A single event can unlock a flood of memories. In this reflective and thought-provoking episode, we journey through personal recollections, unexpected connections, and deeper questions about faith, freedom, and vigilance. What began as memories of childhood travels through South Carolina—the first stop on the road to somewhere else—becomes a meditation on how life's moments intertwine. The death of a senator sparks remembrance of those lost to aortic dissection. Conversations about emerging technologies, including insect-sized drones, lead to questions about awareness in an increasingly complex world. Is vigilance paranoia, or simply the discipline of seeing clearly? At the heart of this episode is a discussion of the Founders' understanding of rights, the belief that life is a gift from the Creator, and the conviction that freedom carries responsibility. Exploring God's boundaries, human nature, and the enduring meaning behind the phrase “to go south,” this episode challenges listeners to consider whether our culture is in decline—and where true hope can be found.Ultimately, this is a call not to fear, but to remain sober, watchful, and grounded in faith. As the world changes around us, the message remains the same: keep looking up, and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus.Themes: Faith, memory, freedom, vigilance, history, technology, personal reflection, Christianity, culture, and hope. The Voice in the Wilderness does not endorse any link or other material found at buzzsprout.More at https://www.thevoiceinthewilderness.org/
Our study of Ephesians moves into chapter four as we explore verses 1–6 and discover what it truly means to walk worthy of your calling. Even while writing as a prisoner of Rome, Paul refuses to identify with his captors. Instead, he anchors his identity completely in Jesus Christ. In this episode, we talk about how understanding how deeply loved you are by God changes the way you live and interact with others. It's not about forced uniformity, but it's about accessing God's love to actively cultivate humility, gentleness, and patience. Tune in as we break down the seven non-negotiable biblical markers of unity and learn how the Holy Spirit empowers us to love and maintain true kingdom unity with those we disagree with.EPISODE LINKSThe Letters to the Galatians and Ephesians (The New Daily Study Bible), by William BarclayWHAT IS NEUE THING?Neue Thing is a non-profit ministry, founded by Cherie Wagner, that exists to equip women with the Word of God. This week, not only are we covering one of my favorite passages in Ephesians (Eph. 3:14-21), but we also have the privilege of welcoming Charity Gurtler as a special guest for today's podcast! In today's passage, Paul falls to his knees to ask God for inner strength, a deeply rooted understanding of Christ's love, and spiritual fullness. Charity encourages us with reminders about God's ability to do more than we could think or imagine! What kinds of prayers would you pray if you truly believed that? Our ability to trust another person is based on how much we know them. Of course, to know them, we need to have a relationship with them. The Holy Spirit empowers us to know God and enjoy a relationship with Him through faith. This relationship is strengthened by the many promises made within His Word - promises that we can trust Him to keep. As we continue in our series "No one Greater", we explore the fact that, among many other things, our God is faithful!

Ep. 235 | In the 18th dialogue of the A. H. Almaas Wisdom Series, Hameed Ali delves into the fascinating subject of how the physical world is related to the absolute. From a nondual perspective, reality includes the physical world, he explains; the world cannot be reduced to an illusion. Material reality is every bit as compelling as the spiritual perspective, he continues. How we perceive it depends on where we find our stance, what we are immersed in—in the formless or the world of form. Hameed recognizes and honors physical reality, while describing material objects as expressions, or glimmerings, of the ground of being—the physical and the ground of being inseparable, whether pure presence or pure emptiness. And how does the relationship between creator and creation relate to the individual? Hameed presents his mystical theology: a triadic reality formed by God, the individual, and the physical world, where each maintains its own truth. Because the absolute is inherently not self-aware, it needs an individual to become aware of itself, he explains. We are its “knowing instruments.” Hameed's mystical theology, establishing the relationship between the human being, the world, and God, or true nature, is both elevating and grounding, enlightening and somehow comforting. The essential puzzle pieces of reality fitted together, creating unity. From atoms and quarks to what happens after death and how all dimensions can possibly exist in exquisite harmony when there is so much disharmony in the world, this conversation is far ranging, stimulating, and punctuated with laughter, as Hameed, Roger, and John continue to explore The Inner Journey Home. In this episode, we reflect on Ephesians 3:7–9 and the beauty of God's grace—a free and undeserved gift made possible through the complete and sufficient sacrifice of Jesus. Paul points all glory to Christ, the true Grace-Giver, while also remembering how deeply his own life was transformed by grace. His words remind us that none of us can earn God's favor through striving or good works; grace is freely given even to the very least of us and is meant to be received with gratitude. When was the last time you truly marveled at God's grace? This week, may we lay down our striving, rest in the finished work of Jesus, and receive the gift of grace with open hands as we learn to steward it well. In this episode, Ephesians 2:14–17 reminds us that Christ is our reconciler. In a time when Jews and Gentiles were deeply divided, Jesus tore down the walls of hostility and brought them together as one. That same truth challenges us today. If we are in Christ, we are called to be defined not by our preferences, backgrounds, or differences, but by God's love. Jesus didn't just preach reconciliation—He embodied it, inviting all into the same grace. So the question becomes: are we still building walls He already tore down? As followers of Christ, we're invited to actively pursue unity, welcoming others in and letting love speak louder than anything that might divide us.WHAT IS NEUE THING?Neue Thing is a non-profit ministry, founded by Cherie Wagner, that exists to equip women with the Word of God. In this episode of Cross Talk, hosts Daniel and Charles explore whether borders are biblical, concluding they are indeed God-ordained. Drawing from Scripture, they highlight examples like the Garden of Eden and God's covenant with Abraham to show that borders have always served to limit, define, and protect. They connect biblical principles to contemporary border debates, cautioning against purely emotional or political arguments. The hosts also reflect on the church's spiritual boundaries and Jesus' acknowledgment of earthly governance. Throughout, they emphasize approaching cultural conversations with humility, biblical wisdom, and a commitment to truth over winning arguments.
Paul highlights the deep cultural divide between Jewish and Gentile believers In Ephesians 2:11-13, yet celebrates how Christ unites all through the gospel of grace. He reminds us who we were before Christ—separated, excluded, strangers to God's promises, and without hope. This reflection isn't meant to shame us, but to magnify God's mercy. When we remember how far we've been brought, His grace becomes even sweeter. Though life in Christ doesn't remove hardship, it replaces hopelessness with nearness to Him. We are no longer far off—we are brought near through Jesus. In light of this incredible grace, how will we respond and live differently?WHAT IS NEUE THING?Neue Thing is a non-profit ministry, founded by Cherie Wagner, that exists to equip women with the Word of God. In Ephesians 2:4–10, Paul brings us to the centerpiece of the gospel. Just before this passage he described the reality of life apart from Christ—spiritually dead and unable to rescue ourselves. Into that hopeless condition come two of the most beautiful words in Scripture: “But God.” God interjects Himself into the brokenness of our “before Christ” lives. Out of His rich mercy, He does for us what we could never do for ourselves. Paul reminds us that “by grace you have been saved.” This passage invites us to live in the freedom of grace—receiving the salvation we could never earn and stepping into the good plans God has already prepared for our lives. In this episode of the Neue Thing Podcast, we open Ephesians 2:1–3 and sit with words calling us to remember our B.C. days. Paul reminds believers what marked every one of us before Christ: spiritually dead, shaped by the patterns of this world, and unable to rescue ourselves. He writes not to shame them, but to fuel a deeper gratitude for grace. Because there was a real moment in time when everything changed and you received God's gift of salvation. A moment that can only be explained by two powerful words: “But God.” If you have forgotten how far you have come, this passage invites you to remember—and to let gratitude rise again. In this episode of the Neue Thing Podcast, we walk through Ephesians 1:15–23 and a recorded prayer for the believers in Ephesus. Their faith and love deeply encouraged him, and it moved him to pray boldly for them. Instead of praying for surface-level needs, Paul prayed for something deeper: that God would give them a spirit of wisdom and revelation, that the eyes of their hearts would be enlightened, and that they would truly know the hope they have in Christ. In Ephesians 1:9–14, Paul invites us to anchor our identity in the character and nature of God. These verses reveal the spiritual blessings we already have access to in Christ and remind us that God is sovereign. His will is never thwarted, and His purposes will be accomplished. Even in a fallen world marked by suffering and sin, nothing can take away the hope of glory we carry. As God's will unfolds, it ultimately leads to praise, the only place where praise is rightly due. This passage challenges us to resist letting our circumstances define who God is or who we are, and instead to examine the lies we may believe about God or ourselves—lies that often lead to bondage rather than freedom.WHAT IS NEUE THING?Neue Thing is a non-profit ministry, founded by Cherie Wagner, that exists to equip women with the Word of God. In this episode of the Neue Thing Podcast, we walk through Ephesians 1:3–8 and reflect on what it truly means to find our identity in Christ. Paul reminds us that every defining mark of who we are flows from Jesus—not from our circumstances, performance, or shame. In Christ, we are chosen, holy and blameless, predestined, adopted, blessed, redeemed, and forgiven. These are not meager portions but lavish gifts poured out by a gracious God. When we remember who we are in Christ, it shapes how we live, freeing us to walk with confidence and clarity instead of allowing shame to dictate our steps.WHAT IS NEUE THING?Neue Thing is a non-profit ministry, founded by Cherie Wagner, that exists to equip women with the Word of God. Proverbs 31 is often misunderstood. It's either admired from a distance or dismissed as unattainable. In this episode of the Neue Thing Podcast, we reframe this familiar passage, not as a checklist for wives, but as a portrait of a person marked by wisdom. Proverbs 31 reveals the difference between knowledge and wisdom: wisdom is truth lived out in how we speak, serve, and love. This chapter is an invitation to right living, rooted in humility, faithful service, and contentment in God's pleasure. As Proverbs comes to a close, it brings us back to where it all began: the fear of the LORD as the foundation of a wise life.WHAT IS NEUE THING?Neue Thing is a non-profit ministry, founded by Cherie Wagner, that exists to equip women with the Word of God. This episode explores what I call the miracle before the miracle of Christmas. Before Bethlehem. Before the manger. Before angels filled the sky. God was already at work. In this teaching from Luke chapter 1, we walk through the story of Zacharias and Elizabeth, the priesthood, and the grace of God that moves even when prayers feel unanswered and seasons feel barren. This is a message for anyone who has: - Remained faithful while waiting - Served God without seeing change - Wondered if time has passed them by - Felt marked by past mistakes, family history, or reproach You'll see how God's grace: - Qualifies who we think are disqualified - Answers prayers we've stopped believing for - Removes shame and restores calling - Prepares the way for His promises This message is deeply rooted in Scripture, moving from Exodus to Luke, Galatians, 1 Peter, and Revelation, revealing how God establishes a royal priesthood and remains faithful across generations. Whether you're listening during the Christmas season or any time of year, this teaching is a reminder that God is faithful, even in the waiting. In this Thanksgiving conversation, The Talk My Credo team discards their entire topic outline to have an in-depth discussion community, faith, & the trending wave of "deconstruction" in responding to a recent online quarrel. Donte discusses the concept of deconstruction in relation to faith and belief systems, emphasizing that many individuals who claim to be deconstructing their beliefs are often not engaging in a genuine exploration of their faith, but rather are motivated by a disdain for God. He contrasts the idea of genuinely understanding one's beliefs with the act of simply tearing down established faith without a constructive purpose. In this episode, we explore Proverbs 26:1–12 as a cautionary tale that exposes the downward spiral of folly and the danger of letting our values drift from Scripture. Solomon paints a vivid picture of the fool, calling out the ways we applaud folly when our morals become culturally shaped rather than biblically grounded. We talk about the importance of “knowing the soil,” applying wisdom with discernment, and paying attention to the convictions God is pressing on our hearts. With Proverbs' strong language about sin and foolishness, this passage challenges us to stop whitewashing areas of folly and ask honestly: What has God been trying to tell you, and are you willing to listen?WHAT IS NEUE THING?Neue Thing is a non-profit ministry, founded by Cherie Wagner, that exists to equip women with the Word of God. In Proverbs 21, we're invited to pause and ask, What do you crave? This episode explores how our cravings shape our motives—and ultimately, our lives. The wise show restraint in speech and live with an abundance mindset, giving freely and trusting God. The fool, on the other hand, is consumed by endless craving and a scarcity mindset. Through this lens, we're challenged to examine our own motives: What are we feeding on? Are our desires making us more like Jesus, or pulling us further away?WHAT IS NEUE THING?Neue Thing is a non-profit ministry, founded by Cherie Wagner, that exists to equip women with the Word of God. In this episode of the Neue Thing Podcast, we unpack Proverbs 18 and the weight of our words. What we say—and when we say it—matters deeply. Our words can build up or tear down, bring life or cause harm. We're also challenged to reflect on our friendships: Who shapes us most, and what kind of friend are we becoming? This conversation invites us to consider both the wisdom of our speech and the influence of our relationships, pointing us back to the source of true wisdom—God Himself.WHAT IS NEUE THING?Neue Thing is a non-profit ministry, founded by Cherie Wagner, that exists to equip women with the Word of God. In this episode of the Neue Thing Podcast, we dive into Proverbs 17 and the weight of our words. Scripture reminds us that life and death are in the power of the tongue—our words matter, and so does what we listen to. In a culture quick to post, type, and react, God's Word calls us to slow down, be honest, and pursue wisdom. We explore how sin is a choice that carries consequences, but how taming our tongues can bring joy and align us with the fruit of the Spirit. In this episode of the Neue Thing Podcast, we dive into Proverbs 16:25–30 and explore the profile of the wicked—what they look like, what they do, and how we are called to respond. Proverbs, as ancient poetry, requires us to wrestle with its context before we interpret it. This passage reveals the dangerous progression of pride left unchecked, which leads to the downward spiral of wickedness. We uncover how arrogance, deceit, and quickness toward evil contrast with the slowness and steadiness of wisdom. Ultimately, God's Word offers us a mirror to examine our own hearts, not just a microscope to judge others.WHAT IS NEUE THING?Neue Thing is a non-profit ministry, founded by Cherie Wagner, that exists to equip women with the Word of God. In our spiritual journey, we're reminded that dreams truly do come true when aligned with God's purpose. The message delves into Psalm 37:4-5, emphasizing the importance of delighting ourselves in the Lord to receive the desires of our hearts. This isn't about superficial wants, but deep-seated desires that become fervent prayer requests. As you listen to this message, you will be encouraged to explore your God-given dreams, seeing them as spacious and multifaceted, much like an ornate ballroom. As we commit our ways to the Lord, we're called to enlarge our faith rather than shrink our dreams. As we pursue our dreams, we're reminded to follow the Holy Spirit's guidance, not just our own desires, ensuring we're in step with God's timing and plan.

In this episode of the Neue Thing Podcast, we explore Proverbs 14:29–35 and the clear contrast between the fruit of wisdom and the fruit of folly. In Proverbs 13:21–25, we're reminded that discipline isn't punishment—it's actually good for us. This passage calls us to trust God's timing and character, even when life feels unfair. We see themes of justice, legacy, stewardship, parenting, and satisfaction woven together. Discipline becomes the thread: it's how we train our hearts to wait on God, to crave what is truly good, and to live in step with His ways.WHAT IS NEUE THING?Neue Thing is a non-profit ministry, founded by Cherie Wagner, that exists to equip women with the Word of God. What Happens When We Die? Find out in our interview with Dr. Jeffrey Long! Dr. Jeffrey Long, renowned radiation oncologist and founder of the Near-Death Experience Research Foundation (NDERF), shares his jaw-dropping insights into the science of NDEs, consciousness, and the afterlife. Drawing from over 5,000 verified near-death experiences, he presents the most compelling scientific and spiritual evidence that your consciousness may exist after life independent of the brain. From documented out of body experiences under anesthesia to cases where blind individuals describe vivid visuals and the deaf report hearing, Dr. Long dismantles mainstream scientific objections with hard data, like low oxygen, seizures, or residual brain activity.
