Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. And here is a shout-out today to Ben Gandy from Hugo, MN. Ben, thank you for being part of Project23. Because of your faithfulness, we get to plant the Word of God in more lives every day. This one's for you. Today, we're looking at Mark 4:1-9: Again he began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea, and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land. And he was teaching them many things in parables, and in his teaching he said to them: “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil. And when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away. Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain. And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” And he said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”— Mark 4:1-9 Jesus sits in a boat, teaching a crowd so large He has to back away from shore to be seen and heard. He launches into a story—a parable—that has echoed across history: A sower went out to sow. Some seeds land on the path. Some seeds hit the rocky ground. Some seeds fall among thorns. Some seeds land on good soil—and multiply. It's simple imagery, but Jesus isn't giving a farming lesson. He's giving a heart lesson. And this isn't a story merely about the Sower—or even the Seed. It's a story about the soil. Jesus is spading the soil of the heart of all mankind, asking: What kind of soil is your heart? Is it hard and unreceptive, like the path? Shallow and emotionally reactive, like the rocky ground? Distracted and overgrown with worry, like the thorns? Or soft and ready—like the good soil that produces lasting fruit? You see, the Seed is always good. The Word of God never fails. But the condition of the heart determines the harvest. And here's the good news of this parable: the soil of your heart doesn't have to be fixed in the hardened state. It can be plowed. Broken up. Prepared again. So if your heart's been hardened by disappointment… Or shallow from busyness… Or choked by distraction… Let Jesus work your soil. Let his pick axe, plow, and grader work on your heart. Soften it to him and let him produce results in and through you. Today—don't just hear the Word. Listen to it by changing your heart to him. #HeartCheck, #GoodSoil, #ParableOfTheSower ASK THIS: Which type of soil best describes your heart right now? What has hardened, distracted, or shallowly rooted your spiritual growth? Are you actively allowing God to break up and prepare your heart? What fruit have you seen when you've responded with a soft heart? DO THIS: Ask God to reveal one area of your heart that needs softening—and surrender it to him today. PRAY THIS: Father, break up the hard places in my heart and prepare me to receive your Word. Help me listen with surrender and grow lasting fruit through your Spirit. Amen. PLAY THIS: Word of God Speak.
Let Jesus' way of thinking be our way of living.
178: Navigating AI with Wisdom and Faith"If you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally andwithout reproach, and it will be given to him." — James 1:5 (NKJV)Artificial Intelligence may seem like a futuristic tool, but it's here andnow—scheduling our lives, answering questions, even writing ourpapers! But here's the truth: Jesus isn't outdated in a tech-drivenworld. He's not intimidated by innovation—He is the Creator of allwisdom. The question isn't “Should we use AI?” but “How do weengage AI with a heart that still seeks Jesus first?” Faith andtechnology can co-exist—but only when we invite the Holy Spirit toguide our soul and spirit.Three Key Points1. Wisdom is the Filter- Just because it's fast doesn't mean it's right. AI delivers info, butJesus offers truth.- Discernment is your secret weapon—ask the Holy Spirit to help youknow what to keep and cancel.- Proverbs 3:6 — “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He willdirect your path.”2. God Can Use Anything—Even AI- AI can help spread the Gospel, organize your life, or even write asermon—but it's still a tool, not the Source.- Think of it like a hammer: It builds, but only in the hands of theBuilder.- Romans 8:28 reminds us that “All things work together for good...”—yes, even ChatGPT!

Every Christian parent longs to see their prodigal child—or any lost loved one—return to faith. But what if, in our eagerness to “speak truth” and correct their course, we’re actually widening the gap between them and God? In this eye-opening episode, Catherine welcomes Michael French—an attorney-turned-pastor with decades of experience in both traditional church settings and unconventional, deeply relational ministry. Through friendships forged in unexpected places—from tabletop games to immersive role play—Michael has reached those the Church often overlooks or even avoids: witches, warlocks, LGBTQ+ individuals, and the spiritually wounded. Michael’s story challenges how we think about evangelism, reminding us that Jesus always led with love before calling for change. He built relationships with the rejected, the broken, and the misunderstood—then spoke truth into hearts softened by compassion. This episode will reshape how you approach the prodigals and lost loved ones in your life—and rekindle hope that no one is too far gone. Key Insights from the Episode:
Happy Easter! HE IS RISEN! Today Pastor Dustin Clegg continues with our journey through the book of John and as we look at John 20:11-23, we see Jesus as the Quiet Conqueror.1) Jesus is not nearly as interested in proving Himself to His enemies. (vs 11-18)2) Jesus offers peace to failing forward followers. (vs 19-20)3) Jesus sends his failing forward followers into His sacrificial mission. (vs 21-23)Let Jesus be Jesus in our lives.
Jesus doesn't adjust to us—we adjust to Him. He's the King. Every part of our lives must submit to Him. When we do, He works powerfully through us. It's not about being "enough"; it's about surrender. Let Jesus lead.

Today's Scripture: Luke 18:9 In this episode, Pastor Sumrall reflects on Jesus' parable in Luke 18:9—spoken directly to those confident in their own righteousness and who looked down on others. With warmth and wisdom, Pastor reminds us that Jesus wasn't afraid to address specific attitudes, and neither should we be. Sometimes love means having the hard conversations—whether you're a pastor, parent, or friend. Focused correction isn't judgment; it's discipleship. Bible Reading: Hebrews 12:1-2Casey was sitting on the edge of the deck, shoving a pointy stick into the muddy spring earth, when Grandpa sat down next to him."Hey, buddy. You've been quiet ever since your parents dropped you off to take your little brother to the hospital. Anything you want to talk about?" Grandpa asked.Casey thrust the stick harder into the ground, sending the sticky mud splattering onto his feet. "It's all my fault. It was my idea to race our bikes down the hill. And I was the one who teased him for not wanting to go faster. He wouldn't have broken his arm if it wasn't for me." Casey leaned into Grandpa's arm and sniffled. "I'm always doing stuff like that--teasing him and trying to get him to do things I know I shouldn't. I--I'm a horrible person!" Casey buried his face in Grandpa's chest and let his tears fall freely.Grandpa put his arm around Casey's small shoulders. "Casey, I know you feel bad, but that doesn't mean you are bad."Casey lifted his head and looked at Grandpa. "What do you mean?""When we make poor choices, we know it's sin and that we need forgiveness. But we also have to be careful not to allow shame to sneak in and tell us that we're bad. Look at that stick you're holding. It's got mud on it, but it's still a stick, right?""Well, yeah. Of course.""Well, shame tries to convince the stick that it's all mud. But it's not. It just needs someone to clean the mud off.""So if I'm like the stick, then I just need someone to wash my mud away?" A smile came to Casey's face. "You mean Jesus, right?""You got it," said Grandpa. "Jesus took the guilt and shame of our sin on Himself when He died on the cross. He washes us clean and makes us right with God. Because you trust in Jesus, that's who you really are--a child of God whose sins have been washed away. Shame has no place in your life. When you feel bad about something, confess your sin to Jesus and He will forgive you. He died to take your shame off you so you could enjoy a new life with Him."–Tannis Oliveri How About You?Do you feel bad about something you did? Is it sticking to your heart like mud, making you feel dirty? Let Jesus wash the sticky mud of shame off you and remind you who you really are. Once you know Him as your Savior, sin and shame no longer have any claim on you. Confess what you did to Him, knowing He will always forgive you. Today's Key Verse:But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (NKJV) (1 Corinthians 6:11)Today's Key Thought:Jesus took your shame
God has the power to change everything—water into blood, water into wine, wine into His precious blood at every Mass. But the greatest transformation He desires is in you. The question is: Will you give Him permission?
Who is Jesus? This may be the most controversial question in history. Answering that question makes an eternal difference. It's the question crowds asked after Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey, accompanied by fanfare fit for a king. The city was in a commotion, and everyone wanted to know - "Who is this?" He's the promised King. The people of Jerusalem failed to respond to Him the correct way.
Jesus Is The Good ShepherdMain Text: John 10:11-16, 19-21Key Points:Jesus Is the Good ShepherdHe lays down His life for the sheep, unlike a hired hand who abandons them (John 10:11-12).He knows His sheep personally, and they know His voice (John 10:14).His role was foretold in Ezekiel 34—God Himself promised to shepherd His people.Recognizing the Shepherd's VoiceTo hear and follow Jesus, we must spend time in God's Word.Distractions keep us from hearing God clearly.Without His voice, we are vulnerable to pitfalls:Wandering → Isolation and lost direction.Going in circles → Repeating the same struggles.Falling in ditches → Getting trapped in sin.Chasing greener pastures → Seeking fulfillment in the wrong places. We Are Called to Follow and ShepherdSubmission to Authority → We are to follow Jesus first and trust godly leaders.Being an Undershepherd → Parents, mentors, and believers care for others spiritually.Staying with the Flock → Isolation breeds deception; community brings clarity.Watching for Wolves → False teachers deceive and divide (Matthew 7:15).Final ChallengeAre you tired of wandering? Being deceived? Falling into the same traps?Let Jesus lead you—His rod and staff will comfort, protect, and guide you.

Every New York television station you turned to had the same bold graphic, "Blizzard of '96." I still remember it. It was barely 1996; we were only six days into the new year when anywhere between 20-30 inches of snow unloaded on the Metropolitan New York area. It was like a mega-ton snow bomb hit the area, and it literally drove the Big Apple to its knees. This is a city that doesn't shut down...except for a monster storm like this. The schools were closed for an almost unprecedented two days. City workers were told not to come in and bridges to the city were closed. Some of the busiest streets in the world were bare except for an occasional snow plow or emergency vehicle that went by. The trains couldn't make it because snow had choked the tracks. Major sporting events? They were impossible. I had never seen New York like that. The city that never stops had been stopped. I'm Ron Hutchcraft, and I want to have A Word With You today about "Stopped by a Storm." Our word for today from the Word of God comes from Acts 9. It's really from the life of a very goal-oriented high-achiever on his way to a major conquest. His name is Saul. This is a man, sort of like New York, who couldn't be stopped. The brightest young religious leader of his time, but deeply angered by the heresy of the new followers of a man named Jesus. Well, Saul's on his way to take care of the problem. The man who never stopped was stopped that day by a sudden storm. Verse 3 begins by saying this, "As Saul neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, 'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?' 'Who are you, Lord?' Saul asked. 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,' he replied." Well suddenly this hard driver could drive no farther. He was knocked from his horse, he's down on the ground, and he was unable to see. Perhaps you're kind of a Saul or a Saulina (whatever the female version is). You've been running full speed. You've gotten a lot done. You're competent, you're gifted, you're doing pretty well, and you're moving too fast to think about getting right with your Creator. Oh, you've got some religious credentials maybe but there's no doubt who's really God in your life. Your god's the one who's running your life? That would be you. And suddenly there's been this heavy storm. Maybe you've been hit with something medical or financial, or your family is in a crisis or someone you love is gone or you found yourself out of work, out of money, out of hope. Sometimes a struggling son or daughter knocks us off our horse. Whatever the storm, would you allow me to suggest a reason it might be happening? For the same reason it happened to Saul, so you would finally be able to hear the voice of Jesus - Jesus who created you. Jesus, against whom we've rebelled as we've run our life our way, not His way. Jesus, who is the only one who loved you enough to die for you; to pay the death penalty for sin that you deserved to pay. Jesus, the one who has been knocking gently on the door of your heart for a long time, but you've always been on your way somewhere else until now. And the storm has stopped you so you could finally meet your Savior. He's calling your name today just like He did Saul's that day. And He says, "I am Jesus." That day Saul surrendered his life to the Son of God. Maybe this day you will. Maybe it's time to say, "Lord, I've run it long enough. I need a Savior from my sin. I'm yours Jesus." This storm that seems to be blowing you off course is really bringing you home. So, I want to invite you to go to our website, and I'll walk you through there the way you can be sure you have begun your personal relationship with the One who loves you the most. Just go to ANewStory.com. Let Jesus step into your storm and say what He did to a storm with His disciples so many years ago, "Peace be still." And it was calm.

Second Sunday after the Epiphany Old Testament Isaiah 62:1-5 For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until her vindication shines out like the dawn, and her salvation like a burning torch. The nations shall see your vindication, and all the kings your glory; and you shall be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will give. You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. You shall no more be termed Forsaken, and your land shall no more be termed Desolate; but you shall be called My Delight Is in Her, and your land Married; for the Lord delights in you, and your land shall be married. For as a young man marries a young woman, so shall your builder marry you, and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you. The Psalm Psalm 36:5-10 Dixit injustus 5 Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, * and your faithfulness to the clouds. 6 Your righteousness is like the strong mountains, your justice like the great deep; * you save both man and beast, O Lord. 7 How priceless is your love, O God! * your people take refuge under the shadow of your wings. 8 They feast upon the abundance of your house; * you give them drink from the river of your delights. 9 For with you is the well of life, * and in your light we see light. 10 Continue your loving-kindness to those who know you, * and your favor to those who are true of heart. The New Testament 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that when you were pagans, you were enticed and led astray to idols that could not speak. Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God ever says "Let Jesus be cursed!" and no one can say "Jesus is Lord" except by the Holy Spirit. Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses. The Gospel John 2:1-11 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine." And Jesus said to her, "Woman, what concern is that to you and to me? My hour has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you." Now standing there were six stone water jars for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to them, "Fill the jars with water." And they filled them up to the brim. He said to them, "Now draw some out, and take it to the chief steward." So they took it. When the steward tasted the water that had become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the steward called the bridegroom and said to him, "Everyone serves the good wine first, and then the inferior wine after the guests have become drunk. But you have kept the good wine until now." Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
The Baptism of our Lord The Collect Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illumined by your Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ's glory, that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen. All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses. The Gospel Luke 24:13-35 Now on that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them, but their eyes were kept from recognizing him. And he said to them, “What are you discussing with each other while you walk along?” They stood still, looking sad. Then one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who does not know the things that have taken place there in these days?” He asked them, “What things?” They replied, “The things about Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, and how our chief priests and leaders handed him over to be condemned to death and crucified him. But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things took place. Moreover, some women of our group astounded us. They were at the tomb early this morning, and when they did not find his body there, they came back and told us that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who said that he was alive. Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said; but they did not see him.” Then he said to them, “Oh, how foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have declared! 2Was it not necessary that the Messiah should suffer these things and then enter into his glory?” Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things about himself in all the scriptures. As they came near the village to which they were going, he walked ahead as if he were going on. But they urged him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, because it is almost evening and the day is now nearly over.” So he went in to stay with them. When he was at the table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; and he vanished from their sight. They said to each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us on the road, while he was opening the scriptures to us?” That same hour they got up and returned to Jerusalem; and they found the eleven and their companions gathered together. They were saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and he has appeared to Simon!” Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he had been made known to them in the breaking of the bread.
