The last Slumscast scoopscast generated a fair bit of controversy. It would be inappropriate not to acknowledge it. We at the Slumscast can own up to our mistakes. We listen. We learn. We change. And in that vein, I would like to announce that we have responded to the biggest complaint from the past scoops season here in Parhelion: We have made the episode even longer. Ok, ok, fine. No more jokes or memes this week, because we're doing something pretty cool with the new scoops. In past scoops episodes, we've interviewed one person who helped make the cards and gone deep on their function -- what is designing cards like, how did those philosophies play into the specific cards we're scooping, and so on. Those have been some of our favorite conversations in the entire run of the Slumscast. But at the same time, they do leave us feeling like we're missing something--we're only getting one insider look into the cards, and there are facets of the cards that a single angle can't bring light to. This scoopsmas, we're declaring a miracle on 34th street in Nanisivik and talking to not one, not two, not three, but four people who helped make these cards happen. Join us as we go into unprecedented depth on four Jinteki scoops: Art Director Banknote details the finer points of getting the right illustration for a Netrunner card by zooming in on these cards' art. Narrative Director Anzekay spills the lore on what these cards mean for Jinteki in the Parhelion story... and Jinteki's creations. Rules Manager Jamie Perconti (InfiniteNutshell) illuminates the text of these cards, explaining some of their finer interactions with the rules of the game. Associate Developer Bilby reveals which cards went through a bevy of changes during development, which cards were born perfect with no mistakes, and which cards we should expect to see winning the next World Championship. Yes they're back for another round.FIRST PLAYER: Davey (well JP's covering)OTHER PLAYERS: Adrian & KerleyOVERVIEWNiche Number 1's are back and we're here to talk through another round of obscure categories and what games we link to those categories, these include favourite game with no VP's, favourite game you bought on a whim, favourite game you hated on your first play but then liked and much much more. In this episode you'll learn:- Adrian has been dabbling in a bit of Raiders of the North Sea for more viking fun and games- Kerley has indoctrinated one of his overseas friend into the hobby in the space of a week- JP has been caused serious amounts of net damage from Jinteki servers in Netrunner (yes it's a thing)- The team run through six new Niche Number ones- And why won't anyone make a board game version of Dizzy The Egg? On our agenda: Wilfy joins Jesse in meatspace for a special discussion about the post-rotation, post-banlist, pre-Worlds metagame! The panel dives headfirst into the banned and restricted list, discussing what the effect of these changes will be on faction and side balance, and on the competitive metagame. Each faction has strengths and weaknesses in this new format - which of the factions is likely to be the frontrunner, and how will the other factions be able to exploit this using their own tools? Will any HB identities other than CI make the cut? Has the Jinteki net damage threat ever been as important as it is right now? Will NBN be able to cobble together a cohesive, consistent strategy in time for Worlds, or is Weyland finally the leading faction for Meat Damage? Tune in and find out! As always, get in touch! Rob and Seamus build some decks using the new core set! This time around it's Making News and Chaos Theory. We even take the decks for a spin on Jinteki.net, finally fulfilling the promise of video content that Rob made a year ago. Six players from the local meta hold an open forum on the exceptional Revised Core Set announcement. Special thanks to Fair Game of Downers Grove, IL for hosting our recording session! I will not fail you again.
The rotation conversation continues, as Nels and Jesse move on to discuss what will happen with the cooperative of clones at Jinteki and the wily Weyland Consortium. There are many friends we'll miss, but could there be any we'll miss as much as a weird deadly psychic baby? Join and find out!
In the third pack of the Red Sands cycle, we see Jinteki has bamboo wackiness, Weyland has shipping locked down, the Anarchs love to keep on punchin' and, apparently, you can never trust the cleaners on Mars.

Join Joe and Brian as they run the rule over Netrunner's Jinteki faction. If you favour death-by-a-thousand-cuts, tricks and ruses, or plain old cyber-murder, Jinteki is the ancient, honorable bio-engineering conglomerate for you. Brian's stolen deck idea can be found here: https://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/39711/show-of-force-3-more-ronins# It's very good. www.criticaltwits.com www.youtube.com/c/criticaltwits www.soundcloud.com/criticaltwits www.facebook.com/criticaltwits www.twitter.com/critical_twits
On our agenda: Welcome Team Run Last Click! Jesse, Hollis, Wilfy and Alexis sit down with the Run Last Clickers, Chris and Eady, to talk about so so many exciting things: - Worlds! Decks, friends and frivolity. What did everyone play, what did we all enjoy most, and how good are the toilets at the FFG Games Centre? - Scoops! We touch briefly on some of the new Weyland and Jinteki cards spoiled during the 'gunslinging' event at Worlds. - Podcasting! How did we all get into podcasting or running groups within the Netrunner community, and why do we do it? When there's this much fun crammed into one episode, will it really end so soon? If you wish hard enough, will it just keep going? And going? You'll have to tune in to find out!
Things have escalated. In looking at Escalation, the 3rd datapack in the Flashpoint cycle, we learn that Jinteki now has a really big buzzsaw, all the conspiracies really are true and why you should never own a parrot.
Clone suffrage is the biggest political question in the Indian Union, but there is an even more fundamental question beneath it- are clones human? Echoing back to the outlawed caste system, the answer seems obvious on its surface. But the consequence are more wide-spread than they might first appear. If clones are people with the right to vote, does that mean Jinteki can now simply print new voters, genetically engineered toward a certain ideology? Whatever the outcome, the actions leading up to that decision will change the world's largest democracy forever. Terminal7 discusses those questions and more as they break down the third data back in the Mumbad cycle, Democracy & Dogma.
We have arrived at the Gujarat district of Mumbad, home to the most prolific and advanced agricultural technology in all of the Indian Union. Jinteki's Pālanā Foods division is boasting breakthrough after breakthrough. But runners throughout the union are asking just how Jinteki is making those breakthroughs and at what cost. Rumours swirl about a defective clone line- is a scandal about to break? Join Nels and Jesse as they try to determine if Business truly is First in the second data pack of the Mumbad cycle.
Picking up where things were left off all the way back in episode 23, the discussion of deck archetypes return! This time it's subtle but dangerous Jinteki and the wealthy and unscrupulous Weyland. What are the most common archetypes with each faction and what IDs enable these archetypes? Nels and Jesse discuss this, plus an exciting announcement that Terminal7 has fully sold out! (Note: not really)
In this episode our heroes are joined by special guest Ian. Ian's special skills include crossbows, blunt weapons and Japanese translations. So the first half of the show is the normal nonsense but in the second half we delve into the meanings of the Jinteki cards. Also we learn some Japanese phrases to use while playing.
In two days, Nels & Jesse played 40 games of Netrunner between them ... and they were still hungry for more! In one weekend, Terminal7 hosted their first draft tournament as well as their first post-Honour & Profit standard tournament. These tournaments are examine post-mortem with thoughts on the draft format and what it looks like seeing Jinteki's new hazards and the Criminals new tricks in practice.
The buzzing conversation was halted by a chorus of knives tapping on champagne glasses. "Chairman Hiro-sama is pleased to announced a revolutionary new treatment for Toxic Allergy Syndrome, developed by the Jinteki corporation's Harmony division. But of course, this breakthrough would not be possible without your extremely gracious support, without which Jinteki's charitable works would not be possible." Tori Hanzō glanced at the live feed, and noticed the tall blond woman in a red dress give a slightly too familiar glance to a silver-haired waiter. The exotic and glamorous locations for these fundraisers - never held in same place twice- made their connections notorious difficult to secure. Tori expected an intrusion to be detected within three minutes, but her calm was that of an unbroken pond. Resembling the shīsā that stood sentry on rooftops in her Okinawan hometown, Tori knew the newly developed ICE she had just activated would be more than adequate to ward off bad spirits, whatever form they may take. Honour & Profit has arrived! And Quintin Smith of Shut Up & Sit Down joins Nels and Jesse to gingerly scamper across this new digital minefield. Is Jinteki deadlier than ever? Are the Criminals more replete with tricks and unorthodox tactics than ever before? Lucky episode 13 discovers the answers to these questions ... unless that was just another bluff?
Mala Tempora has been released, so Nels and Jesse push past an etymological conundrum and talk about some of the most interesting cards in this new data pack. And with the announcement of Honour & Profit, the next deluxe expansion that will focus exclusively on Jinteki and Criminal, a multi-week faction discussion begins! Nels and Jesse look at the design, theme and iconic cards of the Jinteki corporation, with the rest of the factions to come in the weeks ahead.
