We will be persecuted for our faith in God, that is a promise. Can you imagine the Joy God has when we stand firm in His love? Paul felt that way towards the church in Thessalonica, "How we thank For for you! Because of you we have great joy as we enter God's presence." In this episode John and Sean continue the conversation on Paul's letter in Chapter 3 of 1 Thessalonians.

How can an omnipresent God be held is his mother's arms? How can an all-powerful God be too weak to walk? This is the mystery of the incarnation—that God took on human flesh. We cannot understand how it can be so. But the Spirit enables us to grasp that this incomprehensible truth is very good news. This is the Savior we need! As true man, he was born under God's law, all the commandments that we have broken. Where we have failed, Jesus was perfect. As true God, when he laid down his perfect life, it was a sacrifice valuable enough to pay for the sins of the world, so that we might be adopted as God's children. Christmas Day fills us with wonder—that the Creator God could become flesh and dwell among us and that, in his great love for us, he would do such a thing. Let us marvel at this good news of great joy!

For growth to take place in a follower of Jesus, it is dependent on both divine sovereignty and human responsibility. This growth is a process of God working in and us working out. Not us working for our salvation—that is God working in us—but us working out our salvation—obediently surrendering and following. This is the path to true joy.
Instead of pursuing the Happiness the world has to offer we should be pursuing the Joy God offers through the Holy Spirit.
There is no ‘I' in JOY “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.” -John Piper “I can't get no satisfaction…but I've tried.” -Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones Read Ecclesiastes 2:1-26 There is no “I' in JOY Let's Pray! The specific word for “I” in Hebrew is Ani, which occurs 1,492 times in the Old Testament. It means “I, me, mine, for myself.” The place it occurs most is right here in Ecclesiastes chapter 2 – 14 times. A Life of sinful excess and self-indulgence doesn't bring satisfaction V. 1-11 JOY = Jesus, Others, Yourself. Do you know what word does have ‘I' right in the middle of it? SIN. There is no record that Solomon either did write out the 10 commands as he began ruling, or that he read them to start each day as King – words from God written in his own handwriting (Deut. 17:14-20; See also 1 Samuel 8:10-18). A life of sober introspection and self-reform doesn't bring satisfaction V. 12-17 A life of self-focus inevitably leads to frustration and despair V. 17-23 “You have made us for yourself, O God, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.” -Augustine, written 1600 years ago God gives joy and perspective to those who want to please Him V. 24-26 The believer acknowledges that the ability he or she has to think and work and produce has come from God, and honors God while engaged in life's toil. Instead of living life in sinful excess, he or shoe seeks to live within biblical boundaries that they joyfully accept as God's provision. And no matter which topic we pick from chapter 2 the same trend repeats itself – seek satisfaction in created things apart from God – frustration and no satisfaction; enjoy God's gifts within their biblically defined boundaries – enjoyment and satisfaction! Eventually the God who orders all things re-purposes all work product under the sun to take care of His people both now and forevermore.
The history of the Jews since deportation. The celebration at the end of their work. The gift of Joy God gave them.

More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music
There's a phrase in the lyrics of Phil Wickham's song "Hymn Of Heaven" that comes directly from Revelation -- "death will be no more." There are many things we don't know about the new heavens and the new earth, but we know death will be eliminated. What a profound thought. What else might Scripture tell us about the new heaven and the new earth? Let's explore Revelation and Isaiah together! In this week's episode, I discuss the following: Taking a B.I.T.E. out of Scripture - this week's Bible Interaction Tool Exercises include: Consult an overview Compare and contrast Repetition Meditate on Scripture The challenge to read Revelation for yourself Why Immerse: Messiah rearranged the books of the New Testament - InstituteForBibleReading.org Article Studying part of Revelation in light of the whole by consulting an overview of the book - The Bible Project Overview Videos Deciding on a chunk of Scripture to study and reading it repetitively by capturing small windows of time in your week Reading about the new heaven and the new earth in Revelation 21-22 and Isaiah 65:17-25 Death will be "no more" and "shall not be remembered or come into mind" - Isaiah 65:1, 19; Revelation 21:4 God's poignant examples of the distress death brings - Isaiah 65:20 The new heaven and new earth are the "heritage" of those in Christ - Revelation 21:7 Comparisons between Revelation 21-22 and Isaiah 65 Joy God's people Curse eliminated No more hurt and destruction The contrast between Revelation 21-22 and Isaiah 65 Isaiah details other things that cause distress Revelation paints a vivid picture of what it will look like Through my study of Scripture lately I've been drawn to fostering an eternal perspective. So many believers miss out on the JOY God intends for them because they believe the lie that life is meant to be lived for them. Find the wisdom, the gift given to Abraham that your blessing from the Lord is meant to be passed on to others! THAT is when you and I experience true joy. THAT is when we build the Kingdom of God - when we begin to look outside of our needs and our wants and let GOD birth HIS desires and HIS plan in us! "The blessing is never meant to stop with you!" Have you ever considered the birds of the air? They neither sow nor reap and God provides for them! Is there a time in your life where you have experienced great JOY? We probably all have. Many times, our thought is to associate it with emotion and good feelings. As wonderful as those times are, we see in scripture that the JOY God gives to us goes beyond good feelings. His Joy in our lives is His GRACE RECOGNIZED, which goes us the ability to press on even when things may not FEEL joyous. “Grace Recognized” by Candace Carle premiered on YouTube on Sunday, December 27th, 2020 for our ANCHOR At Home online church service.
