This week on No Vacancy I talk with Ali Haney, host of the Brand & Market Podcast, who is a  branding and marketing expert. We get into some juicy strategies that you can implement to improve your listing's online presence today! But before we dive into that, Ali walks us through the painful months-long journey of her attempt to turn a gorgeous Bourbon Trail estate into a wedding venue. She did her due diligence on the regulation, ran the numbers, and knew the property was in good shape with no surprise repairs.  But what wasn't expected was the backlash the local community would feel towards this project. Ali takes us through the emotional rollercoaster and endless city meetings to fight for this deal, and how unfortunately, it ultimately failed. The good news? She was ready to pivot with a backup plan, and even though that property isn't a functional wedding venue today, it IS a profitable, cash-flowing STR. Ali is an open book, and if anyone has considered riskier projects, this episode is a must-listen on how to navigate emotional backlash and obstinate neighbors. On this week's episode, senior fashion reporter Danny Parisi and international fashion reporter Zofia Zwieglinska unpack the week's biggest fashion headlines. They start with the 2025 Victoria's Secret Show, which returned to New York with a more inclusive casting lineup that featured WNBA star Angel Reese, plus-size and trans models, and a visibly pregnant Jasmine Tookes. With performances from Missy Elliott and Karol G, the show aimed to balance its signature spectacle with a renewed focus on diversity and empowerment. Danny and Zofia debate whether this marks a genuine evolution for the lingerie giant or a one-and-done activation to win back cultural relevance. The pair then discusses Gucci's €119 million fine from E.U. regulators for restricting retailers' ability to set prices, part of a larger €157 million antitrust ruling also affecting Chloé and Loewe. The case highlights how luxury brands' tight control over distribution is clashing with European competition law, a precedent that could loosen pricing control across the sector. They also cover Armani's leadership transition following Giorgio Armani's passing last month, with longtime executive Giuseppe Marsocci stepping in as CEO and partner Pantaleo Dell'Orco taking over as chairman. The succession marks a historic moment for what was one of fashion's last founder-led houses as it considers a partial sale to outside investors. In the second half of the episode (22:00), editor-in-chief Jill Manoff speaks with Ty Haney, founder of Outdoor Voices, about her much-anticipated return to the brand, which she calls its “chapter two.” Haney explains how her equestrian and hiking capsules reflect a return to OV's joyful, recreation-first roots, and how her tech startup, TYB, is powering a new community-driven brand loyalty model. She shares brand lessons from the DTC era, the reasons she's leaning into bolder design and color, and her plans to connect her three ventures — Outdoor Voices, TYB and the energy drink brand Joggy — to create a lifestyle ecosystem built on movement and optimism.

We examine Ty's original mission to separate exercise from performance (and how that was internalized as a “demand” to “play”), revisit the tired, left-of-basic criticism that fitness is classist, catch up on Ty's various Futurist ventures in her time away from OV, and analyze OV's attempt to stay relevant as sportswear fashion trends evolve. Plus, urgent conversations such as: Is Ty's Web3 Cowgirl vibe landing? Does fangirling over Elon Musk in 2025 need to *mean anything*? Dr. Aunshul Rege, Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at Temple University, challenges that perception through her research, outreach, and education programs — all grounded in community, empathy, and human behavior. In this episode, Dr. Rege joins Sean Martin and co-host Julie Haney to share her multi-layered approach to cybersecurity awareness and education. Drawing from her unique background that spans computer science and criminology, she explains how understanding human behavior is critical to understanding and addressing digital risk. One powerful initiative she describes brings university students into the community to teach cyber hygiene to seniors — a demographic often left out of traditional training programs. These student-led sessions focus on practical topics like scams and password safety, delivered in clear, respectful, and engaging ways. The result? Not just education, but trust-building, conversation, and long-term community engagement.Dr. Rege also leads interdisciplinary social engineering competitions that invite students from diverse academic backgrounds — including theater, nursing, business, and criminal justice — to explore real-world cyber scenarios. These events prove that you don't need to code to contribute meaningfully to cybersecurity. You just need curiosity, communication skills, and a willingness to learn.Looking ahead, Temple University is launching a new Bachelor of Arts in Cybersecurity and Human Behavior — a program that weaves in community engagement, liberal arts, and applied practice to prepare students for real-world roles beyond traditional technical paths. If you're a security leader looking to improve awareness programs, a university educator shaping the next generation, or someone simply curious about where you fit in the cyber puzzle, this episode offers a fresh perspective: cybersecurity works best when it's human-first.⬥SPONSORS⬥ThreatLocker: https://itspm.ag/threatlocker-r974⬥RESOURCES⬥Dr. Aunshul Rege is an Associate Professor here, and much of her work is conducted under this department: https://liberalarts.temple.edu/academics/departments-and-programs/criminal-justiceTemple Digital Equity Plan (2022): https://www.phila.gov/media/20220412162153/Philadelphia-Digital-Equity-Plan-FINAL.pdfTemple University Digital Equity Center / Digital Access Center: https://news.temple.edu/news/2022-12-06/temple-launches-digital-equity-center-north-philadelphiaNICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework: https://www.nist.gov/itl/applied-cybersecurity/nice/nice-framework-resource-center⬥ADDITIONAL INFORMATION⬥✨ More Redefining CyberSecurity Podcast:
