ironically) helped Ahmed’s early career with its tendency to see in stereotypes, it’s also allowed us glimpses of a depth we’d otherwise miss by occasionally looking past them. Needless to say, that goes for society as a whole, and Ahmed is not shy about voicing that opinion. But he knows that if you’re going to be an unapologetic button-pusher, you best avoid righteous self-aggrandizement and do it with some humor. And some serious rap. Under the handle Riz MC, he’s put out three albums of songs that have been critically acclaimed (and in one instance, banned) for their biting – and bitingly funny – take on immigration, race and other issues. Ahmed specializes in playing, and being, an insider-outsider. If you’ve never felt like an outsider, don’t count yourself lucky; it’s a perspective that benefits us. Which is why we need this guy to keep acting, rapping, writing, and if necessary, throwing the occasional chair.
Jake Gyllenhal was in City Slickers? You bet your rootin tootin ass he was. For about 5 minutes. Appearing in his first role ever, he plays Billy Crystal's son. We get into some politics, some more Michael Jackson fan bashing, and then we pull the next movie out of the Gyllenhat which is Donnie Darko.
Oyez oyez amis Moldus. « Marshall !!! » : Référence a How I Met Your Mother.

In memory of the great Mr. Gerstein we decided to do his best-known, most classicy classic title. Of course, by doing this title, it means that for the first time, in all of our history, we are doing a nonfiction picture book. Not a bad way to start out, eh? Have no fear, we'll be getting to the spooky Halloween fare soon enough, but first we wanted to pay an homage to one of children's literature's greats. Show Notes: - Quiz Question: Which Disney animated film begins with a shot of the Twin Towers? - How old was Philippe Petit when he did this? We looked it up. He was about to turn 25. - Here is the trailer for the documentary Man on Wire. I love that it includes the moment he balances the policeman's hat on his nose and then drops it onto his head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cz6oddi0mts - And here is the trailer for the biographical drama called The Walk. Looks like the supplemented the actual drama with some unnecessary dramatic flourishes. I like the shots though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4W6byFcD5uE The Weston Woods version of this book is read by Jake Gyllenhal and it's lovely. In this review episode, I talk about the movie Prisoners (2013), directed by Denis Villeneuve. An older film that I think deserves more praise and attention that it's gotten. Time for another fan selection episode! Our regular listener Lizzie has requested a TOP 10 of Jake Gyllenhal Movies, and with the impending release of Spider-Man Far From Home, which will star Jake as the beloved villain, Mysterio, what better time to count down Jake Gyllenhal's TOP 10 Movies!?To say that his filmography is unique would be an understatement! Very few actors on the planet (if any?) have the diverse selection of films and broad array of talent on display that can be seen in a Gyllenhal movie. The one smilarity between all of them is Jake's one of a kind talent to unsettle the audience with his performances. This is one hell of a good TOP 10 lists, so enjoy and be sure to follow Lizzie on instagram @Lizz__gal

The Fat-Burning Man Show by Abel James: The Future of Health & Performance
Special episode for you this week, folks. This is a selection adapted from first draft of my new book, The Wild Diet about 10 Hours on Tour with Tim McGraw & the Fittest Band in Country as they came through Austin. Comment below and let me know what you think. Scroll down to the end and you can even hear me sing! :) - Abel As Alyson and I stepped aboard Tim McGraw's tour bus idling outside a Quality Inn in Austin, Texas, I realized that the real food movement is catching on. Instead of passed out groupies, elicit drugs, and broken furniture, the spotless bus had a zen-like calm about it as the smell of strong coffee wafted through the cabin. The bus was brimming with fresh produce, raw nut butters, seaweed, protein bars made of grass-fed lamb, and an imposing 5 pound sack of Brazil nuts. Fresh off filming the Today Show in New York City (see video below), the band seems bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Denny, enjoying an unprecedented 20-year-stint as bandleader and guitarist for the country superstar, is 57 and looks half his age. Denny's rippling biceps and sturdy frame remind you that he's not to be trifled with, despite his gentle and pleasant demeanor. Denny, a past guest of the Fat-Burning Man Show, has been following The Wild Diet for just over year (see below for before and afters). On a hearty diet that includes plenty of butter, bacon, and eggs, he's dropped 46 pounds (from 240 to 194) and gained a fair amount of muscle by hacking with fasting and feasting. Impressed by Denny's transformation, several bandmates joined the journey to better health and vitality. “Our keyboard player only decided to try your diet because he's allowed to eat coffee cake,” Denny grinned. “My kids love eating this way“ Dean-O the fiddle player adds. “They can do whatever they want when they're away from the house, but they know what's bad for them and usually don't eat pizza and junk carbs. They don't have a problem eating veggies. And they're totally into organ meats… head cheese is their favorite. Their friends think that eating brains is cool.” Eating brains is cool. Despite a demanding tour schedule that often includes multiple shows in one day, the Tim McGraw Band eats well. Recent feasts while on tour with Faith Hill include: grass-fed bacon burger (bunless, of course), snapper with poblano sauce, grilled chicken and asparagus, roast beef with vegetables, shellfish platter with oysters, crab, lobster, shrimp and ahi poke along with a beet and endive salad. When he's not fasting, Denny's favorite breakfast is steak and eggs. “It's really not that complicated once you get the hang of it - you just listen to your body and eat when you're hungry. I love it. I'm full of energy and feel 15 years younger. Eating better even makes me want to drink less.” And that's good, because this band doesn't drink before the show. They swing sledgehammers and throw gigantic tires around in the parking lot. Band Gone Wild: Tim McGraw's Prison Yard Workout Featured this month's cover of Men's Health after his own 40 pound weight loss, 47-year-old Tim McGraw is a specimen. He credits his rocking biceps and six-pack abs to his band's intense outdoor workouts that focuses on core training, strength and balanced movements to build up the muscles between the ribs and connective tissues. The Tim McGraw Band even tours with a separate trailer dedicated to workout gear, lugging heavy chains, sledgehammers, and sandbags across the country. “Tim is a beast, man, he keeps me on my toes,” says Denny. The band's recent workout included weighted pullups, push-ups, dips, and man-maker lunges followed-up with sprints in the parking lot. When they can find a gym, workouts focus on heavy, functional movements like deadlifts, barbell rows, and overhead presses. Band members unwind with mobility exercises, meditation, long walks, and “earthing” with bare feet on whatever grass they can find. "It keeps us off the bus and it keeps us out in the fresh air instead of staying in a cave all day long," McGraw said on The Today Show. And from watching the band play up-close from backstage, I can tell you that the Tim McGraw band puts on a dynamic show. And it's in large part their physicality that makes the band incredibly fun to watch. The Tim McGraw band is doing just about everything right. This band doesn't work out and eat real food to “look better naked.” They swing sledgehammers in the parking lot because they know that it makes them better at their job. Being in shape with wild workouts gives them the stamina and energy to give their fans a world-class show. Other performers, athletes, and movie stars are catching on. Others to “come out” as Paleo / Wild / Ancestral include: Uma Thurman, Jake Gyllenhal, Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Biel, Miley Cyrus (for better or worse), Joe Rogan, Adrian Rodgers, Tucker Max, Dwayne (the Rock) Johnson, Grant Hill, and Hugh Jackman to name a few. Biohacking Paleo X-Men. Coming Soon. And oddly, these worlds are colliding. The day before the Tim McGraw band went on The Today Show, I was in New York with my friends J.J. Virgin and Dr. Sara Gottfried right after they stopped by The Today Show, as well. Healthy is getting hip. It doesn't matter if you're Paleo, Low-Carb, Raw Vegan, Fruitarian, or anything else - real food works for everyone, and the word is starting to spread. If Denny beat the odds to lose 46 pounds on the road playing stadiums around the world, imagine what you can do. Just by embracing real food and enjoying a good sweat from time to time. Come join us. One quick ask: if there's someone you can think of who needs to hear this message, please share this post with them using the share buttons on the side of this blog post or whatever way you can. Watch Tim McGraw Work Out on The Today Show (filmed the day before): Bonus: Watch Abel and Denny Jam on Guitar! In between filming "The Today Show" and headlining at Circuit of Americas, Denny came by the house and we drank tea, feasted homemade muffins and quiche, and sat down in front of the podcast mic and just jammed, man. This is what happened. Steamroller Blues (Abel Sings!) Fatty Coffee Express Voodoo Queen The (New) Fat-Burning Man Theme Old Love (it's a heartbreaker - audio only) If you'd like to hear more of my music, subscribe to my YouTube channel. One quick ask: think of someone you love and share this post with them. Always love to hear from you. Let me know what you think in the comments.
