Have you stumbled upon Midnight Poutine in Black Rock City? Maybe you listened to Québecois rock as you waited for some of that crispy, cheesy goodness? As with many camps on playa, Midnight Poutine is the cultural tip of the iceberg of a vast community of creativity and goings-on; this one in Montréal, Québec. Arno Robin, one of Montréal's cultural instigators, spoke with Stuart and kbot about his nine-year journey from Midnight Poutine, to co-creating Montréal's Burning Man Regional Event, to developing a bustling makerspace. It's one of those stories we love — one that travels through Black Rock City and then keeps on going — carrying the Burning Man ethos back home to take root and sprout local mutations.Plus… Stuart learns to swear in Québecois!https://www.linkedin.com/in/arno-robin-9b903936https://losstidburn.org/en/home/https://www.lespacemaker.com/en/ LIVE.BURNINGMAN.ORG

It is hard to fathom how everything God created in the brief beginning of the heavens, earth and the hosts of heaven to contain everything needed for every person's life to live out His purposes. We follow in His footsteps as we continue to use the raw materials He has given us to make new things. Of course we don't do this as perfectly as God, but there is a desire within each of us to refine creation following the example God gave us in Genesis 2. China Jedi: Expat Life | Chinese Culture | Business | Travel | China
In this episode (Part 1/3 of the Makerspace Trilogy) China Jeducation interviews Mr Adam Domenico, who over the past few years has designed, created and implemented a dedicated and highly successful Makerspace at Quality Schools International (QSI), Zhuhai, China. They discuss the story of Makerspace and the Makerspace Movement, what it actually is and how he got and what he needed to get it started. Focusing as always on international teaching, expat teachers and all things education related! Makerspace is a constructivist and constructionist movement that is taking the world by storm! Imagine DIY meets education! A Makerspace presents readily-available materials that can act as a provocation for inquiry, as well as modern technology and items to invent with. Makerspace is closely associated with STEM or STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) education, and is an approach to problem-based and project-based learning that relies upon hands-on, often collaborative, learning experiences as a method for solving authentic problems. Check out Adam’s Makerspace Prezi Presentation and to contact him regarding anything Makerspace related please email adamdomenico@gmail.com
On this episode of the podcast we're joined by Chelsey Odgers who is a an artist, clipboard creator, anchor chart expert, and technology teacher! You may know Chelsey better as @hipsterartteacher on Instagram and by the amazing clipboards she decorates! We had a great conversation on how she uses her background in graphic design and art to teach her students in tecnology, STEAM, and Makers Space. When we asked Chelsey what the struggles are for art teachers she discussed how it can be challenging to help students overcome their self doubt. What struck us is the way she described how many students have been told they are not good at art and it makes them more reluctant to try and how it could be the story of any student in any class. She then talked about how she wants students to feel capable and valued as individuals and the ways in which she strives to do that in all her classes. Finish it off with some talk on anchor charts, Teach Your Heart Out, and how she uses Makers Spaces and this is an episode you won't want to miss! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/valueaddsvalue/support
